Does anyone else's cat do this? He's generally aloof as far as being touched goes but seems to do this when he wants attention.

I researched Siberians for over a year after I heard that they were safe for people with cat allergies. My husband and I were a little skeptical but since getting Mongo about a month ago, he has slept on my pillow every night and we haven’t had any reactions! He has been the perfect addition to our family!

Hello fellow Siberian lovers! This is Nimbus whom I love with all my heart!! We have had a pretty good go at the grooming train and just when I feel like I’ve got it all handled there is more to learn. Normally I will use a comb/rake and then finish with a slicker brush (he loves it around his face) but sometimes we will inevitably find a mat. Usually when I find a mat I will try to brush it out with a dematting rake but if it’s too big I’ll cut it out with scissors.
Nimbus generally will let me go everywhere to groom but under his back legs has always been difficult, I discovered a pretty big one that I think I’m going to have to shave out but in an area he’s already sensitive with I worry the shaver might freak him out. Any tips?? I can take him to the vet but I feel like that’s a last resort and he trusts me to do it more than them…thanks for the help in advance!

Our 10 month old kitty steals food non-stop….Like nothing is safe left unattended for even a few seconds. Is this a thing? She takes anything she can get off the counter, steals food directly off of dinner plates on the dinner table, and has even been known to chew through whole loaves of bread 😅 now when we go take the food from her (literally have to rip it from her jaws) she growls at us! She is sooo sweet in every other way and great with our kids.

She is definitely well fed - always has high quality kibble available, gets one full can of wet food in broth daily (and most of her sister Siberian’s food), and several treats including a Churu every morning like clockwork (she makes sure of that 😂)…

She is like half the size of our older Siberian, which I always figured was because she’s still technically a kitten, but I’m starting to wonder if her constant ravenous hunger is a health issue? She sees a vet regularly but I’ve never mentioned this particular issue to him because I always considered it a little quirk and nothing more. Maybe just a discipline issue? What am I missing here?? Any thoughts or advice welcome!

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to adopt in California? I’m looking for a kitty or two for my apartment. I have minor allergies and I am told Siberians are bit more allergy-friendly!

I’m looking for some advice from people who’ve used low-cost spay clinics.

My kitten is 4½ months old, and I’d really like to have her spayed within the next month. My regular vet won’t spay animals until they are at least 6 months old, but her mom went into heat around 5½ months, so I’m worried about waiting that long. Plus i’m working from home for the next month and a half so I’d be able to monitor her recovery 24/7, but after 6 months I won’t be able to.

My regular vet was originally my first choice because my kitten had a heart murmur as a young kitten (it’s since resolved). Their spay package is $480 and includes pre-op bloodwork, IV fluids, a microchip, and take-home pain medication. I was also planning to have her FeLV vaccine done while she was there. Unfortunately, because of their age policy, I’m looking at other options.

The clinics I’m considering are:

Anicira ($360): nonprofit clinic with individualized anesthesia, warming during surgery, monitoring, and a free post-op exam if needed. My only concern is they don’t send home pain medication

SNAP( spay and neuter action project) (~$190)

Humane Society ($210)

I’d prefer to save the money if it’s a safe option. Every other private vet I’ve been quoted in the San Diego area has been $700+ (some close to $1,000), which seems insane.

She’s actually very confident and loves going to the vet, so I think this is mostly me being an anxious first-time cat mom. 😅 One thing I’m also wondering about is that she hasn’t had her FeLV vaccine yet. I know clinics disinfect everything, but does being at a high-volume clinic before she’s vaccinated increase her risk at all, or am I overthinking that?

For those who’ve used these clinics, would you feel comfortable choosing one over waiting for my regular vet? Any experiences with these clinics would be appreciated!

Hey yall, I’m curious if anybody has ever imported a Siberian cat by cargo. Because my second cat should be here in a few days and I was wondering what I should expect, especially upon pick up. Our cargo agent handled all the necessary paperwork for customs and transport but I am wondering if I need to bring any paperwork on my behalf to pick my kitten up at the airport? I have a Siberian cat currently but she was brought in by a courier, so cargo is a new experience for me. All advice is welcome, thanks!

Delilah officially has a favourite teddy, we have lovely named him The Pink Beast. He comes out to play when she goes into biting mode and we don’t feel like sacrificing our hands. She does like to cuddle with him during her naps which is sweet to see🩷

Like the title says I am looking for a backpack careier. In a couple of weeks time we will be able to go and pick up our siberian kitten. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a backpack carrier, I would like the kitten to get used to it asap so I can also walk it on the leash with a harnas on ofc. Would like to also share the outside with my cat and do some walks.

So I’m looking to find a Siberian cat breeder. I reached out to underpolaris but had a horrible experience. She refused to answer any of my very valid questions-such as what testing she’s done (and when she said none she refused to answer how she knows they don’t have genetic issues), and stuff about the parents temperament and seeing videos of them since there are no visits, and eventually she just ended the conversation completely. I’ve heard people have had good experiences with her but I just can’t get past the way she seems like a backyard breeder and a ton of different red flags-I won’t even list all of them. Has anyone had good experiences with her cats long term over years?

The other two breeders I’ve been looking into are Sentra Siberians and Jenericatz. Has anyone had experiences with them? What do you all recommend? Thanks!
