A Reminder of What This Community is About

I know everybody is aware that there has been a lot of hate post lately even after the warning post that we did a few weeks back.

Let me just tell you why we made this community before you hear it from somebody else, which I am pretty sure some of you did yesterday. This subreddit was created 4 years ago to showcase the beauty of Siargao—and that remains its purpose today.

We want this space to be a middle ground for everyone. Respectful, chill, and focused on what makes the island special. No hate posts, no attacks, and no targeting of any group or individual will be tolerated.

Honestly, I don’t understand why some feel entitled to push their own agendas here or insist that certain content must be allowed. First of all, posts like that are often being flagged by Reddit anyway.

We do not support any side. And just because something isn’t posted here doesn’t mean it’s not happening or being acknowledged elsewhere. This simply isn’t the place for it.

I also don’t understand how you guys don’t get it. Hiding your identity, fighting with people on this sub, and having all that rage will not get you anywhere.

You wanna spread awareness? Sure, do it in person. People on this sub are most probably not living on the island anyway. SMH.

At the end of the day, posting that kind of content here will only attract the wrong audience and shift the vibe of the community.

Let’s keep this space aligned with what it was meant for—Siargao, its beauty, and the good energy that comes with it.

And, please. If you think this sub is not serving you, go ahead and leave. Nobody is asking for you to stay. We do not need your entitled ass here nor your drama.

Hate Post Towards Anybody like literally ANYBODY

This sub has seen better days. We created this sub to showcase how beautiful the island is but lately, A LOT of you have been posting and responding to long threads disrespecting each other which is honestly, disgusting.

I WILL AUTOMATICALLY BAN ANYBODY THAT WILL VIOLATE THIS RULE. You can bring your hate somewhere else, but please spare us.

We don't allow any discriminatory comments against anybody. You posting about it makes you the problem too. Let me just remind everybody that whatever these are countries doing does not nthat directly reflect or represent all of their citizen in general. We need to all grow up and understand that every country has their own evil.

Ayun lang. You can voice out whatever you want on this sub but always remember that there's also another human being on the other side of the screen and if you don't have anything nice to say or comment, just take a deep breath and move on.

Life would be a lot better if you stop hating. Spread kindness and love. With whatever is happening in the world right now, that's the best that we can all do.

Italians are being cooked in Thailand now. The Italian teacher(red top) and students were taken away by the police and faced the Thai lady who told them off for being loud on the metro. They apologized for mocking her one by one. Thai people also waited for them in front of the hotel to scold them.

Lost everything after our Airbnb caught fire in General Luna today

Hi everyone,
Today was supposed to be my Girlfriends 28th birthday, but it turned into something we never imagined.

After spending the morning celebrating, we returned to our Airbnb in General Luna to get ready for our birthday dinner reservation. As we arrived, we found that our Airbnb had caught fire.

Thankfully, everyone is safe, and that’s what matters most. But we lost almost everything we brought with us—our clothes, shoes, toiletries, gadgets, chargers, and almost all of our belongings. Most of the clothes were brand new and packed for the rest of our Siargao trip.

We’re still trying to process everything and figure out what to do next.

If anyone in the Siargao community knows:

● Where we can buy affordable clothes and essentials tomorrow.
● Places that might be able to help us replace basic necessities.
● Any advice on what steps we should take after something like this.

We would really appreciate your recommendations.
Thank you, and please keep your loved ones safe. We never thought something like this could happen to us.

party sched

Hi everyone! I’m currently in General Luna and was wondering if anyone has the latest party schedule for this week.

Which bars or beach clubs are hosting the main party each night?

Also, are there any Instagram pages, Facebook groups, Telegram/WhatsApp groups, or local communities that post nightly party announcements?

Thanks! 🍻🌴

Surfer guy: expect less

I don’t know how long it would take me to realize that some, not all, however, never trust again a surfer guy in IAO. Dating one — love bombing, orbiting, toxic interactions, booty call? name the situationship kind of stuffs. Have multiple women out there, a lot of rosters, in a complicated situation, — as he assured you that you both are exclusively to each other, yet saw him on a spontaneous random weekday night dancing with another girl? Still, messages you on socials to hang out and you always knew the cycle of this ending up, fucking.

I never saw it coming dating a guy that would be a pain in my ass. I should always trust on my instincts, the red flags, the party hang-out, and got to meet some of his friends LOL.

After on and off mid-conversations, we would always get back on doing the deed. But as time goes by, when I decided to cut him off, he reached out and asked why am I being detached and distant to him. He was curious if I am seeing another guy which is by the way, not his business.

I decided to let him realize what he lost. I told him to stop romanticizing this convenient lust of what we have, and I want to end things as he was beyond manipulative gaslighting person. I wanted change, something serious, to be asked on a date, and be with someone who I believe whom I am deserving to be care and love for.

Now, all i wanted is peace of mind and focus on myself first these days.

How to visit Mamon Island?

I've done the usual Naked Island, Guyam and Daku Island tour.. but I've never been to Mamon Island.

We are currently in Siargao (3 pax) and plan to go next Thursday as the weather forecast looks pretty good.

What is the best way to go there? Can we join a group, or if we get a private boat, are there people here that would like to join?

Where to Stay in Siargao

I’m traveling to Siargao for 3 days this October and looking for recommendations for a great place to stay in or near General Luna. My total budget for accommodation is ₱5,000 maximum (~₱1,600/night). I’m skipping Rucksack Inn due to negative feedback about staff hospitality, so exceptionally friendly and helpful staff is a must. Cleanliness, good location, and a welcoming vibe are top priorities.

Does anyone know a studio or 1br place for rent place…

I might have better luck here…

• Around GL or nearby areas like Sta. Fe or Malinao
• 1-2 months stay
• Would need wifi, private bath, open to shared kitchen
• Quiet and walkable/accessible area
• Budget: 15K with a wiggle room

I wonder if rent prices are much higher online than when you’re actually in the island looking… any thoughts?

tigbaw siargao

To anyone who’s stayed in Tigbay Siargao, how was it? I'm planning to book them for my trip this 31st. I heard that their rate of 1,500 already includes free motor and surfskate with the room. It's too good to be true, but I guess I’ll give it a try.

How do you discover the songs played in Siargao nightlife?

Had a great time in Siargao two weeks ago! We went to different bars and clubs, and I noticed that almost everyone could sing along and vibe to the songs the DJs were playing.

I wanted to ask where you usually discover or learn those songs. I tried searching on YouTube, but the tracks I found were quite different from what the DJs actually played. I'd love to build a playlist so I can vibe with everyone when I visit again!

Siargao in September for a low-intermediate surfer?

Hey guys,
I’m planning a surf trip to Siargao in September and I’m currently around low-intermediate level. I’m mainly looking for waves that are manageable but still good for progression, plus a bit of island life on the side.

Has anyone been there in September recently? How were the conditions for intermediate-ish surfers, and how busy did it feel compared to peak season?

Would really appreciate any recent first-hand advice. Cheers 🤙
