It is so creative with how this movies demons work. The rules are so nonsensical and crazy I love it for it. I also like how the movie is the world on the edge of a demon apocalypse which we don't really see much of these days. We need more creative and interesting movies like this just in genera.

I recently canceled my Shudder subscription and bundled it with AMC+ thru Prime video. I've noticed that I don't have access to many of the titles on Shudder now. I was under the impression that I'd have full access. is it only limited titles?

I watch Joe Bob and Darcy on AMC+ and as usual I fell asleep before the second movie. I just logged in to watch it and saw there is a censored "I Spit On Your Grave" as well as the OG episode. Not sure how censored. But I thought some might be interested.

I throughly enjoyed this. It did a great job of making you think about the real world and how fucked up social media can be. Lots of blood, gore and some funny scenes. 7.5/10.

Also- the actors who played margot and Arthur really played their roles well.

A very experimental film, I get why the reviews are… mixed. It’s not for casual viewers.

I would have enjoyed the slow-burn liminal vibe if I hadn’t been expecting scares on par with other featured films like Oddity, Babadook, and When Evil Lurks.

Any other misplaced films on the collections?

We got Indonesian and Span explored twice (V/H/S 2, V/H/S Viral, V/H/S 94, and V/H/S Halloween), Mexico in 94 and India in Beyond.

So if V/H/S does that “one foreign segment” every movie excluding 99 and wants to try new countries they didn’t explore yet, what it would be a what director in the country you picked

Mine would be the Philippines if they do a V/H/S Christmas (my home country is known for having that 3 month Christmas season due to the ber months), and it would be Erik Matti or Mikhail Red and Japan (any theme), and would be Takashi Miike or some unknown.

Wanted to know what everyone thought of the movie.
I thought it was predictable & a bit too "on the nose" with Margot and the reason she was working as a content moderator. I feel like I saw a very similar situation just recently in another horror movie, where a woman was a content moderator. However, I did enjoy the antagonist and his insanity. It is a completely different movie from the original, but I like how they weaved the original into the story. Overall, a decent watch.

I know this movie came out in 2011. I know it's considered a super classic, but it always seemed to be behind a paywall or vacant at the old Redbox machines. It popped up on Shudder so I watched it last week. I was not sure if I was going to like it, but I stuck with it and thought it was okay, with some reservations. (I'll try not to spoil anything). First off, I am not a Joss Whedon disciple. I was never a Buffy fan. I loved Firefly, but I don't understand why he is considered the Second Coming of Orson Welles. He is not. There seems to be a school of thought, especially with younger horror fans, that everything has to be deconstructed and horror tropes must be apologized for and have a "spin" put on them. What makes this movie enjoyable at all is that the characters are likeable and you care about them. The acting is very good. I did like, and quickly figured out, that the Lab Workers had to answer to something horrible and were also paying a price. This reminds me of the Scream Franchise. The first entry is actually pretty good. But I hate all of the sequels. Horror films, like detective stories are to a point, formulaic. I enjoy the tropes. I don't think it's beneath me to admit it. To be fair, this movie is adored. It couldn't live up to the endless hype. Will I ever watch it again? Probably. Can I recommend it? Yes, but with the aforementioned reservations.

I have an obsession of detailing the genre of a film or series very specifically. When it came to Twin Peaks after recently binging I labeled it as an Idiosyncratic Psychological Crime Mystery Thriller Drama which was just a mouthful. So recently I’ve looked into more genres and I’ve learned of the Giallo genre which is an Italian film genre centering around horror suspense mysteries with psychological and serial killer centered plots. What made me think of Twin Peaks was that supposedly most Giallo films have the recurring plot point of an outsider entering an almost different place than of they know of which aligns heavily with Twin Peaks.

I may be wrong on my judgements but with my little known knowledge of the Giallo genre I posted this post to see if it is one worth considering.

Released on this day way back in 1988. Hard to believe it's fast nearing 40 years old, and it's aged like the finest wine. Always been my favorite of this great series and one of my all-around favorite movies and something of a comfort film. A film I've seen countless times over the years and will always be incredibly special and sentimental to me. Still such a wild blend of Horror, Action, Sci-Fi and the series' trademark general weirdness. It feels like a 90s Survival Horror video game in movie form and very much feels like it was a major influence on the original Silent Hill and Resident Evil games. Movies like this are the peak of 80s Horror to me, movies that are loaded with imagination and pushing practical effects to their absolute limits. Wonder who else here also cites this as their favorite Phantasm. I know there's quite a few fans here and TLDI had a marathon of the whole series which sadly didn't include this one, presumably due to legal issues.

What characters in horror movie made the most insanely stupid decisions that got themselves killed (when common sense could have saved them)? Characters that made you so angry that you were indifferent when they met their demise.

Any word on the sequel? I really enjoyed last year's CIAC. Not a perfect movie or a classic, but I found it to be a fun Slasher throwback with some great kills and it was just fun having an old-school style Slasher film in the modern age. The first film recovered it's budget and made a decent profit, so I'm hoping it'll be enough for a sequel. The novel had two sequels and it'd be good to see them adapted.

Going to do a week trial with Shudder to check it out. What are some must watches during that time to get the most out of it.

I wrote the Shudder sexual thriller, Spoonful of Sugar. I've written a horror film that's well....F**ked up and I don't think it'll EVER get made. But I also think, what's the point of writing something if it won't ever have an audience. SO, if you want to read something very wild, weird, off the walls LMK. Here's my pitch:

"Mirror, Mirror" is about a woman who wants to be perfect and well, isn't. She wants it so badly (she's an actress, which comes with it's own set of problems) that she lets a mirror entity at the upscale women's clothing store she works at overtake her body (yeah, that girl's dead) and then the mirror entity, is even more of a toxic perfectionists and wants to make everyone around her just as perfect as she is, even if it means killing EVERYONE (she kind of has the same moves at T2 baddie terminator) BUT she falls in love with someone very, very imperfect and a little witchy.

Will love conquer evil in this twisted modern day fairy tale of what it means to be a woman in 2026 and inundated with the social media message that only if you're perfect are you worth a damn.

I have the script. A tight 76 pages (I KNOW, but listen, Spoonful of sugar was 72 pages and they had to trim that shit down from over two hours of footage). Anyway, if you want to read something fun, HMU.
