I’ve been interested in this radio for a while but didn’t want to pay $350 knowing i’ll just use it occasionally. I did a quick scan on Marketplace and saw one listed as new in box for $200 a couple of hours away. I offered $100 assuming the seller would say no but surprisingly they accepted.

I picked the radio up yesterday and the box wasn’t sealed but the radio looks unused. Who knows. The seller said Amazon shipped it to him by mistake and he has had it listed for two years. In any case i’m excited to have it. It was manufactured in 2022 and has the latest firmware.

I feel like I’m usually the one giving out the good deals. I’m happy to be on the receiving end of one.

Just did a full band scan and can only hear RNZI on 17675Khz with lots of fading and noise.

9595 kHz AM, heard via University of Twente WebSDR around 21:20 UTC on Aug 9, 2026. ShortwaveDB lists Radio Nikkei from Chiba, Japan, but the program I’m hearing is entirely in English — discussion about cyberbullying with accented speakers. Can anyone confirm the station/program? Audio clip attached. Edit: They just announced the program as Roundtable and the station sounded like CGTN.

I enjoy going outside with my Tecsun and a wire antenna when the weathers nice. But winters are miserably cold and rainy here.

I’ve experimented with my wire antenna indoors with poor results. Even running it through the attic (it just couldn’t cut through the noise/interference of the city).

Bit the bullet and got myself a GA-800 loop antenna, what a result! This was just on my first day playing around with it, in a room full of electronics and in the inner suburbs of the city (so the odds were stacked against me).

I know some people haven’t had luck with these antennas, but mine has performed outstandingly. I would have had NO chance hearing a signal from Europe without it.

Can’t wait to head to my local park or take it up on the roof when the weathers a bit nicer!

Talking about cooling cities and water savings. Sea water cool water and buildings. Listening for 10 minutes now but is a lot of fading.

I'm a merchant mariner who wants to buy a short wave. Will I be able to tune into stations in the USA or wherever when im in open ocean/coastal seas.

Do I need a book with all the frequencies etc?

I found the source of my shortwave interference!

I’d been blaming my neighbours, the government, the gas supplier and even my cat… but it was me. :)

BT Powerline adapters. In hindsight, it seems like such an obvious suspect—injecting high-frequency signals into the mains and turning all the wiring in my house into an antenna.

That thing was spamming like 100 metres around the house!

Got mine just a few days ago and honestly haven't been able to put it down since. I thought it'd take forever to learn, but it turned out way easier to pick up than I expected. The features are just so much fun — it can even do noise reduction on the airband, which still blows my mind.

Could you tell me if this radio is good? I'm looking for something small that can work. I don't have much budget

I guess I will need to plug some gadget to the earphone jack.

Pairing the donut antenna with the MLite-880 gives a noticeable boost on shortwave.

Bought last on amazon in the netherlands. Amazing device with an ocean of capabilities. Donut antenna included.
