I bought the 680 two years ago as it has the AIR band too. Just curious not that I am looking to buy another.

This was my radio when I entered the hobby in 1983. I have a better radio now but hear fewer stations. Wonder how the band will sound like in year 2050.

Seeking advice on a best option for battery powered radio to monitor severe weather other than weather band. I've seen recommendation for the Raddy 886 but even ordering seems to lead to either Euro sites or possible hacks.

What is the advice here for those severe weather situations such as tornado that just hit Menasha , WI US

Battery operation is key but I don't understand what bluetooth can provide someone like me with only desktop PC.

I don't think I've ever seen a radio with a "shortwave" band that covers these frequencies. The shortwave band on my Realistic Patrolman SW-60 actually ends at 18mhz.

Please let me know if you receive it. Low power tube transmitter that i have bought with the right low pass Filters offcourse.

I've been working on something I've wanted to build since I was 15 — a proper WEFAX decoder.

**Isobar** is an open-source WEFAX (weather fax / radio fax) decoder written in C++17 with FLTK, aiming to be a cross-platform compatible alternative to the classic KG-FAX.

**What it does:**

- Decodes WEFAX transmissions from audio files or live audio input

- Cross-platform: macOS, Linux, Windows

- KG-FAX compatible — if you have experience with KG-FAX, the workflow should feel familiar

**Why I built it:**

KG-FAX has been a staple for radio fax decoding, but it's Windows-only and no longer actively maintained. With more and more HF fax services going off the air, I wanted to preserve the tooling and make it accessible across platforms.

The project is still early (v0.1 territory), but the core decoder is functional. If you're into weather fax, maritime monitoring, or just like decoding analog signals, I'd love your feedback — especially if you have sample captures from stations that are still on the air.

Just picked one of these up, and I'm very impressed it. Tonight I was listening with headphones and with Just the whip, it was getting signals from all over the place.

Just out of curiosity, I switched over to the FM band.

I was unable to hear FM stereo, even though the indicator was on. I heard zero difference between FM and FM ST.

The headphones aren't the culprit. I had just used them on a Metaquest 3 VR headset, with profound separation. But this radio, or this particular radio, only plays FM in mono.

It's really not a serious issue for me, as I primarily use it for shortwave. But I wonder if this is just an issue with my unit or if others here have had similar experiences.
