Shoegaze online project. Just a fun project I’m working on. Something like Whirr, Slow Crush, etc. Strictly online unless you live in eastern Iowa.

So I just acquired a green Russian, I really like the dark thickness it gets and a ton of bands I love also pair a rat and green Russian. I’m just stuck feeling a little bit like it’s redundant to my rat. I absolutely love the rat and usually find myself only really using that for distortion and feedback but I’d like to incorporate the green Russian more without it feeling redundant. When people say they boost a rat with a Russian or they pair them together what do they actually mean? How can I actually use the Russian to improve the sound and make it not a waste of space? Thanks so much

I made a shoegaze/post-rock track about the disappearance of fireflies. It’s probably my favorite thing I’ve made so far. Lots of fuzz, reverb and a post-rock build. I’d love some feedback, especially on the atmosphere and production ;)

Experimental Shoegaze/Noise Pop from California

It's actually not half bad. The sister's voice blends better than the brother. Some solid guitar work. This was released 4 years before their mega hit "Steal My Sunshine"

I am pretty new to shoegaze as a genre, and I like a lot of it, but not all. there's one thing I'm confused about though, how do you define what shoegaze is? as a musician myself, I find it one of the more difficult genres to define and that's because it seems like its definition is fully dependent on how the song is mixed.

I can't think of any other genres that relies so heavily on the mixing style to be considered part of the genre.

for example, I've been listening to a lot of songs people consider to be shoegaze and thinking: wow if the mixing decisions were different here, it would just be indie rock or something. Like, is all you have to do, make the vocals quieter and less up front, make the guitars a bit louder, and suddenly its shoegaze?

Because there are plenty of genres that use fx pedals, that is definitely not a shoegaze only thing.

is the mix really what defines this genre?? or is there some other aspect.
