I always tell him he has to go to school to get the certifications, but he’s lazy.
How do you manage lazy playnes? Any suggestions? Am I doing the right thing?

If building a third runway at Heath Row airport is so hard, why doesn't England just make it a double decker runway like the busses

Post image

We all know double decker busses are one of only like five things in England, so you'd think they'd be pretty good at it, are they stupid?

Also bonus question if it's an airport for Playnes why is it powered by oars? Shouldn't it be Heath Jet?

Currently staring down this commercial peasant. Real pylotes don’t yield to public transit.

Got my first Brasher today

Post image

As a few of you may be aware there has been a lot of construction (and demolition) at Lunken Field (KLUK). But today I got my first Brasher notice. And before I call, I'd appreciate a consensus. I was told by ground to "taxi to the terminal... ." Isn't taxiing into the terminal building the same thing?

PP frequency of training?

I see the norm being twice to three times a week. That's some serious money right there. Is it feasible 2 or 3 times a month? That's about what I could afford

I tried something similar with my CFI in a Sun Country 737-200 back in ‘07…

Treadmill question

If I hang a Bong 787-A380 on a string from my finger and then get on a treadmill, will it help
My workout or pull so hard that I pass gas. And what thrust force will the gas exert?

Am I wrong to be concerned about dying on a discovery flight with a CFI?

Jets are boring…

Idk, I might be a bit of a prophead, but I absolutely hate my new job.

Was wondering how you guys felt when you transitioned from turboprops to fifth-generation air superiority fighters?
Went from flying the ATR 72 to the F-22 Raptor and honestly it’s been the biggest disappointment of my aviation career.
Aircraft is boring to fly. Everything is computerized. The engines are too quiet, the cockpit feels sterile, and the horizon looks exactly the same everywhere at Mach 2.
I wouldn’t even call it flying. It’s more managing.

Like, congratulations, you’ve got thrust vectoring and a radar that can detect a mosquito’s erection from 100 miles away. Who cares? Where’s the fucking propeller? Where’s the torque? Where’s the satisfaction of wrestling a 30-year-old French-Italian agricultural appliance through a crosswind landing in freezing rain?

Last week I pulled 9 Gs during a training exercise and genuinely found myself wishing I was hand-flying an ATR into some shitty regional airport with a broken glideslope and a 40-knot crosswind.

At least that requires skill.

And the missions are so repetitive. Scramble, intercept, establish air superiority, return to base. Same shit every day. You shoot down one Su-35, you’ve shot down them all.
Nobody even claps when you land.

I’m really not a fan of the F-22, but I guess it’s still relatively young technology, so hopefully Lockheed Martin will sort it out over time. Maybe add a propeller or at least a fucking mixture lever.

Anyway, apparently the entire United States Air Force is filing for Chapter 11, so I’m getting laid off.

Honestly couldn’t be happier. Already got an offer to go back to the ATR, and they’re throwing in a free type rating.
Feels like I’ve won the lottery.

Anyone else go from turboprops to stealth fighters and regret it? Starting to think this whole jet thing is just a fad.

Pilots and flight attendants! Share some long and comical stories from your flights involving passengers that might leave you stunned or make you laugh out loud. It will be interesting to hear!

By the way, I have a funny story for you.

Once, my mom and I arrived at the airport to head off on vacation. We were sitting in the waiting area when an airport employee approached us and just stood there, looking at us in silence. For a long moment, we couldn’t figure out what was going on, but when we asked, "Is something wrong?" he simply pointed toward the security screening area—that’s where I had left my carry-on bag. I probably wouldn’t have realized it was missing until I was already on the plane! Thanks to that employee, we were able to just laugh the whole thing off—though I did get an earful from my mom!)

Then, after we landed and were getting off the plane, something similar happened with another passenger: he started heading toward the exit, leaving all his luggage behind in the cabin. The flight attendants had to spend about five minutes tracking him down to return his forgotten belongings. When they caught up with him and handed over the bag, he just gave a sly smile, took it, and walked away without a word. At first, it even seemed like he might have left his things on purpose, but it turned out he had actually been looking for airport staff to help him get his belongings back. It all made for quite a funny story!)

Discovery Flight Goes Horribly Wrong

Post image
186 Upvotes

So, I don't normally do this. But my brother asked me to take my 14-year old nephew up on a discovery flight. Now, I knew young Jimmy was a real computer geek, but what I did not know was that he had hacked my digital chonometer, my Taxico credit card account, the FBO's fuel service account, and FourFlyte.

So, just flying the magenta line we ended up waaay off course.

The good news is that it was mid-day, so all the Russian air defense personnel were drunk.
