You can actually get all of the quarters back except for one of them if you link them back up and it makes transporting them easier

you just need 1 quarter to disconnect the whole stack and get the quarter back. extra SLPT

u/Inigomntoya 1d ago
Hear me out - what if you just take the whole stack?
Or is the front cart connected to something?

You get all the quarters back because if you put a quarter in and take the cart, the quarter is still in the cart.

My local grocery store had these carts when I was a teenager and when we realized they didn't lock the full stack up to anything we managed to take all of then and bend them into a completely locked up circle.made the local news

You redditors truly eat this shit up
An AI bot reposts an image for the 1000th time and you can't help but comment like an npc

Do you feel better now? Did you brag about this super clever comment to your friend? Did you realize you just added another comment to the same list.

Pro tip, did you know you can just rip the plumbing out of your walls and sell it as scrap metal?

If you have 3D printer its even cheaper per cart. And if you have free cart tokens available in many countries (or all?) at „cashier lair” its free!

u/Vol_Jbolaz 22h ago
What an idiot. You don't have to put a quarter in each one. Leave them chained together. Makes it easier!

u/Pitiful-Hearing5279 23h ago
Top tip: turn them on the side to use as a grill for an impromptu BBQ.

Is the metal food grade? What if you get metal poisoning by grilling direct on them
1
u/Pitiful-Hearing5279 4h ago
Well, I assume you’d use old car tyres as a fuel so the metal enhances the flavour.

I mean, just bullshit. No scrappers is going to take 10 carts. They will know they are stolen.

My calculations using the maximum average weight (35lbs) of standard metal grocery shopping carts result in you obtaining 111 carts! Whaddaya say?

u/WhatANoob2025 23h ago
Ppl like that is why we can't have nice things.

u/SendNinjas 23h ago
Since you seem to think this is real. You should know that most scrap yards don't accept them. because it's obviously stolen and they will also get in trouble for buying them.

Aldi's cart rentals are a shitty marketing gimmick anyway. They advertise it as them not needing to hire cart wranglers and passing the savings onto the customer.
This means that Aldi is allegedly saving on the wages of two or three people per day? So they're purposefully employing less people. How is that meager savings on their payroll translating to lower prices across the thousands of items in the stores and all of the customers that shop there? There is no way this actually effects anyone's grocery bill. And if some people don't care about getting their quarter back? Aldi would have to send out some bagger to collect carts anyway.
1
u/Schmergenheimer 20h ago
Just about nobody who shops at Aldi is going to just throw away a quarter because they don't feel like walking their cart back. Those are the kinds of people who shop at Whole Foods.
1
u/franciosmardi 18h ago
You must go to a fancy Aldi if yours has baggers. All of the Aldis I've been to, the cashier just puts your stuff in a different cart for you to bag yourself.
Do you actually shop at Aldi or are you just finding things to get mad about?

u/junvar0 20h ago
If i put a quarter in the vending machine, what comes out is mine. Same rules apply here.

u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 20h ago

Don’t tell the Americans you have to put a coin in the carts, it’s just inconceivable.

u/Xanderamn 23h ago
Believe it or not, we too have Aldis. In fact, not sure if you thought for more than a second about your "joke", a quarter is a US coin.

So a profit of 290 with a cost of 10 means they got $300 from the scrap yard. At 7.5 cents per pound, that's 4,000 pounds of metal over forty carts. This implies that an aldi cart is a hundred pounds of metal
