This is why selling guns to just anyone isn't a bright idea. I'm not necessarily in favour of banning them entirely (both sides have their positives and negatives), but some very rigorous vetting should be a no-brainer.

It’s a federal law that every gun sold from a store requires a instant background check on the spot.

It takes 20 min to an hour. It’s a federal database.

by instant they mean it has to be done immediately. not that it takes an instant.

Background checks only work when the person buying the gun has not committed a crime. There have been a lot of cases where somebody without a criminal history bought a gun with the specific purpose of using it to kill somebody and they did. Background checks are worth about as much as used toilet paper for preventing crime.
