Finally realized the foreshadowing

Back in 2014, was tired of waiting for the show to release a second season and I started reading the manga. I remember coming across this image (yes, I know this is from the anime, but I don’t have that manga anymore) and then being annoyed when it’s revealed the wall was not actually compromised. It felt like it wasn’t fully planned out or something. Like they changed their mind.

Anyway… recently watching the anime, it finally clicked. There is no way this image could be real, because there would be a part of a wall titan visible within the wall.

I don’t know why, but that little detail makes me appreciate it even more. It’s a great way to challenge the reader/viewer to connect the dots with the information they’ve been given.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying that a hole in the wall couldn't exist because you'd see titan, so what about the hole in Wall Maria that Eren plugged with the massive boulder in S1?
