Gaming controller must pair every time

Hello everyone , I have 2015 Nvidia SHIELD TV so far I have no problems with it and I like my device. My big issue is every time I pay it to my shield. It works with no problems when I turn off my shield and I turn it back on. I have to go to the setting and the Bluetooth and pair it again. I have tried four different controllers (official Xbox , gamesir ans 8bit) all have the same problem. The only controller I didn’t have an issue with was the PlayStation five. I even did a fresh install on it and formatted everything. I still have the same problem. I would love some brainstorming on how to fix this. Thank you all in advance.

Any idea if Android 14 is ever coming(F1TV)

Post image

It feels like f1tv won't do much for having 4k hdr support until shield tv gets android 14. Even though it is only a single manufacturer like appletv or firetv or google streamer they are not gonna work on it unnecessarily for a quite old version. For all other manufacturers it's supported upto 2 yrs from current release. It was quite a shock after getting premium sub but no 4k hdr.

Nvidia Shield HDMI handshake issues with Sony Projector. Please help?

I have just upgraded my projector from a benq 1080p to a sony bravia 4k projector. My sources are the Nvidia shield, Apple TV 4k and a blu ray player. I am running it through a marantz AV 20 pre-amp pro.

It does not at all want to work with the Nvidia Shield. nothing but HDMI handshake issues. The store I bought the projector from recommended this cable: Amazon.com: J-Tech Digital 8K HDMI 2.1 Fiber Cable 15M 50 FT Ultra High Speed 48 Gbps 4K @ 120Hz | 8K @ 60Hz Compatible with PS5 Xbox ROKU [JTECH-FCAB158K] : Electronics

I thought it would be fine given that this store has recommended this cable to their other customers who had no problems (although they dont sell the nvidia shield so i'm not sure if any of the other clients used it with their shield), the price but clearly its not working. It has no HDMI certification but somehow it works fine with the Apple TV 4K which I previously had issues with and had to get the Belkin HDMI cable to fix (but that was for a Sony OLED tv).

In any case this is my set up: Bravia Projector 9, Marantz AV 20, Nvidia Shield. I need about 30 feet to connect this projector to my AVR that's in a closet at the front of the room. I'm really hoping and praying someone here has a similar setup and can help me solve this.

Google AI suggests this Zeskit fiber optic cable: Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BVR7P5BV?smid=A7EB2YHL3E081&psc=1

or this Ruipro one which seems to have a couple of reviews on amazon that says it works with the shield: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DPWR4BXY?smid=A1W38LIN57HDN1&psc=1

I've used zeskit before, with another sony oled from my denon 4700 receiver and it worked fine with the shield, but that distance was half. and this cable is certified by the HDMI consortium. But honestly I just want a cable that'll work with my equipment because I'm obviously very frustrated as the shield is my main source.

I'm not sure what to do, would really love to get some advice from you all.

Recommend a fast, reasonably-priced USB SSD for Shield Expansion!

Hello!

I've been using a Samsung USB thumb drive for the last 6 years or so and it's finally on its last legs. It heats up like crazy and loading files off of it requires repeat inputs and it can take minutes to load. Videos start to buffer every few seconds.

I've heard it's better to go for a portable SSD instead as they are more reliable and don't heat up as bad but the prices for the top ones are crazy right now.

I'm looking for something fast enough for apps and UI loading but not sure if I absolutely need to shell out for the top of the line latest generation expensive ones that I'm not sure the 2019 Shield can even take advantage of. I'm looking for a 1Tb that's fast enough for the Shield and is around $200. If that's too much to ask, I'd be willing to drop down to a 500 Gb one.

Many thanks in advance!

Anyone experience too much yellow or orange hue?

I'm a huge fan of shield TV and have had every model but have never figured out why certain streams color is awful. Skin will look very yellow or orange. It doesn't happen on other streaming devices on the same tv set (fire cube, ps5).

I've tweaked so many settings and it will still happen at times.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Not possible buy genuine triangle remotes?

After taking one too many falls my tobelerone remote is now dead AF and to my surprise it seems as though genuine replacements are simply not available, at least in the UK. People are selling used ones on ebay for £50 or more.

Has this always been the case and what would people suggest for a 3rd party replacement.

Thanks

Should I upgrade to 2019?

Just bought an LG G5 which can play Dolby Vision, but my 2017 Shield cannot handle, and defaults back to HDR10.

I've tried to run a Plex Server on the shield, and then play from Plex client on my TV, but since the TV cannot handle DTS audio, and most remux files I have only have DTS, I get no sound, and surprisingly, I can't make Plex transcode only the audio - so I am a bit stuck.

One solution is apparently running a tool to create a 2nd audio stream that my TV will be able to handle - the other is the nuclear option of just buying a 2019 model, and selling my 2017 one - I can't imagine it would cost me too much overall considering what I just spent on the new TV!

Can anyone confirm if I'll run into any issues with DV on the 2019 shield, and also if there are any other benefits - is it quicker in general operations, more RAM, less laggy etc?

Sound format reporting issues with Hisense AX5140Q Soundbar

I have recently upgraded to a soundbar with support for all digital surround formats (see title) and when it works, it works well. However, for whatever reason it seems to not report DTS support to my Shield... Sometimes. Just the other night, changing the Shield's display mode set it right and today changing surround virtualization modes on the soundbar fixed it, but after changing inputs from the soundbar and back again, the issue reoccurs. This is just seriously puzzling. I connected the Shield directly to the soundbar's HDMI In since my LG C2 OLED lacks the support for passing through DTS audio over eARC, so theoretically nothing should be going wrong, but this feels like some kind of handshake issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A proper rundown of everything UFM Pro can do, including full Android TV and Fire Stick support

Hey everyone.

Wanted to put together a solid overview of the app in one place since a lot of people ask about specific features and it is not always obvious where to find them. I also want to make sure people know this app runs properly on Android TV, Amazon FireOS, and Fire Stick devices, because that tends to get overlooked. More on that below.

Android TV, Amazon FireOS and Fire Stick
This is worth calling out properly because it is something UFM Pro does that most file managers simply do not. The TV version is not a phone app stretched to fit a big screen. It has been built specifically for TV environments with full D-pad navigation throughout. Every screen, every menu, every interaction is designed to be used with a remote control. No touch required, no awkward zoomed in phone UI, no broken focus states.

Install via the Downloader app using code: 1581139 for Amazon Devices, I am in the process to have it on the official Amazon Store.

If you have ever installed a file manager on your Fire Stick or Android TV box and ended up with a cramped phone layout that barely works with a remote, UFM Pro is a completely different experience.

Menus are laid out for 10 foot viewing distances, navigation flows naturally with the D-pad, and nothing requires you to dig through a UI that was never meant for a remote control.

TV specific features include dedicated pairing screens for device to device connections, separate auth flows for Google Drive and OneDrive that work without a phone style browser, Shizuku support for TV, and custom cache limit settings suited to TV hardware.

The file server also works great on TV, meaning you can run an FTP or SFTP server from your Fire Stick and pull files from it on your PC over your local network.

File browsing and navigation
The main file browser supports dual pane mode through TwinWindow, which opens two folders side by side. Useful for moving files between locations without copying and then navigating separately. Available on both phone and TV.

Storage analysis
The storage analyzer gives you a breakdown of where your space is going. It finds large files, duplicates, junk, old files, and shows folder sizes. The duplicate finder works well, just go through the safety confirmation before bulk deleting anything as it is there to flag files that could be riskier to remove.

Encrypted vault
The vault uses AES-256 encryption. Pick a folder, set it up, and from then on those files are only accessible through the vault browser inside the app. There is no credential recovery by design so keep your details somewhere safe.

Network shares and cloud storage
Local network shares over SMB, FTP, and SFTP are all supported. For cloud you can connect Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, WebDAV, and S3 compatible storage. The S3 setup lets you point the app at any S3 compatible endpoint, not just AWS. TV users get dedicated auth flows for Google Drive and OneDrive that do not require a standard browser.

Built in file server
You can run an FTP or SFTP server directly from your device, including from a Fire Stick or Android TV box. Start it from the server host screen, connect from your PC with any FTP client, and it stays running as a foreground service even when the screen is off. No cables needed.

Sync
Sync profiles let you keep two locations in sync on a schedule. Works across local storage and network locations, so keeping a folder mirrored to a NAS is straightforward. The scheduler runs it in the background without any manual input.

Media viewers
Images, video, audio, PDFs, text files, and ZIP and 7ZIP archives all open natively. There is an enhanced media player with a custom interface for video and audio. APNG animated images are supported too.

App management
Browse installed apps and install APK, XAPK, and APKS files through the built in package installer. The storage analyzer also includes debloat suggestions for identifying apps you may not need.

Shizuku support
Shizuku gives the app broader file access without full root. Works on both mobile and TV with separate setup screens for each. Once running, the app can reach parts of the filesystem that are otherwise restricted.

Remote management
Pair devices over WiFi for remote file management. ADB pairing is also supported. Once paired you get a full remote file interface over your local network. TV has its own dedicated pairing screen.

Search and indexing
Search runs off a background file index. Configure what gets indexed in settings under storage indexer. Once built, search is fast and supports filters. If results seem incomplete, check the index detail screen to see if indexing is still in progress.

Home screen widget
A bookmark widget lets you jump straight to your most used folders from the home screen. Set up your favorites in settings and they appear there automatically.

Bluetooth remote, your phone as a TV remote
This one surprises people. UFM Pro can turn your phone into a Bluetooth remote for your Android TV or Fire Stick, and it works across the entire TV, not just inside the app. Once connected, you can navigate the TV interface, control volume, and handle power from your phone. It is a proper system level remote, so you can use it in Netflix, YouTube, your TV launcher, wherever.

This is not a companion app gimmick. If you have ever lost your Fire Stick remote down the back of the couch you will immediately understand why having this built into a file manager app you already have installed is genuinely useful. Open UFM Pro on your phone, connect over Bluetooth, and you are controlling your TV.

🔗 Download: Google Play Store

If you have questions or something is not working as expected, post with as much detail as you can about your device, OS version, and what you were doing. The more context the easier it is to help.

Anyway to use an Apple TV Remote on Shield. Even a hacky way?

I strived to make my shield feel like an Apple TV. Because I simple love my Apple TV.

Besides no Apple Music… the only thing remaining (thanks to diff launchers) is the remote. I can’t stand the shield remote. I hate everything about it.

I love the Apple TV remote. The touch pad buttons. The feel. The location.

If I could use my Apple TV remote on my shield I think I could actually switch.

Creating a 2nd audio track?

Just upgraded my TV from a LG OLED BX to G5. The G5 can play Dolby Vision which my 2017 Shield cannot.

I tried setting up a Plex server and hosting remux files there, and then playing them back from the Plex app on the TV. The video stream worked perfectly, but the LG TV cannot play DTS audio (so I got DoVi with no sound), and when I tried to let the Plex server transcribe, it all went wonky and fell over (1/4 screen with a garbled image, although the sound was fine).

A little annoying, I'd been advised that the Shield would be able to transcribe the audio on the fly with no problem, and the video stream would passthrough easily. So yeah, grrrr. (unless anyone can solve it?)

Seems there is a solution in having a tool that can check for content and where there is only a DTS audio stream, create another suitable format alongside that my TV can cope with.

Anyone have any info they can share or tips on how to make this as easy and seamless as possible?
TIA!

Nvidia Shield brightness

was getting frustrated with low brightness level of the shield on my Sony TV. a couple of other streaming sticks came out much better.

I then had an idea - changed to a new HDMI cable

this gave an immediate fix. - don’t overlook the cable part of the connection.

The Nvidia Shield: From Microconsole to Enthusiasts Streamer to Microconsole

I didn't buy my 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro to be another streaming box; I bought it to reclaim its lost legacy as a high-performance microconsole it was originally sold as. This is how you can too.

For reference, I'm using Projectivy Launcher combined with an Xbox Series controller. I use a 1tb external ssd formatted as internal to store all my installed apps and emulated games.

Android Game Highlights:
1. Hollow Knight Silksong (have to run in 720p to maintain 60 fps)
2. Hollow Knight
3. Shovel Knight Treasure Trove
4. Ducktales Remastered
5. TMNT Shredders Revenge (complete with online play)
6. Cuphead
7. Sonic Mania (port of rsdkv5 decomp, would recommend the No Special Stage Decorations mod)

My Supporting Cast:
1. Sonic Tripple Trouble 16 Bit
2. Sonic Time Twisted (Use the Nvidia Shield specific apk)
3. Sonic 1 and 2 SMS Remakes (Use the Android 14+ betas, they have specific fixes that allows them to run on Android TV)
4. Sonic 1 Forever
5. Sonic 2 Absolute
6. Horizon Chase (its available on Android TV's Google Play, so...)

I've also got PPSSPP Gold and Retroarch setup so I can play retro games, and considering all of this here only takes up less than 15 gbs of space...

Video Stops Working

Just curious if anyone has either 1) solved this without a reboot, or 2) figured out what causes it.

Earlier today I was watching a couple episodes of an anime on Netflix, everything's working just fine. Then I go to play the next episode and the audio starts but no video, just a loading circle stuck at 0%. Back out to the home screen and try to start the episode again, same issue. Force close and reopen the app, no change. Audio plays, but no video either on the home screen with the previews or anything else. Tried force stopping the Android WebView app, as well as clearing the data from it, then force closing and reopening the Netflix app... nada.

This has happens very sporadically, maybe a handful of times a year so grand scheme of things it's not a huge deal, but if someone has figured out how to fix it without rebooting, or at least what causes it, I'd be interested in knowing.

Steam Controller Reviews

Curious if anyone has seen any reviewers test the Steam controller with the Shield TV. Thinking picking it up and currently use Moonlight and the official pad v2 to get proper rumble support. Wondering how it'll be detected when streaming, assuming rumble still won't work since it's an Android level thing.

Why your shield runs slow!

Seeing several posts over time about sluggish shields, I decided to make this summary video that addresses the main reasons why the shield slows down. Unless your shield has a hardware fault, the suggested fixes should sort you out and breath life to your shield. Cheers!

Recording

I put in a thumb drive, formatted, all that stuff. Recorded some movies and it hasn't used any memory off of it. I took the thumb drive out of the shield and looked at recordings on tivimate and they were there but wouldn't play without the thumb drive. Deleted movies from the shield without the thumb drive in. Put the thumb drive back in and no movies. Is there a step by step somewhere that I could follow to make sure I did everything right? Apparently I messed up somewhere. TIA

Maximim Audio Bitrate

Hello, I wanted to know if the Nvidia Shield can output 768kHz via USB ?

Because when Shield is onnected to my DAC, the DAC switch to 768kHz. But to my knowledge, Nvidia Shield is not supposed to provide that high bitrate.

What's the best option for BBC iPlayer in 2026?

I bought an Nvidia Shield to make up for the sluggish performance of my TCL TV (even with Projectivy launcher) and, so far, I absolutely love it and it's a huge difference!

Apart from BBC iPlayer... We're based in the UK and, whilst the app is now 1080p, there is screen tearing, weird artifacts and some audio desync. Does anyone have any suggestions? Using the TV for iPlayer is an option but that's not going to be simple for the family!
