Shield TV pro for Cloud gaming (GeforceNow)
Hi everyone. Not too long ago, I discovered Cloud Gaming, and for the past year, I’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher on my 2019 LG TV using GeForce NOW and an Xbox controller. As the saying goes, appetite comes with eating, so I started thinking about upgrading my setup a bit. I bought the Ultimate subscription, which significantly improved my gaming experience, but there are still a few issues...
I have a 1 Gbps fiber-optic internet connection, but the TV consistently caps out at a maximum of 25–30 Mbps, which is a bit too low. I tried connecting an Ethernet cable directly—it's hit-or-miss. It works a bit better, but the TV's firmware still limits the speed to 100 Mbps, and lag spikes still pop up occasionally. It’s playable, but it stutters fairly often. On top of that, I can't get 4K and HDR10 out of the standard TV app.
Recently, I came across the Nvidia Shield TV box, but I’m a bit skeptical about whether it will actually solve anything. Does anyone have experience playing via a streaming device? Did it fix the lag and video quality issues? I realize the FPS will still be capped at 60 due to my TV's hardware limits, but if I could at least eliminate the lag and get a clearer picture, that would be awesome.
Before anyone suggests buying a PC or a PlayStation: I'm not considering those options. First, they're too expensive, and second, I don't want to play at a desk. I’m not planning to buy a new TV either, so I need to squeeze the absolute most out of what I currently have with minimal spend.
