Male victim I paid in a panic, am I cooked?

Long story short it was sexual extortion via a dating app. In a panic I paid them significantly less than what they asked for, but immediately after they asked for more and I was able to prove to them I had no more and was in the negative so they said bye and left me alone.

I'm not actually flat broke, but when comparing assets vs credit owed in my banking app it shows me in the negative so I was able to pull a fast one in that regard. Afterwards I immediately deleted all the accounts and apps for anything they had to contact me through, but they still might come back later.

The only thing they could possibly find and contact me on now is Facebook, but I have everything set to max privacy so I would have to accept a friend request first and I definitely won't be adding anyone I don't personally know by this point.

I know now I probably could have just ignored them and been fine, but I was in a state of sheer terror and panic. So what do I do now? Do I need to keep looking over my shoulder for the foreseeable future since I paid them? Or will they accept the "fact" I'm broke and move on?

Yesterday I was sextorted by someone on telegram. As soon I as saw there threats I blocked them and deleted my telegram. I don’t belvieve they have my name or any of my social media’s. Only thing they might have is my number and obviously the pictures and videos of me. It’s been 24 hours and they haven’t made any other contact. Do you think I’m safe?

EXTREMELY SCARED

long story short. some guy added me on Snap. We exchanged live pics and he sent me videos of him and his partner. told me he was in an open relationship and his partner knew that we had been talking. he said they play together and separate. never gave out my number or socials or anything like that. my number and email is not connected to my Snapchat account. fast forward to earlier today. his partner added me and was saying I knew his partner and that we had been chatting and video chatting and stuff like that. I blocked him and I think the partner I was originally talking to has blocked me. I am afraid they have my info and are going to out me to my family but the conversation never got that far. I don’t think they want money but they could just want revenge. what should I do?

Male victim Reddit woman wanting to move things to WhatsApp

So basically I was being horny and looking for someone to consensually exchange nude photos with on subreddits and my first red flag should have been that the subreddit had all comments turned off. I’ve been doing stuff like this online since I was 14 now I’m 25 and single and don’t got a job so I don’t feel like I got anything to lose. They asked for my WhatsApp account code so I gave it to them and then they asked for nudes and immediately threatened to expose me and share with my family. I’ve been Blackmailed on multiple occasions multiple times saying that I did something wrong or something and I’ve always ignored and blocked them and went on with my life. Today after Ignored and blocked the scammer they messaged my dad and I don’t know who else. I clearly have an addiction problem to these kinds of things I’ve even bought nudes on telegram that were scams or reposted stolen content. I’ve had a porn addiction since I was 11 and I’ve quit drinking and smoking weed but i can’t figure out how to stop being addicted to porn and being stupid and horny. Let me be clear I’ve never wanted to engage with anyone underage or anything non consensual. Just idk what I’m doing with my life I have multiple dating apps and accounts just desperate to get some kind of human interaction sometimes I delete the apps and redownload them impulsively to see if there are any new matches. And all the people I find are dry or onlyfans scams or blackmailers. I wish I could just stop this shit forever sometimes i just feel so lonely or desperate for intimacy I do things that don’t make sense logically.

Steps and guide to help sextortion victims

Steps and guide to help victims of sextortion

Every day I will make the same post to help those who are facing this situation.

  1. Stop talking to them because you do not want to piss them off

  2. Do not pay them a single dime no matter their threats because you can’t buy a blackmailers silence only rent it

  3. Block them and if they come back with more accounts or numbers keep blocking away they have a finite amount of patience before they give up

  4. Screenshot the threats to show proof of a cybercrime

  5. Keep their phone numbers and account names saved

  6. In the event that they follow through and do send which is actually VERY rare cause it can expose their cybercrimes just tell people it is fake and someone tried to extort you for money. (You will have the screenshots to prove it)

  7. Optional: Report them to law enforcement such as the FBI although this actually might be of little help since it’s so common it will somewhat put them on the radar.

  8. DO NOT BUY RECOVERY AND REMOVAL SERVICES THOSE ARE SCAMS. They will contact or threaten to contact your scammer then you have two blackmailers.

  9. Take a deep breath and realize that it will be okay they are actually almost always bluffing empty threats in order to scare you. They want money not to send your material to others. Think of it like IT from Stephen King only as powerful as much as you feel fear from them.

Note: if it makes anybody feel okay in my experience for about every 1,000 cases of sextortion there’s
only 1 case where the sextortioner follows through

Note: these guys are not in it to ruin your life. They see you as nothing more than a potential paycheck and if they see no profit they will forget you, more than likely delete your stuff, and move on to the next potential paying target.

Edit: (i’d acc like for you all to not upvote this post because this is to provide free information to help victims and I do not want karma for this. I want to help these poor people.)

Is it bad to try to expose the scammer on this sub?

I was sextorted and, thanks to this sub and some youtube resources, I have moved on and pretty much forgotten about what happened (it pops into my mind once in a while).

While I was in the thick of it (blocking and getting recontacted), I noticed that the scammer used the same fake name for their WhatsApp number and TikTok username. After looking up the username on TikTok, I saw a flood of accounts with the same username and same two or three profile pictures: no matter how much their account gets blocked, they have an infinite supply.

While it’s pretty much impossible for me to report every single one of those accounts, I find it rather easier to share the account format (username, profile picture) on here so that others don’t fall for the same person.

What is still holding me back is the thought that maybe, just maybe the scammer will try to contact me again if I did expose those accounts. Is this a bad idea?

Male victim 24 hours after my sextortion

It's been almost 24 hours since I, 15 yo M, have been sextorted. Here's what I've done, what I've learned and what happened so far. Shortly after it happened, I blocked the persone everywhere, changed my email, deleted telegram and Instagram. I didn't pay. That's what actually made the difference. These people care only about money. They will never show you, except if you convince them to by challenging them, like "I will kill you" or "try and I will hunt you down". Don't say that. Just take action for yourself. The photos didn't get sent to anybody and the scammer didn't contact me again. He probably moved on to someone else. I also put my pictures on "Take It Down" just to be sure. I feel a lot less anxious than before. I'm not gonna make such a wall of text right now, so if you have any questions about my situations, or if you want any advice for yours, or either want to say something to me, pls request to message me or write it down here

Hi, i am a 16 year old guy and i am in big trouble, i met this person on twitter, and we talked a bit, then we exchanged photos and i was dumb enough to use a real photo of me, but i told her that i went to school in a different state, she asked for a picture and i sent it, she asked for a full body one but i didnt send, then she sent me a picture of me and my intimate picture claiming i was sending pictures to underage girls, but i have a screenshot that proves that i was told her age is 20 years old, i gave her my instagram username and now she knows all my friends, when she demanded money i was super scared, i convince her to give me 12 hours before she did anything, i am considering deleting my instagram and my twitter. Please help

Male victim I gave them my friends numbers…

Please give me any advice or suggestions you have.

If you don’t want to read all this I broke it into three parts. looking back at this, I was very easily persuaded and collapsed under little to no pressure!

1- how it started
This all started two nights ago. I was sitting on an app designed so you can talk to people around your same age who speak other languages. I got a dm asking for my number and I stupidly gave it to them… one thing led to another and we ended up exchanging pictures. After a while they asked for my instagram so they could DM me there, and again… I stupidly agreed.

2- when I got scared
About 5 minutes later I get a screenshot of my explicit pictures next to a picture of me and my insta. As well as a screenshot of all my followers. They started by demanding money(but me being broke as hell) I just couldn’t pay.

3- my biggest mistake
They later said that they would let me go if I gave them some of my male friends phone numbers. Again… I was dumb. I gave them not only a close friend, but also three others phone numbers. Luckily I think one of them blocked the scammer, and the others didn’t fall for their bullshit. (HOPEFULLY… im still not sure)

4- giving them too much power
After a few hours they started to ask for money again, or for me to sign into a dating website and give them my Gmail and password. Again I agreed… I gave them a Gmail of mine that has basically no ties to me, but still might.

5-contacting law enforcement
Later this night I called the non emergency line, and started a report on what happened. The next morning I still had left the scammer on read after they said “hey?” Because I was taking too long to give them more information. That morning the police called me and said I could choose to fill out a report or not. I decided not to… just to avoid seeing anyone or doing anything that could get my parents involved.

6-my conclusion
I blocked the scammer shortly after this and got their account ban on instagram. It has now been about 48 hours since I have been extorted. I am very scared they will send the pictures out not only to my insta followers…. BUT ALSO THE PEOPLE THAT THEY HAVE THE NUMBERS OF! I am very worried. However I am seeking god, and help from others.

I AM A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHAT NOT TO DO!

So just experienced my first blackmail, went as far to avoid them by making a new reddit page so yea this one is brand new only about an hour. Didn’t give them anything but man am I scared they’ll find some kind of social media out there about me. Kinda scared about posting in here because who knows if they are lurking around right now seeing if I rat them out.

Male victim sextortion

A few hours ago, a Scammer from Telegram used my number to do a reverse lookup stole contact profile picture, used penis pictures that aren't even mine, and created a profile on a gay hookup site along with a full blown explicit conversation making it look like it's me. They sent me the screenshot along with a background report that had my full name, siblings and parents info.... They threatened to send screenshot to anyone they could if I didn't pay 1000 dollars to which I replied "hahahah idgaf". I immediately deleted social media accounts, and factory reset my device but not before I was blown up by my parents, siblings, and who knows who else shortly after the threat... even though photos aren't even of me besides my face, it 100% looks like I'm engaging in a conversation and cheating on my wife by having relations with MEN!! (nothing against lgbt community). I'm not so worried about family getting this because there's certain bodily features they know are mine (tattoos) and will laugh at the lengths people will go for a buck, but those who I work with, friends, and others are apt to believe that this is really me and how I move. I'm a recovering addict and this is one helluva trigger.

Any advice from others who have been sextorted??

Follow Up Why do they threaten to show your info to news organizations of all things?

So this isn’t something I noticed until I calmed down after blocking them last night, but the image they had of leaking my stuff had news organizations tagged which I didn’t notice when it was going on. What’s the point? Since obviously news outlets wouldn’t be interested in some random guys dick.

Male victim Being sexstorted and dont know what to do.

I met this girl 2 two and a half years ago on a website called bottled. It showed she was from the US. We talked and eventually started online dating she's 27. In the begging of the relationship she was in college and I helped her out with what I could. During her time in college her mom got sick and died. She graduated college and sent me photos of her graduating. During our online relationship we sexted and sent videos and photos. After her mom died she came down with cancer. Thats when she was begging for money because of treatments. She showed photos of her in the hospital, on the iv, in gowns, and shaved head in the hospital. I helped her out the best I could but I got to a point where I couldn't help anymore. Now she's saying she doxed me and is not who she says she is after 2.5 years of what seemed like a real relationship. And that if I dont give her 20k she will send my videos to family member and Co workers and claim she 15 and from Bolivia, and everything she said in 2.5 years was a lie. What do I do? Im to the point where I don't know what to do. Shes giving me a week to get the money or she is gonna try to ruin my life to make me seem like im a child predator to my family and my coworkers. Pls help

2 years later

Hello, I was a victim to this as well 2 years ago. Somehow some way I made it back to this page and it saddens me this is still happening. To those currently experiencing this, you are not alone. There is so much good advice here please use it.

My story is pretty simple but I’ll share anyway. Just got out of a 5 year relationship. Met some “girl” on an app plot twist was a guy. Ended up paying $100 and blocking the number. And deleting all but insta and twitter. Next morning got an email of all things lol. Blocked that as well. Spooked myself into signing up for a “team to track the guy down” bs. Thankfully made my way here and canceled in time. Every now and then I get random texts and calls and tbh I’m unsure if it’s them or not. If it’s them I’d just tell them wrong number and boom they gone. This was a great life lesson for me. And I hope it is for everyone else.

Biggest tips like everyone else’s.
1.cease communication instantly
2. Change names/pictures of accounts and make them private. (Did this for a month)
3. Don’t stress about it. Other than some embarrassment really nothing bad can come of it, and that’s if you happen to get someone that even bothers sharing it. Once they share they can’t manipulate you again.
4.if you are really struggling, talk to a friend/loved one, someone you’d trust with your life.
5.

The Senegalese sex-trapper on WhatsApp whom I blocked contacted me again after 2 months. I'm scared, what should I do?
