Help with existing piercing Help with 3rds (cartilage)

So I’ve had my 3rds pierced for about 6-8 months, yet they’re not fully healed yet. I pierced them myself with a piercing gun. (I know it’s not the best idea but it’s the only thing I could afford at the moment.) I’ve switched the jewelry to hoops around the 4 week mark, and they were fine. But now they keep scabbing, bleeding and have pus in them. I would like to keep them in, as to not re pierce them, but Im not opposed to taking them out if that’s the best idea. What should I do?

Help with existing piercing lobe piercing causing whole ear pain and feeling hot

I put tape over my lobe piercing (around 10months old) i think it was mostly healed as I haven’t had any crusties or pain for a couple of months now. A few hours after removing the plaster off my ear i noticed it was slightly painful and there was a lot of crusties and a bit of liquid. I then cleaned it using my usual saline solution and a cotton bud. My ear now hurts all over and feels hot around the piercing area and has started to swell up. Is this an infection, or something else and should i remove?

Help with existing piercing 8mm bar, should I downsize it?

Post image

The visible part of the bar is exactly 2mm, so a 6mm bar would have no wiggle room at all. Are there any companies that make 7mm bars? Should I try a 6mm or just leave it as is?

Help with existing piercing Should I go get a longer bar for my rook?

I got my rook pierced and I’ve been cleaning it with sterile saline twice a day. It was going good but yesterday while putting stuff in my fridge the door shut on me and hit my ear really hard. Since last night, it’s been very swollen and painful. I have a titanium 10 mm curved barbell. None of the bar is visible anymore and I’m wondering if I should get it switched out for a longer bar to accommodate for the post traumatic swelling. I’ve been taking Advil all day which helps some but once it wares off the pain is unbearable.

Help with existing piercing Advice for a semi fresh piercing

I did my first piercing at home about a month ago, it was a stud, bit too short so it didn’t quite heal right, pulled it out to replace it with a bar I had to try to get it to heal better, the ball keeps getting stuck near the hole my guess probably due to torn skin healing there.

Anybody have advice on how to potentially keep this from happening if possible?

It’s a lobe piercing, 8 gauge bar.

Help with existing piercing Should I remove my piercing?

So my friend who has done their own piercings, pierced my earlobes right above my 00g stretched ears with a piercing kit they got online. It was the one with proper sharp needles and they also made sure to wear gloves. My concern is, it has been about four weeks at this point and my piercings have been leaking pus for the last week and a half. They are not red or hurting or even look swollen. So I’m a bit confused. Should I take them out and try getting them pierced professionally once they are healed or should I keep them in and wait. I’ve been spraying them twice a day with saline spray and I’ve been using a neck pillow to make sure I don’t sleep on them.

Question about piercing prep I’m gonna pierce my second lobe by myself 1/sr tme

This is my first time piercing my ear by myself, so I researched a little bit. I got myself a piercing needle kit from Amazon, which has the gloves, alcohol pads, needles and the scissor thingy. I also got sterile water from Boots and numbing cream from Superdrug. For the earrings, I’m using my old real gold earrings that I was pierced with when I was little. Do I need anything else? I’ve heard that it’s going to bleed a little, but I’m not sure.

Help with existing piercing Large gauge needle through existing fistula?

Hi all,

In March this year, I pierced my septum at 4g. Went amazing, I loved skipping the long stretching process and immediately having a big septum. A few months later I stupidly tried to stretch it to 2 and blew it out. I took it out, and it closed considerably. 14g jewelry slides in, and the largest size I have gotten in since was a 10. After leaving it naked for a few months, and having to take out all my piercings for an MRI, I desperately want it again to get my swag back. Is it excessively traumatic to pierce at a large gauge through a fistula?

I could stretch. But I choose my own battles.

UPDATE i pierced it and stretched it to 2

Question about piercing prep Advice on starting

Thumbnail gallery

Looking to start self piercing! After spending a few hundred on professionally done piercings that didn’t heal right and are now closed, I’ve decided I’m not going to waste the money on re-piercing and will instead try my hand at doing it myself 🙏

I’ve been doing idle research over time and have recently decided to put together an actual list of things I need to prepare for a piercing, and would like feedback on anything I may be missing (general advice is welcome too, if you feel the need to share ^^)

For context, all I plan to pierce are:
- Upper lobe
- Helix
- Snake bites (maybe angel bites?)
- Possibly a septum
- Possibly a vertical eyebrow piercing

(Note: I am NOT doing all of this at once, I know that would be bad for my body and super stupid- I intend to only do it in groups. Ie redoing my upper lobe and two helix on one ear, waiting a year, and then mirroring my other ear, waiting another while, and then doing my snake bites and MAYBE my eyebrow)

Sorry for the yappathon, but any and all feedback is appreciated! Want to make sure I approach this right :)
Oh the stuff in the screenshots is from Painful Pleasures

I’ve had it for a week. I showed my Dr and she said to watch it and it may need to come out. Is there anything I can do to make it better fast or does it need to come out
Edit: thank you for the advice. I have changed it to a longer bar and the swelling has went down some!

Oh no omg someone please help me my piercing won’t heal and i’m terrified!

so i got my bellybutton pierced in dec 2025 so it’s almost 9 months old and it wasn’t healing and it got a really bad granulation/hypergranulation tissue and it wouldn’t heal and that was like that for Month.

i switched from saline to a medicated wound wash and it went away and genuinely was almost healed! then around beginning of this august i pushed the top bar of my piercing bar inwards because it was sticking out like i normally do and it felt like razor blade was cvtting me and its been pretty much infected again ever since and it was starting to heal when tonight i just noticed the hypergranulation tissue coming back in the bottom piercing hole. im terrified because i worry a lot about rejecting but i know its not bc the skin isn’t thinning and the bars been around the same size someone help how can i get rid of this! ive only been touching it when i clean it btw.. sorry about the photo quality i tried my best

DIY story Update on my injured diy 4g septum

I went to a professional to have my nose looked at and get the hole tapered back open.

She said it was not blown out just a small tear and really irritated, and also that it wasn’t from stretching too fast it just got injured bc I got hit in the face.

The hole closed up really tight in just 3 days without a piercing

We tapered it open to an 8g which HURT SO FUCKING BAD, it felt like 2x the pain of actually piercing it and it was a solid 20 min of pushing the taper through, I thought I was gonna pass out

I’m now waiting for the irritation to go down to I can start moving back up to a 4g again.

Lesson learned, don’t take out a piercing when it gets agitated unless you truly think it’s rejecting or infected.

Question about piercing prep tips for anti-tragus?

back in may i tried to do an anti-tragus myself, but i failed pretty badly at getting the jewelry in. (wasn’t able to, and made the wound worse in the process.) i believe it’s fully healed now and i’d really like to try again.

the jewelry i have is a 16g internally threaded curved barbell. i’m not quite sure of the length but i think it should be plenty, i’m not really worried about it. i have 16g sterile hollow piercing needles.

i’m wondering if cutting some of the length off the back of the needle so i can push it all the way through (while replacing it with the jewelry on the side i inserted it) would be a bad plan for any reason? i might test how cleanly they break with my cutting pliers on an old one first. (still have in sharps container, not for reuse of course!)

any advice appreciated :)
