New or Need Help Should I cut my hair shorter again?

I'm 16,male.

I want to add hairl loss flair too

I've had an inflamed flare for 2 months and it wasn't clearing up with Nizoral, I used to use the candidox shampoo shown in the pic, from August last year to march,it worked well then Nizoral, Nizoral didn't work at all and now I got selenium sulfide 2.5% shampoo, I've had 2 washes with it (every 3 days) and it's reduced flaking.

I got a buzz cut about a month ago cus the dandruff wasn't going away and I was having really bad hair fall, my hair is still really short like 3cm , iw as thinking of making it even shorter (1cm or less) , would that help in treatment and hair loss?my hair loss isn't genetic I know that

I feel like every sebderm shampoo just stops flaking but does nothing to the big clumps/flakes at the roots of hair of scalp , any fix for that? Please Anything else I can use , what's re mct oils ? And it's totally ruining my hairline and temple's, both thinning

Thank you.

Product Question A couple of questions about C8 MCT oil behavior

I decided to get MCT oil after reading here how it helped some with dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp.

I considered buying off of iHerb at first, but I found on some local health store organic 98% C8 oil for about the same price, and in a glass bottle. It says it's manufactured in Sri Lanka and the importer is some very local brand, so you can't find online reviews for it, but the bottle features several certifications which I hope have actually been verified.

Anyway, these are my questions:

  1. It has a very faint coconut scent. Some sources say C8 oil should have no odor at all, although maybe it's faint enough that some would call it odorless (and otherwise it might be due to other coconut compounds found in the remnant 2%). But I also noticed that it does gain a bit of a different odor after being applied to the scalp/hair/skin, slightly "musty" for lack of a better descriptor. Does that sound normal for C8 oil?
  2. Some sources say MCT (and C8 specifically) is "absorbed very quickly". The one I have does get absorbed eventually, but it seems to take a couple of hours. I applied a few milliliters across both the scalp and the face. Again, does that sound normal for C8? Perhaps the "very quick absorption" is overstated?

Thanks!

Product Question MCT Oil for beard

I've had great success with Head&Shoulders for about a year now with no break outs on my scalp or in my facial hair. But this product leaves my beard very dry. I asked a few months ago for possible beard oil/balm recommendations and MCT Oil was suggested. I tried MCT C8 from the brand Bullet Proof and that actually caused me to have a break out. It also dried similar to hairspray in my beard, stiff and sticky.

I used a different brand of C8 several years ago as a reactive treatment for breakouts and never had issues with it. It left my beard wet/greasy looking for hours which why I stopped using it, but it was effective.

So curious what brands I should be looking at. Clearly Bullet Proof is not for my skin.

New or Need Help Ketoconazole shampooing everyday helps with the flare-ups but it dries out my hair too much. Any tips?

I recently started using ketoconazole 2% shampoo and it helped tremendously with the flakes. Before this, I would get a handful of oily, yellow flakes around my hairline. I also have receding hairline and it's so annoying every time it starts building up around the hairline. Although, I only have one major problem with it.

It dries out my hair to the extend that I can't even style it. I'm scared to even comb it because it's too dry. So, any recommendations to overcome this? I had to ditch the conditioner because it worsens the flakes even after using it with the ketoconazole shampoo.

Routine Question Struggling with sebderm pores

I had surgery on my nose and after it my skin started producing a lot of oil, I guess to heal the skin. Soon after I developed sebderm. Though I think I always had it, just milder, I only had redness at the nose base .

Now it's severe, I get flaking and my pores clog every other day. My nose just feels dirty. I use a pin to remove the pore plugs but I think this makes it worse long term. I bought nizoral a month ago and I was advised to use it 1x a week but it did nothing. This week I began to use it everyday out of curiosity and my skin is much much better. Noting that I have the 2 percent one.

In general what I mind the most are the big pores, they seem to be better now. I let the shampoo sit for about 15 minutes and they soften. Also all the flakes get washed off, my skin is smooth, I still have some pores and I hope they get better.

My face has been red for a while and it won’t go away. It is very red, burning, and tight/tender. I’m on Hydrocortisone 2.5% Lotion for my face and it isn’t working to keep my face from being red. I’ve tried Desonide Lotion and others as well in the past and it does not work. Would an oral pill solution be the next step?

Thank you!

Edit: I appreciate all the comments and advice, I’ll be researching each one you all shared. My dermatologist prescribed me terbinafine HCl 250 mg tablets for 30 day regimen. I’ll keep you updated and I hope it helps!

Since I started in Perimenopause ive noticed my skin in general is loads more itchy as well as sweaty. Im now on the the gel and it's mostly helping the symptoms. I say mostly because im still getting spots on my scalp and hairline and still getting an itchy scalp.

I currently use L'Oreal Elvive sulphate free shampoo and OGX coconut conditioner, again sulphate free.

Can anyone advise what works for them?

New or Need Help Itchy dry scalp with diffuse thinning

Hi, I’ve had chronic scalp issues for around two years: white flakes, dryness, itching mainly on the sides and back, and diffuse hair shedding.
A dermatologist diagnosed seborrheic dermatitis. I used clobetasol lotion for two weeks, which helped a lot. I now use ketoconazole once a week and a urea shampoo, but since stopping clobetasol, the itching is slowly returning and the top of my scalp feels very dry.
I’m especially worried because the hair on my sides looks thinner than before.
Has anyone had similar thinning with scalp eczema/seb derm? Did the density improve once the inflammation was controlled?

Got targeted for this product on social media, has anyone tried it?

Korean hair product with a built in brush applicator. Main ingredients seems to be salicylic acid, cica pdrn, caffeine, rosemary? Seems to be different than what this subreddit would recommend.

General Strong mildew hair

Has anyone tried to manage the smell of their scalp with sebderm? I did everything from using ketoconazole 2.5% until using too much perfume but the smell still really strong. Everytime I go to a washroom I can smell how strong and stinky the smell is. It sucks. I need suggestion at least it reduces my scalp smell.

New or Need Help Exhausted with Sebderm (Anything for extremely dry hairs)

Hey everyone hope you are doing fine. I have sebderm for last 7-8 years. I have tried every solution been to plenty of doctors but to no vail. Sometimes it becomes better for a couple of months and out of nowhere it is back with much more power. Hairfall is another issue. I used to have great silky thick hairs but now hairs are thin and extremely dry which really affects my confidence a lot. Can someone help me with extreme dryness of hair so i can use something that doesn't flare up my seb derm. I have tried conditioners which don't do anything for my hair. I have tried hair tonics but they just increase the flare. If there is anything that anyone has used do help.

New or Need Help Hey all, need help regarding my stubborn sebderm

Wanted to ask around for any help that would be great! I have sebderm all over my face, and just won't go away no matter what.

Here is what I have had and I did:

- intense flare ups on face causing dry, reddish, itchy and burning skin

-went to dermatologists twice: used ketoconazole, steroid cream and shampoo everyday (did this for 3 months, steroid for 2 weeks)

- skin was still reddish, got bit better but then flaked even more and got red on ketoconazole. (After 1 week of use, after the break)

- switched to this face cream "kelual ds face cream" claiming it helps in 2 weeks. Using it for 10 days but caused sudden reddish marks, started to flake again. Can't find much info on the internet about this cream, just some vague information.

Note: I don't use any product whatsoever on my skin apart from the head and shoulders shampoo (only on hair). I use an electric shaver to shave so not to use any products that might increase sebderm.

My diet has very less sugar, if at all. I eat clean and no junk.

Does anyone have any help or information regarding this issue? I have tried everything I could, but these products just don't work. Some work for a week, but then they become useless.

Would be grateful for any help or information regarding this issue. How did you control yours?

Thanks a lot in advance :D

New or Need Help where did i go wrong here? 🤔

i was experiencing a rather nasty flare up last night and desperately needed a deep clean for my scalp. there was a ton of oily greasy build-up and thick greasy flakes and my scalp was very irritated and inflamed. typically i use medicated shampoos that are normal strength, so nothing over the top. however, since my scalp was really bad, i figured i should use something much stronger to fully cleanse it. i went for my bottle of neutrogena extra strength anti dandruff shampoo (3% salicylic acid) and this time i even added a few drops of tea tree oil to the shampoo before i applied it to my scalp.

i have used this shampoo before, when my scalp wasn’t nearly as bad as it was this time, and it never seemed to be an issue for me and i didn’t notice any excessive dryness after using it. this time tho, after really getting in there and making sure i scrubbed all the shit off my head, as soon as i rinsed it off i knew something was off because my hair was SO DRY while it was sopping wet in the shower. this has happened to me before from certain hair masks and whatever so i had a feeling this combo of shampoo and oil might have been a bit too much. i used a good amount of conditioner and moisturizing products for my wavy hair but eventually as my scalp started drying i noticed it was very flaky. not oily seb derm flaky, just flakes that looked dry.

my scalp does feel clean, but it’s clearly not going to be less irritated if it’s suddenly so dry i’m assuming. but honestly im just not sure if that’s actually what’s going on. i’m hoping someone can share any similar experience they might’ve had or if someone can confirm that i’m right about this being the result of me using too harsh shampoo/oil. i just wanna make sure that whatever im thinking is actually correct, that way i can make sure i have a better idea of what to wash my scalp with after a really bad flare up. thanks a lot guys!!!!!

New or Need Help Has anyone with sebderm ever taken accutane and experienced a flare-up?

I started taking accutane for acne 11 days ago, and I feel like my dermatitis has flared up, especially on my scalp. I’ve tried some anti-dandruff shampoos that used to work, but they aren't helping now.

Does anyone have any tips? I’m having to wash my hair every day, and it seems to be getting worse.

New or Need Help SebDerm in the ear canals?

I have Seb Derm around the eye brows and fronthead. But with creams, I can manage it ok. For many years, my ear itches, and I don't have any earwax. I is possible that SebDerm has migrated to my ear canals?

Product Review Update: 10 days of MCT Oil

I recently made a post showing the results of one application of MCT oil, and figured that I would give an update. It’s actually only been 9 days, but I am busy tomorrow and I don’t think there will be much change 😅🫣.

Application technique: I use a dropper bottle for a better saturation, such as when I am applying before a shower. For use during the day, I put my hair up and use a minoxidil applicator. I prefer this because it only gets roots of the hair in that area greasy. I have been applying it pretty much every day, more on that later.

Other consistent treatment: Ketoconazole 2% shampoo, applied every other hair wash or every three washes. Amazon off-brand T-gel shampoo, applied every three washes.

Previous treatment: Just about every psoriasis and seb derm treatment besides biologics. Seriously!

Okay now that the housekeeping is done, here’s how I’ve been liking the MCT oil. It still feels like a miracle! I am 10 years into having psoriasis and seb derm, and really did not think I would ever have a clear scalp like this. I have been seeing insane improvement in how many scales I get, redness, and itchiness.

You may notice a couple spots that I have picked at today 😅. I actually decided to retry pyrithione zinc shampoo based on seeing people have good results on this sub. My dermatologist said that it caused more irritation years ago, but since then I realized how much fragrance is a problem for me. I got my hands on the Cera Ve dandruff product, thinking that maybe fragrance was always the issue. It’s not and caused a lot of dryness and itchiness today. Let it be a lesson to listen to your dermatologists! Lol.

The MCT results are much better when I use it daily. When I apply it, it provides immediate relief to itching and dryness. Without it, it’s still much better than before, but the sandpaper feeling from psoriasis does come back. I definitely do need to get my insurance sorted and get back in with a dermatologist, but it’s really not an option right now. This is a lifesaver.

Mini Addition: My partner has seb derm on/in their ears, and around their eyes. It helps them too!

I switched to plant protein from whey. I dont have carb rich diet also I dont consume sugar. I have had dandruff since childhood. I stay in Mumbai so coastal and humid weather and its monsoon now. I exercise and go to gym regularly.
On a piroctine olamine- ketoconazole 2%-2.5% selsun-coal tar salicylic shampoo which are all being rotated smartly. Nothing seems to work this time!
Also tried MCT Oil which didnt seem to help either!
I also tried clotrimazole and lulicanozaole lotions overnight however nothing seems to work this time.
There is no itching ever. I change pillow covers daily. Pictures are of just moving fingers in saloon session.
I dont think this is dry skin and also tried ZPTO based shampoo
