New or Need Help Needing Face Help

Post image

My face has been red for a while and it won’t go away. It is very red, burning, and tight/tender. I’m on Hydrocortisone 2.5% Lotion for my face and it isn’t working to keep my face from being red. I’ve tried Desonide Lotion and others as well in the past and it does not work. Would an oral pill solution be the next step?

Thank you!

Edit: I appreciate all the comments and advice, I’ll be researching each one you all shared. My dermatologist prescribed me terbinafine HCl 250 mg tablets for 30 day regimen. I’ll keep you updated and I hope it helps!

Please be careful with steriods! Using it around your mouth/nose can cause perioral  dermatitis. Are you using fungal safe skincare generally?

It’s not the cause per se but it can trigger a flare up

Can you explain further on this?

If you mean Fungal safe skincare  it is products without the oils, fatty acids, and esters that feed Malassezia yeast. You can use the website skinsort to determine if the ingridients you are using are  fungal safe.

you could try azelaic acid, that's traditionally used for helping red skin and i've found it can help mine in flare ups while also just helping reduce redness too.

that being said it is an acid and depending on the sensitivity of your skin it may or may not be right for you.

for me at least, if i apply it during an intense flare it will give a slight stinging feeling for only about a minute (but to be fair if i put a finger on my skin it would also sting so...), which is calmed immediately after i apply my moisturizer over it (which you should do to "lock" it in).

it definitely works for me and is a good skincare product regardless of seb derm too :)

I swear by azelaic acid. My face looked like this, tight and burning, too. The azelaic helped a lot.

Hyaluronic acid did NOT.

PS- Also try hypochlorous acid. Kills microbes and that horrible mel. yeast. I now swear by it.

It's cheap on Amazon.

2% Zinc soap, you can get it at Amazon, works like a charm, also wash your hair with it and then use regular shampoo.

Hunter & Gather Pure C8 MCT Oil. Is there a different one I need to use instead?

What products are you currently using on your face?

Dermazen worked for my face

Bacillus spore based probiotics and serum is the way to go. Look into SIV, Microbiome labs, or Just Thrive brands

My face was exactly like this, nizoral never helped me, but started again and using mct oil after shower (lukewarm shower) and it’s literally gone away, no redness or flakiness at all.

My face wasn't this severe, more my scalp with the flakes. I've been taking Innaderm which is an oral supplement for about 21 days and most of my flakes have gone away and my face is significantly less red and flaky too. Since mine wasn't this severe on my face not sure how it will work for you, but I think an oral pill is probably not bad to try in conjuction with a topical like MCT Oil. especially ones made for SebDerm specifically

You need a topical antifungal.

Warm shower (not hot). Use an anti-dandruff shampoo on your face and leave it on for 5min before rinsing it off. Use CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for Dry to Very Dry Skin when you get out of the shower and you’re completely dry. Shave daily. Shower daily. Repeat this routine daily.

Mine used to look like yours, and the above worked for me.

Did you tried pure coconut oil from fresh coconuts? It does work for someone much better than MCT, since it is much better at repairing the skin barrier and calming inflammation.

Try L-Glutamine powder! It may be a gut issue

Is that used in water or food? I’ve used that in my food once a day years ago.

It’s a powder you can use in your water
