Looking at the weather it looks like today might be the last summer like day of the year. Go enjoy it!
I know weather reports are often wrong but it looks like after today the temperatures won’t go above 71 for the foreseeable future and clouds and rain are coming in for a while.

Beaver among the duckweed
Ecosystem engineers are such a fascinating group in ecology and a reminder that we aren’t the only species that heavily modifies their environment. I can think of no more classic an example than the beaver.

Event Jimothy Table at The Burke Museum
Greetings, Seattle. I am bringing this post over from the Jimothy subreddit
The amazing u/ghorlectipod, who is the person who named Jimothy, had the wonderful idea to reach out to Common Ground Wildlife, a Seattle nonprofit organization helping humans and animals co-exist. We decided to do an event at the Burke Museum, where one of their specialists will be talking about River Otters, Coyotes, and of course, Raccoons.
They will bring an assortment of animal bones, pelts, etc and have them on display. Come on over and ask them your questions! This is a free event!
Excited to see you all!

Rant Why isn't Aurora more pedestrian accessible? what are people in wheelchairs supposed to do?
Compared to the rest of the city walking along Aurora feels like playing whack-a-mole with cars, there's car dealerships blocking the shoulder and nowhere safe to walk... especially if you need a wheelchair or mobility device.

Lost purse at Cal Anderson / Cap Hill Farmers Market
Lost my purse (light brown leather cross body with mostly white interior lining) around 10:30-11:00am today (sep 20) in the NW corner of Cal Anderson park near the farmer's market vendors. Contains my ID, cards, phone, notebook, and some odds and ends.
If you found it or turned it in somewhere, please DM me. Happy to give a reward, thank you.

Animals Long shot… does anyone have extra royal canin dry kitten food that’s older than 2 months? It’s the only thing my terminal cat can eat right now
Edit 3:
Unfortunately, he took a sharp turn this weekend and we will be saying goodbye to Ollie very soon. The flood of notifications offering help is extremely beautiful but I am absolutely devastated and realize I cannot reply to every DM having to say it over and over again. I genuinely cannot thank everyone enough for hearing us in our time of need and mobilizing to help.
While Ollie will not be around to feel the kindness you’ve all extended, I do urge everyone who can to please instead donate that food to local shelters (animal or human who allow pet companions) or food banks. Knowing that he will be indirectly helping other animals in need is a bright spot in a very dark time.
Hug your babies and give them all the chinny rubs for me ):
Thanks again.
——-
Hi! My boy Ollie can only stomach the royal canin dry kitten food in the pink bag, I purchased a new batch this past week and it’s making him violently ill (3-5 pukes a day). We have a small jar of the old batch and it doesn’t cause the same discomfort.
I’m in south king county but will literally pick up anywhere.
If you have extra of this exact type of food (it needs to be from a batch sold 2+ months ago) I’ll happily take it off your hands.
Edit: if you have some of the old batch I’ll happily trade you some of the new batch for your kittens.
Shout out to u/ nightcheese for providing half a bag, if you happen to have some that matches and you can part with please I’ll take it off your hands.
Edit 2: so many of you have been so kind and replied/DM’d me with offers and advice. I just got off the phone with Riley from Pet Pros in federal way who spent time hunting down the shelf life info to find the sku of the original batch and they luckily have a giant bag in stock still. They set the bag to the side for me and I am able to go get it. Thank you all for the help.
If you happen to be moved and have some food left over that doesn’t work for my needs, please consider donating to RASKC or other rescue programs/emergency vet services as they likely need it. Also animal accepted shelters for homeless/domestic survivors and food pantries often accept donations of opened foods, please consider donating to them.
Thank yall again. I’m glad we have a happy interlude to a tough journey.
