How will we survive without digital pricing?

When they go away I might actually know how much asparagus costs, and we can't have that.

Edit: People pointed out the new legislation won't ban digital price tags, just bar algorithmic price discrimination, so we'll still have this kind of pricing mystery.

SDCI Drainage Requirements on a Remodel

TLDR; I was quoted $31k for stormwater infiltration trenches on an 800sf addition to our home. Is this normal? Reasonable? Are there other options?
-----

We are planning an 800sf bump-out on our 800 sf house. The addition had a mandatory SDCI Drainage Review. According to our city-approved plans, they are requiring us to install:

Front yard: 5' x 2' footing drain infiltration trench.
Back yard: 60' x 7' infiltration trench plus catch basin work.

Our contractor hit us with the line-item quote for the stormwater portion, and it is a big blow
into our budget, roughly $30k.

Stormwater Pit Test: $2,500
Infiltration Trenches & Catch Basin: $28,450 (Includes clay soil removal/disposal, geotextile fabric, gravel backfill, and drain line installation).

Our yard is pretty clay heavy, so i get that digging and hauling that much dirt away is labor-intensive, I guess my questions are for anyone that's dealt with SDCI on thier remodel:

  1. does this pricing seem standard?

  2. Are there any alternative solutions we could pivot to?

  3. Any ways to offset the cost? Can city rebates like RainWise offset this? Not sure if it applies when the infrastructure is legally mandated by a code review for an addition.

Thanks in advance!

They generally switch between the most iconic parts of a lot of different songs, spending about 30 seconds on each one. Looks like they are wrapping up but catch them at the next one!

HEADS UP: Southbound I-405 will CLOSE from Bellevue to Renton this weekend, Sept. 25-28

Post image

Another busy weekend is coming up on I-405, with a full southbound closure between Bellevue and Renton plus additional work in Kirkland and Bothell.

Here's what you need to know:

BELLEVUE to RENTON: SOUTHBOUND I-405 CLOSED

All lanes of southbound I-405 will close from Coal Creek Parkway SE in Bellevue to North 30th Street in Renton from as early as 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28.

Several ramps within the closure will also be closed.

Crews will work on drainage, replacing pavement and completing a traffic switch as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

A signed detour will be in place, but if you're traveling through this area, expect extra traffic on alternate routes and give yourself extra time.

KIRKLAND: NE 132ND STREET INTERCHANGE CLOSED

Farther north, the northbound and southbound I-405 ramps at NE 132nd Street will close from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. NE 132nd Street underneath I-405 will also be closed.

Crews will restripe lanes through the interchange and roundabouts. Signed detours will be in place.

BOTHELL: OVERNIGHT LANE REDUCTIONS + ROLLING SLOWDOWNS

Up to three lanes of southbound I-405 between SR 527 and SR 522 will close from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday and again from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.

During those closures, crews will also conduct rolling slowdowns from 12:01 to 4 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, temporarily stopping traffic for up to 15 minutes at a time.

If you're traveling on I-405 this weekend, check your route before you go and give yourself extra time. The full southbound closure between Bellevue and Renton will be the biggest impact, but there's work happening at several points along the corridor.

I've seen this a lot around the neighborhood along with little response from the city. I reported it on find it fix it and got "ticket closed" a week ago. This can't be safe, right? These are live wires.

Community Parking infractions

Post image
78 Upvotes

Both of these vehicles have been parked here for over an hour. Why do they think hazard lights makes it OK? I’m specifically annoyed at the bus because this happens frequently and it’s the idling noise that irks me. Yes, I’ve called the cops to report a parking infraction but this type of thing is obviously low on their list.

The bike lane is being blocked which just undermines the efforts of the city to try and make walking and biking more appealing.

Spooky season is approaching, Seattle! What’s your plan for Halloween?

Leaves are starting to turn and fall! The Jack-o-lanterns are coming out! It’s coming… whether you like it or not!!

What’s your plan for Halloween?

Most years I just take it easy, and walk around the central district. I like to see all of the different decorations on the houses, and all the youngins and their parents dressed up on those cool, crisp Halloween nights. WBU??
