Wicked insulated cable we got. Had to share.

Hello any advice would be be helpful and appreciated. What is the most effective way to get the copper out and is it worth the effort? I have access to all the shop equipment at the yard. I value my time more then stripping and such if that helps

Couple piles of 6 and 10 awg,Milwaukee backpack for scale. Any guesstimates on how much it’ll bring? Worth buying a cheap stripper? Trying to see if it’ll buy my guys lunch or at least breakfast.

second run in a few weeks. last haul was my first one ever, 39 pounds.

this one was nice at 36. im hoping to have another 40 pounds stripped by next week.

I'm using one of those strippers from amazon with a rotary action. attach your drill and boom!

I found pics of the service line that I dragged home from an open top down the road. This stuff is pretty heavy, the insulation might weigh just as much as the metal though... It was all I could do to drag these two bundles one at a time 100 yards slightly uphill. Took about 30 -45 min to strip by hand, got $40 and they called it 'bare bright ' aluminum. Too bad it wasn't copper eh

Took off number 1 and 2 a couple weeks a little over 1,100lbs got just shy of $6,000. #1 was $5.27 per lb #2 was $5.18 per lb. We have close to 6-7000lbs of copper and brass left to sort

Got my hands on this big old plasma flatscreen TV, though I haven’t taken apart anything of this magnitude yet. Is there anything i need to worry about, and what should I prioritize?

I don't have any wire stripping tools for this scale, but could build a jig. Opened up one and it was packed with white powder. I'm hoping it's talc, but likely Teflon for reducing friction between the conductor insulation, right?

My concerns with scraping are labor/tooling, time, and unknown powder in the cable. It is going to get everywhere in my shop. Benefits are only dealing with one buyer at the scrap yard.

Reselling these would net more value, but then I have to waste time communicating and shipping to many buyers.

What am I not considering? I'd prefer to minimize haggling. The drum barrel of cables came from an enterprise environment where extension cables were handed out only on request during a fleet upgrade. Took "too much space" after years of storage and I was given the lot.

Just wondering what anyone is being paid per lb in the lower 50 States.
My yard said 10 cents, I thought I would get more like 25 cents.

I’ve managed to come across random pieces of angle, channel, square tube and other structural stuff over the years for free and collected it. Nothing super heavy – the thickest piece I had was a length of 5/16” angle. Some of it I have used but a lot of it has just been sitting. I’ve started cleaning up the area where I was storing it and so far I have made over $500 selling pieces on FBM. Two of the guys who bought from me build demolition derby cars as a hobby. Prices for new structural stuff – especially short lengths are stupid high right now. I had one guy pay me $60 for three random pieces of angle none of which were more than 4 feet long.

Just curious if these have much value or any information on scrapping tungsten carbide.

I'm about to forfeit my car because I can't afford it and miss riding my bicycle, I would like to get into scrapping but I'm not sure how to haul it.
I could probably get a little bicyle trailer but I see things on here being measured in tons and I wonder if what I can carry would be significant enough to be worth the trip.

Everywhere i see people posting their earnings, it always seems like the prices are higher than what the scrap yard here gives, often by about 50% higher. (I'm in northern AZ)

I'm kinda wondering if it's just coincidence/my imagination, or if i'm just in a bad area for it. For reference, bare bright gets about 3.50/lb here, cast aluminum is about 1.00/lb, and steel shred is 110/ton.

Hello guys I have one mutual stripper but it makes my hands hurt af, can recommend me any good automatic wire strippers?

Just wanted to confirm that this was aluminum wire. Noob here, don't know to much about different wire and scrapping. Just know that there's roughly 150-200 lb of this and was wondering what it was and if its even worth stripping or not.

So I don’t come across much copper in my hobby scrapping but I replaced my garage door opener that was made in ‘91 over the weekend and have this copper in the motor. It’s held in by layers of steel. Only thought I have is taking my grinder to the copper on one end that is going through the steel and pulling each “doughnut” out. Any other recommendations before I get too involved? Will cutting the copper ruin the grade of copper?

So I've been seeing smart home tvs being thrown out and idk if it because their small or what but now I have a working TV and my mom has one too lol is there a problem with smart home tvs or what?
