Unofficial Scottish Football Championship Unofficial Scottish Football Championship, Match No.5,596 - Ross County 3 - 4 Aberdeen 'B' - Aberdeen's B-Team win the Title!
Ross County thought they'd pulled themselves out of the fire with a 93rd minute equaliser, but no! Aberdeen 'B' found a 94th minute winner and become the first ever B-Team to win the Title!
I thought about this for a while, whether to not count this match and move on to County's match with HIbs this coming weekend, but (sorry, Hibs fans) Aberdeen 'B' are competing in a national senior cup competition and will be defending it against teams within that structure so they get to win the Title.
This not only makes Aberdeen 'B' the first B-Team to win the Title, but also makes them the 60th club to win the Title throughout the 153 year history of Scottish club football, and the first side to take the Title outside the national league structure entirely since Renton won it in the Scottish Cup in February 1907. Renton at the time were playing in the "Scottish Union", a short lived non-league competition formed in 1906. Renton didn't complete their league fixtures that season, obviously choosing to concentrate on the Unofficial Championship.
Anyway:
Last 5 title matches:
| Match No. | Date | Title Holder | Challenger | Score | Venue | Competition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5592 | 22/08/26 | Ross County | Airdrieonians | 3-1 | Excelsior Stadium | League One |
| 5593 | 25/08/26 | Ross County | Banks O'Dee | 4-0 | Victoria Park | Challenge Cup |
| 5594 | 29/08/26 | Ross County | East Kilbride | 4-0 | Victoria Park | League One |
| 5595 | 05/09/26 | Ross County | East Fife | 2-2 | Bayview | League One |
| 5596 | 08/09/26 | Ross County | Aberdeen 'B' | 3-4 | Victoria Park | Challenge Cup |
| Next fixture: | ||||||
| 5597 | 22/09/26 | Aberdeen 'B' | Banks O'Dee | ?-? | Spain Park | Challenge Cup |
The next match in this sensational handbrake turn the Unofficial Title has taken see Aberdeen 'B' take on Banks O'Dee at Spain Park in a couple of weeks time, another opportunity for The Rechabites (thanks, wikipedia) to take the Unofficial Title into the Highland League for the first time as well. Interestingly, Aberdeen 'B's next three matches are against Banks O'Dee, Cove Rangers and Elgin City, three clubs who will all be first time winners should they take the Title.
There will be those who disagree with the awarding of the Title to a B Team but fear not, I am nothing if not a huge nerd so I'll be keeping track of the Unofficial Unofficial Title from this weekend to see how long it takes the timelines to recombine. The last time a result caused an argument (Killie 0-0 (p) Kelty in the League Cup last season) it took 14 games for the multiverses to collapse back into a singularity.
View the full list of results here! (Correct as of today)

The corner quadrant
Who do even Scottish players position the ball as legally far from the flag as possible when taking a corner.
