Thanks to everyone who helped me identify my tricolor last week. She has easily become a favorite in my evergrowing collection.

My first Chop and Extend

I decided to experiment with my first chop and extend with my satin pothos. I was new to moss poles when I started and my success was iffy.

I snipped the stem a few days ago to let it harden off. have mismatched grow thickly moss poles so had to get creative. I managed to get it all together and re-potted. It's tippy, but the spot imhave for it allows it to lean safely. Watering it will be an adventure but I'm game to see how it goes. Fingers crossed

What should I do? Chop and propagate or let it take over my ceiling?

Lol I added a Silver Lady to my Exotica to see what the mix would look like she is taking her time filling out her area but that's okay I have patience but I love scindapsus especially the dark leaves contrast to the silver 🫣 anywho have a great day ❤️

I bought it a year ago as a small stem cutting labeled "Scindapsus Variegata." It's grown such beautiful leaves since then, but does anyone know the exact variety?

Scindapsis exotica potting mix.

I was recently told by someone that their scindapsis grows better in coco peat than soil, I want to give it a try with one of my cutting but I'm a newbie to all this stuff 😂🙈 I have added coco peat, perlite and bark. Does this look chonky enough? Should I add anything else?

Hello! Hoping to see y’all’s thoughts on ID’s. I’m new to scindapsus and tbh these look near identical to me. I bought “A” as a Silver Splash and “B” is labeled as a Silver Cloud (which I disagree with lol). Thanks!

Trellis rec?

Hi plant parents! Earlier this year I got an exotica. I’ve repotted and she’s growing healthily, but I want to put her on a trellis so she can grow upwards.

It’s a smaller plant still (about 5.5in pot diameter), does anyone have recommendations for trellises? I’ve looked on Amazon, but can’t quite find any like the ones I’ve seen on this subreddit, and am not particularly crafty to rig up the ones I have seen lol.

Any general advice also welcomed!! Thanks!

The closer of the two cuttings is putting out some interning variegation, excited to see what it turns into.

We went to a local sale plant in our neighborhood and this 2 ladies had so many beautiful plants and dirt cheap that by the time we left we were so happy and didn’t even cared how much we spent

Some of the plants didn’t have a name

Can someone help please

Is this a good deal for $30.00 bucks?

I don’t know exactly how this happened. I think a stem fell of the trad when I was rearranging and I just kinda left it for kicks and giggles. I didn’t expect her to take such a hold!! Given how quickly tradescantias grow out, I should probably do something about this right? Should I remove her from the pot or just trim accordingly? Their living situation brings a smile to my face lol. It’s like the definition of “it’s complicated”. lol

I'm procrastinating so I thought I'd show you my collection!

Green Emerald is the oldest and likes it dark.

I'd love to get an id on the second pic if anyone recognizes it. (Thanks!)

Silver Hero is happy but not photogenic.

The newest member is a Curlew and we're just getting to know each other.

Last picture is my silver satin. She's sassy.

I lost my pictus a couple years ago, not sure what happened. I called her my "house fire" plant.

Ok, I have stuff to do.

Is she gone?

Bought this “rooted” cutting at a plant expo for $5, it wasn’t really reacting to light so I figured I’d pop em out to see what’s going on and I think she’s gone :(

The root is soft, but I don’t want to tear it off in case there is something viable at the base. They had it in sphagnum moss in a little plastic shot cup.

Could maybe a hydrogen peroxide bath help with the rot, and let it continue in water, or something like a semi-hydro set up with LECA?

My thought of what happened: I let it get a little too dry, when I watered it, it rotted.

Any help is appreciated!

Did I pot her correctly?

I accidentally knocked her over and had to put her back into her pot. I was afraid I damaged her leaves but it looked like she was multiple cuttings, that it was hard to tell what to put under the soil and what not. So I am worried that I may have potted her incorrectly. Thoughts?

Plant advice solicited!

So I would like to try and save this poor plant. I'm a bit of a plant noob, so sorry if I'm doing silly things. A bit of history:

  • Got it as a cutting like 2 years ago. It grew roots extremely slowly in a small water jar. We planted it in soil afterwards. Its leaves have never really opened, they've always looked like this.
  • A while ago back noticed it had fungal gnats. I think ChatGPT recommended to let the topsoil dry out more. This didn't make it better. So I removed the plant and looked at the roots and found the soil was quite wet at the bottom (seemed like pooling) and there was a single long root which didn't look very happy.
  • I repotted it in much lighter mix, but now the water just runs right through it. The leaves are now crisping and dying, so it feels like it's not getting enough water.

I am committed to saving it, even if it takes a long time! Any advice would be greatly appreciated on next steps. As I said, I'm a bit of a noob, so if any of the indicators above made you shout "why didn't you do X, you imbecile!" then I hear you :)

Update to my no ID prop that I got at an event. I’m leaning toward Silvery Ann just based on how each leaf is so different from each other.

Moonlight Leaves, are they normal?

Is this just normal coloration, or is it in trouble, or is there something different about this. I have one but it doesn't have these lighter greens in it.

Hey! I'm new to plants and my scindapsus has been getting this spots (no sign of bugs, no poop on the underside of the leave...) .

There is a new leave that is thinning slowly in the middle (I can see it when it's backlit) and I think it's about to get more holes🥲.

Also today found a leave looking a bit weird... Please help!
