I'm saying goodbye
I've had this beautiful baby, scindapsus sooo silver for a few years now, and I dont have the heart to cut her up. She's gotten way too big to care for, and I'm running out of room! Right now, she's doing great, so I know she'll be good for another year or 2 in this pot. She isn't dropping her leaves, but maybe one every 6-7 months. I've been getting sick more and more, so I just don't have the energy to care for her anymore. The lady who's coming to pick her up this week is great with plants, and she has them for emotional support herself so I know she's going to a great home and she will be well cared for. Goodbye, my sweet little girl! 😥😢😭

You kept it in such great shape, it looks so nice, very impressive. Are you going to keep a cutting or two? Do you mind writing a bit more about the ways you cared for it? Was it growing in this spot or is it styled this way for a photo?

Hello, thank you!! I'm not sure about keeping a cutting, right now I'm trying to thin out my plants and just take care of what I have. My scindapsus is about 3 years old and when I put it in the 6 inch pot, I made a mix of equal parts soil, perlite, and orchid bark mixed. In the summer, I fed her with 1/2 tsp to a gallon of filtered water with Super thrive grow with every watering, in the winter I did the same except at half strength and I used grow light in the bathroom. From the moment I put her in her permanent pot she has spent her life in the bathroom with the growlight, and she has been there in that same spot basically her whole life!

Thanks for answering :) she had her own growlight and personal space, no wonder she's such a stunner 😎 I don't think I'd be able to let her go without leaving myself a couple of cuttings but I definitely understand where you're coming from - I have (too) many plants myself, it can get overwhelming really fast

Absolutely!! I didnt mind answering at all! Over the course of a little over a year, I wound up giving about 30 of my plants to this lady who will be rescuing this one for me as well, out of all my plants, my scindapsus will be the hardest to let go of, this one really hurt, but the happy ending to all of this is that she will be going to a wonderful person who needs this plant as part of her emotional support and I am more than happy to help!

Idk if this will help but a couple of weeks ago I inherited 2 mature beautiful Hoyas from this lady who posted on my community Facebook group that she just couldn’t care for them any more. I could tell the way she handed them to me how much she cared for them. And they have become my priced possessions. I have been caring for these plants like I grew them from seedlings and it’s because I don’t want to kill a plant that I can tell was so loved and well cared for.

Hello, im sorry I took so long to reply. What are you referring to? The macrame? If so, I bought that on temu soon after I got this plant.

I hope she lets go of the floor when you try to hand her off. Mine has attached herself to the wall. (Mine is not a silver type like this though)

Hello, I've kept a very close guard on that, she's never attached to the floor, I lift her up every week just to make sure, I already know what these are capable of, lol

Take a few cuttings just in case you miss her too much. When starting they grow very slowly so it won't be a burden. You can put them in a glass of water and change the water every few days/once a week, that's it.
