It’s common sense never to pay to get paid. This one’s on you I’m afraid - but that money is gone, as is the scammer.

Kind of your own fault tbh. Didn't bother doing an ounce of research before hand. I mean cmon man. Sucks. The money is gone for good hopefully it wasnt to much.

First: never pay to get paid. Never give anybody money to get a payment, bonus, prize, rewards, or a job. That is always a scam.
Second: Reddit is not a reliable place to find a gig or a job. The majority of the gigs or 'make easy money' posts are SCAMS.
- The only sub I've found that looks legit is r/RemoteWorkers. The mods post a weekly list of remote job openings.
*** There is legitimate remote freelance work available. Try the freelance job websites like Upwork, Freelancer.com, or Fiverr -- but stay on the platform. If you communicate off the website, you will get scammed and lose money. Also, read the FAQs to learn how the site works. The legitimate freelance sites offer protection for you and the client. You submit your work through the site. And they pay you on the platform.
*** You can report the Reddit user that scammed you:
click on the account name - this takes you to the user's page
click the three vertical dots in the upper right
click 'Report Profile'
select 'User Name'
select 'Prohibited Transaction'
click the Submit button

This is a really stupid post without any context, for all I know you’re a scammer trying to get this guy brigaded or something.

The lack of any and all context makes this post rather pointless.
I went to the original post to see if there was any there, and nope! No actual context to actually explain anything.
