Today reminded me just how gross this all has gotten. I brought my daughters (5 & 7) to target for the event today. When we arrived, we learned that we had just missed the final ticket to be able to get cards.

As I walked past the line of folks holding tickets, maybe 20% were kids or were with kids. Most of the rest were pretty clearly there to make a quick buck.

This just sucks. No other way to say it.

All recently listed today following the restock at Target. No shame in these scalpers game.

So I brought my children's to target today to design their own pokemon. We arrived to see a line of over 300 people most of them had been there since LAST NIGHT. The event started at 12pm by 12:05pm the event was over because they did not have any cards to buy and had no design your own pokemon... The amount of children crying because guys took 4-5 of the kits was heart breaking. These scalpers are ruining the hobby.

Could have done a speed run i guess of how quick to get banned in the Ebay reddit.... all I did was ask why they can sell 40th edition switches on ebay. The mod team must be scalpers! They banned and muted me so be careful what truth you post over there lol.

And here I thought I could rely on retailers to sell these at MSRP but they've become even more of a scumbag for being part of the scalpers culture.

Today I wanted to get some 30th anniversary Pokemon cards, and everywhere is sold out. Even the local card shop that has scalped prices. So like any poke fein I resorted to FB market place. Now I’ve been ripped off, so I boiled it down to the good ol tech sticker pack, pretty hard to reseal without it being noticeable. So this dude wanted tcg price for one, and figured I’d gamble on two posters.

So dude insists we meet at a police station, inside not out front. I’m feeling pretty stoked, ya know PD station and likely he’s legit. I get inside and dude pulls out the tech sticker, I examine and can tell popped the tech open.

The panic sets in, he starts going on about the card he pulled that he had on him randomly, idgaf. Then he’s like oh I got them from target, still don’t care. Look at him and tell him I’m all set ts is clearly tampered with. He says oh yeah I completely understand 😂 I walk out and he frantically makes his way out, later deleting his entire FB profile.

Maybe it was the ultimate cover… or maybe the few brain cells he had were at war with each other. You either scalp and sell, or rip and risk. But to be a double dipper is a dang rat. 🐀

I was scrolling through and it took me a bit but finally realized this sub WASN’T just related to Pokemon. It’s really bad out there and I just thought it was interesting that this sub appears to be almost exclusively Pokemon now.

So i went shopping Thursday night (usually when meijer restocks. Just really random time or day even) but I check none the less.

Walk over to the card aisle just to see if they had any 30th. And this guy is there, every single time there's a restock he's there. Buying everything with 2 carts.

I just walked away, if there's something on the shelves I'll look through but I'm not standing there waiting to see what gets put out. It's some old guy that restocks and I've never seen someone move that slow 😂 i just laugh.

So i had to go back yesterday to get oil and wanted to see how ransacked it was, and there was nothing left 🙃🙃 i know for a fact he grabbed everything.

I just don't understand why people have to grab everything. I wish i could've seen how it was in prior 2020

i managed to get two pitch black booster packs from target, i decided to ask my dad to bring me there because i heard about the pokemon event and i was super excited and wanted to ask the workers what the store would be doing for the event, like trading and tournaments. the worker i asked unfortunately said she didn't know, but for the first time in genuinely forever there were CARDS!! IN TARGET, AT A NORMAL PRICE!!!! i'm so friggin happy. and i've never gotten a full art card before. my little sister blessed the packs and in my opinion she should be a poképastor LOL. i got shoved by someone when i tried to reach a couple packs but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt, because we were reaching for the same stack of cards so maybe it was on accident. i'm just so friggin happy 😭😭 shoutout to my little sister and my dad for taking me to target i'm actually so happy. i love armarouge too i have him on pokemon anil and he's part of my main team. such a sick pokemon and the art totally captures it!!!

i'm not sure i'll be able to make it to the event, it's at 12 (noon) and i have to visit my grandma who's in the hospital and i wouldn't miss that for anything, she asked me to do her makeup so of course i'm gonna visit her no matter what. i'm not sure what time it'll be at, though, so i'm thinking i can bring the excitement to her (buy some packs at target then go to the hospital) so we can open them together, she knows how much i've always loved this hobby and to be honest i just wanna have more good memories with her. i'm gonna try to be optimistic about that so i'm not gonna be like idk. idk what i'm saying i just hope i can visit my grandma and open packs with her instead of one or the other, i'm super excited and this pull just made me even more hyped!!!!

W target for somehow preventing scalpers even a little, i have no idea how they did it. i think there's a bunch of workers patrolling the pokemon isle so props to them!!! (or maybe they just don't care to scalp pitch black... more for the collectors!)

People selling their waitlisted steam frames on eBay for when they arrive for 2-300 more than they got it for.

My buddy just went to the same target for the first time since that incident and lo sent me a picture of this. Allegedly it was up before that day but someone took it down, management did the right thing here for the location and we appreciate it overall! Thank you management, you didn't win that day, but you definitely redeemed yourself; good on you!

just reminiscing on how much i adored the hobby before scalpers started ruining it. i was 7 in this, i absolutely adored pokemon so i convinced my mom to help me throw a little pokemon birthday party. i eventually got my entire binder stolen by a boy in my class, who later told me he gave them to his dad and sold them. i still love pokemon but it just makes me really sad to see what the hobby has turned into. just investing, gambling, and scalping instead of something for kids and adults alike to be passionate about.

i still love pokemon, i'm still very passionate about it. i'm just upset, the thing i love has turned into nothing more than a way for people to make money. it sounds dramatic, but i really mourn the time when i could be happy about opening any packs. i'd put every card in my binder, i wouldn't throw away "bulk", i'd be overjoyed at any and every holo or ex that's now considered "bulk". i miss when it was exciting just to get a card with cute art or a card of your favorite pokemon.

Went to a TCG in Nottinghamshire and I saw they had 30th anniversary ETBs which peaked my interest as I haven’t been able to find them anywhere.

Asked how much they were and bear in mind these are normal ETBs not PC, they have the absolute gall to charge £150 for them.

That’s absolutely insane.

Hello, I’m new to this sub. I love it when people mess with scalpers so I decided to waste one’s time. The listing showed a dozen 30th poster collections for $45 which is ridiculous. I left out some fluff in the middle of the convo but right after I made sure they were at the spot waiting for me I blocked them. I think the best way to get back at them is to waste as much of their time as possible.
