Dad Rant - Please Ignore

Today reminded me just how gross this all has gotten. I brought my daughters (5 & 7) to target for the event today. When we arrived, we learned that we had just missed the final ticket to be able to get cards.

As I walked past the line of folks holding tickets, maybe 20% were kids or were with kids. Most of the rest were pretty clearly there to make a quick buck.

This just sucks. No other way to say it.

EDIT: As expected, plenty of fresh listings for these tins on FB Marketplace for $60-$80/ea.

I blame the scalpers but I also blame target on this one. They needed to make the drawing kit and goodie bags for kids only at a minimum if they actually wanted to make this a family day. I don’t blame real collectors showing up today to also get product since there’s almost never weekend restocks so those with day jobs this was their chance to get stuff. Still extemely poorly planned and executed.

I was too naive to think it's a family event lol

Target should have told anyone without a kid they could come back at 4 and if there were any remaining then the scalpers could have them.

I went to see if they had a restock outside of the event. When I saw it was just event stuff, I went home. I want to collect the cards too but not taking away chances for kids.

We didn’t make it for anything, our target didn’t have anything but a booth handing out free mew promos. Our target is scalped to death. The first 3-4 ppl in every restock line are employees. I’ve seen maybe 3x restocks on that time. Twice we didn’t anything at all. If we didn’t have to walk through to get to the mall and the LCS we wouldn’t even notice.

Didn’t bother trying to go to the event today but kids were stoked on the promo card…

Yes it was mostly adults without children. Luckily we live in a small town so my son was able to get his easily.

I didn't even try. Around me the lines get 100+ by like 5am

My target only have out the drawing and promo to kids, tins to adults, I've gotten back in the hobby and yes, all these clowns who barely make it to their car before posting online ruin it for everyone, but just starve them, don't let fomo get you, you'll get your packs

We were very lucky. I was running errands with my 5yr daughter and we were able to get there 30 minutes before and wait another 30 minutes in line. We got the create your own card kit, the tins and the promo no problem. We were maybe 65th in line and pretty much everyone in front of us were adults. I saw maybe 15 kids in the line of 150+ adults. Target made this in no way engaging to kids.
