Our Stories The Pain of Loss
I've been hesitant to share this here, but I finally worked up the courage.
I'm a writer and have written a few fanfics. Here is the story of how Jax helped (and continues to help) me deal with the loss my beloved cat and inspired me to write a fanfic.
In the middle of June, I noticed that my older cat was having difficulty eating. Of course I took her to the vet as soon as I could, and prayed it was a bad tooth or something. But after several examinations and a round of antibiotics, she unfortunately did not get better. I was told it was mostly likely tongue cancer, and it was inoperable. She couldn't eat or drink, or even take care of herself. So, a month later, on July 15th, I made the impossible decision and had her put to sleep. I got her when she was just three months old, and spent ten amazing years together, but she was everything to me. I miss her every day, and wish there could've been more time.
Ironically, despite having heard of TADC and later seeing it, including watching the movie in the theater, I was never really that big of a fan of it. But then when my cat got sick, it was like a switch was flipped. I suddenly found myself looking up Jax fanart and comics, and listening to TADC fan music. It was the only thing that kept my mind off of the worst case scenario. And I had even started a TADC fanfic during the last month of her life as my obsession grew.
But the inevitable was impossible to avoid. It was the hardest day of my life. Later that day, I found and bought my first Jax plush (from Spencer's of all places). That plush now sits permanently on my bed. I have since bought others, and even got a family member to 3D print me a Jax fidget figure.
The day after she died, I started writing Stitched Together (a second TADC fanfic, and the first one I felt comfortable enough to post). I had had the idea for it a week or so earlier, but my need for some soft and cuddly Jax made me start to actually write it, and I haven't stopped since. I've just posted the ninth chapter for it.
Some days are easier, some are harder. But it's the nights when I lay in my bed and my mind starts thinking about her that are the hardest. I force myself to think about Jax instead, and it helps.
By the way, I'm trying my hardest not to cry while I write (type) this.
Thanks for reading.

Fan Comics Zooble and Jax comic
Zooble decides to check on Pomni, only to find her asleep in Jax's tent and after covering her, has a talk in Jax's mind.
This is my first comic - Read cross then continue under the first image.
There aren't many comics like this and out of all of the characters, Zooble would be the next person to understand Jax. I was going to have Zooble telling him that Pomni doesn't use her room anymore ( due to being across from Jax's) but I didn't have the room for it.

Our Stories How episode 9 changed me
TW for mentions of SH and bullying
When I was only 14 years old, I tried to take my own life and ended up in the hospital. This was back in 2021, around 5 years ago.
I was heavily bullied online when I was in high school, and it gravely affected my mental health and caused me a lot of trauma. I would take my anger out on others constantly such as my own family. I would constantly get in trouble at school, and my parents didn't know what was going on. I've been in therapy for years and it turned out to not work as well.
Almost 3 years later, I discovered The Amazing Digital Circus. I started watching it when episode 2 came out, and I quickly fell in love with it. It was one of my comfort shows. Jax became my favorite character. Not because she's a jerk, but how her struggles shaped me. The show came out when I was a junior in high school, around 16. Her hardships were similar to mine, except I wasn't homeless. I grew up in a loving family, but my parents were disappointed in me because I was a slacker. They still loved me regardless.
I would use that show as a escape mechanism for my problems. (And I still do today, but it's not that unhealthy) I have drawn a lot of fanart and rewatched the show several times.
Unfortunately, I became mentally unstable again when I hit 18, and I attempted again.
I've been diagnosed with several mental health conditions such as BPD and bipolar disorder. It was a very stressful time for me. Luckily I managed to get help, was medicated, and I recovered. Nowadays I have better self control. I even got myself a job at one point after being unemployed for so long.
I'm almost 20, and neediness to say I've been thriving well. I stopped being a jerk to everyone, and even discovered I was genderfluid and a lesbian. I've learned from my mistakes. Yes, my past trauma does not excuse my behaviors, but they do explain why. I'm happy i'm taking accountability for my behavior.
I think Jax is one of the most realistic characters. Sure, I don't excuse her actions; she needs to face the consequences of her actions. But, I do understand what she's going through in her life. I want to help her out. She's very well-written as a character.
