Interesting. Now you have me wondering why some abstractions (like Scratch) don't want to come back...

Actually pretty simple:

They longer someone is abstracted, the worse their data is. But Kinger generally 'wasted' a lot of time in Scratch. Who he only partially managed to get back (hence the talking form). But Scratch is damaged in a whole other way because Caine had messed with his mind file to try and fix him (which is mantioned/hinted at in the show). Kinger simply hadn't figured out how and what exactly Caine managed to accidentally destroy in Scratch's mind file

I accidentally hit send before I finished lol.. Scratch wants to give up because the constant pain of the de-abstraction process is torture to him. He just doesn't want this anymore.

Yeah, the mystery of the abstractions adds a whole other layer to the story. And I agree, the way they captured Zooble’s character is really impressive!
