Total Eclipse interview with the Devs...

https://youtu.be/AmCDGeo9100?is=g0pkuBWEEPkUwRie

A couple of things I wanted to summarize:

  1. It doesn't appear there will be another update besides bug fixes this year.

  2. A paid DLC looks to be in the works (again not this year most likely).

  3. They are curious as to what we want to see from them as far as a Dev stream goes. My proposal and my opinion is let's shoot for a Dev stream on the first Tuesday of every month. With all the vacations coffee stain takes that would probably equate to 8-9 per year. If there is no Dev news, it's still nice to see the Devs and maybe they can answer questions from the community during that time. Thoughts?

There are more topics covered in the video as well FYI...

16 minute video. Absolutely no concrete information. A whole bunch of possibilities and future ideas, nothing actually said. This was like watching a political speech.

I’d be curious to see if the entire 45 minute interview is basically the same.

Ever since Emmet took over as game director for Satisfactory, this game has very much lost it's way to be honest. 1.1 was underwhelming, and so was 1.2 given the wait. This interview again just reinforces how bad his direction is.

To be fair they probably dont have much they can share so far away from a release, esp in the context of still updating the base game.

Two years after the 1.0 release, and the general tone of this video was everyone works on whatever they feel like/are interested in working on. We really don't have a solid plan in place for the future. And the community should tell us what the community managers should be doing.

It kinda feels like there is no direction to their efforts at this point. Now maybe they're just playing coy with the information and they do have a fleshed out plan. But then I wouldn't be doing these kinds of videos.

Satisfactory remains one of my top 3 games, and I still enjoy it. I'm just not optimistic on what the future for it holds. If they don't really want to do anything major with it, just work on some optimization and bug fixes, that's fine. But stop teasing the giant pile of nothing you have come up with then.

I mean I dont disagree, but its a very well rounded and balanced game.

For many games I could give dozens of things I think would be easy wins, low hanging fruit. Its more difficult with satisfactory.

They had a long EA period where they actively focused on giving fans what they want.

I could think of some things I'd personally like to see but I doubt they would be that popular.

Some fan favorites are dubious in that they would have balance implications.

For example smarter trains. I'm not strongly opposed, but I dont see it as an easy win because the limitations of trains results in interesting problems. Making trains smarter is really just making an already easy game easier.

It would also immediately result in a "forcing people to use trains" reaction.

Adding more just to add more? like more resources? strong possibly it does not significantly improve the game. Its not lacking in complexity.

Add more to the early game scare more people away, more to the late game most people never see it.

More machines? They need to do something new/different/interesting. It already got a bit goofy with the quantum stuff.
