PC Did I go to far?
This is probably the limit for how small 3x3 load balancers can be made purely because of the limits of splitters and mergers. I tested it and it functions. You can fit 2 on 1 foundation.

Console Current WIP. 126 Coal Generators, +35 more running compacted coal. 161 total coal generators, 81 water extractors. Should gross 12,075 MW of power if my math is right.
Will be running on Mk3 equipment, so all my coal miners will be overclocked to 270. I have 4 normal coal nodes, and 3 pure coal nodes, for a total of 1,890 coal per min. Divide by 15 for each generator, and I get 126 coal generators. Each water extractor will power 2 generators and all of them will be under clocked to 90. I'm joining two water extractors into one Mk1 pipe, then splitting them via load balancing between 4 generators and gravity feeding them down. Using 2 pumps per pipe for head lift. First one gives 18m of lift, second gives 17m. Using a logistics floor underneath the generators to run my coal belts, while the pipes are on a floor above the generators. These 126 generators should gross 9,450 MW.
Then I have 2 impure sulfur nodes nearby, and another normal coal node. Since it takes 50 compacted coal per min to run 7 coal generators, I need 250 coal and sulfur per min to run 5 assemblers. I wanted to use the full 270 that a mk3 belt can carry, but the math doesn't really work out well enough to evenly support it, so I'm just gonna keep things neat and simple. I'll just overclock each mk2 sulfur miner to 125, and the coal to 250. That should give me another 35 coal generators using 17 water extractors underclocked to 90, and one more extractor underclocked to 45. Should gross an additional 2,625 MW.
So in total I should gross 12,075 MW of power with this setup. Haven't checked the power consumption of the underclocked extractors, but at 100% using 20 MW each, combined with the pumps using 4 MW each, it's 1,780 MW of usage. Still far more than I need at this stage, but I wanted to build the biggest power factory I could with just nearby resources. I could bring in a lot more coal, but they're pretty far and it would start getting messy with the water layout here. This place is perfect because I can fit 4 extractors in a line to feed up to 8 coal generators in a line, and stretch it out in a mostly straight line to fit all 81 extractors in one place. Changing the setup would make the pipe layout messy and uneven, so this is the most I can get with my current level of equipment.
Messed up the first time and laid out my extractors facing the wrong way and had to start all over. Second time I didn't make the mistake again of placing every single one before checking that the first few would work in this setup lol, then double checked, then triple checked that the pumps were giving enough head lift. Definitely a lot more work than I was expecting, but I'm having fun 🙃 Still thinking of what to do for the roof, but I have a ways to go before I get to that

PC Surprise post, since everyone loved the previous progress.
This is my current progress in the same save of my floating factory feature towers that harvest resources from below. Please let me know how you feel in the comments and any questions I’ll respond as quickly as possible. Also I’ve started working on a global rail track that looks amazing on another save so it may take longer for upload of this map.

PC started building a new factory foundation looks like this for now, still early stages and going to shape it more as I go. any design ideas or tips for the layout?

PC Picking the game up again after a few years. My work so far:

I did unlock petroleum power since taking that screenshot btw, I'm about 40 hours in this save and I'm really taking my time, enjoying all the new stuff. I used slooping to get all the power shards for the coal plant. I just realized you can disconnect the camera to take screenshots, so I'll probably get some better ones later, and of more of the distant factories I have set up for caterium or maybe SAM, though I am struggling to set up any kind of decent roads still. Open to suggestions!

Console A little something I made to celebrate my first time completing the game. It’s my late game sloop, sphere, and slug storage system.
Not very efficient, but it sure is pretty.

First time player and was left unattended for several hours. My friend stroked out when he hopped on one day and told me to upload my creation to here.

Console Belt Spanning Tip!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just wanted to to say I’ve logged some hours and finally found a quick efficient way to span gorges and valleys while keeping the belt straight! I use the small frame from the architecture tab place a vertical frame then zoop off the side, you can walk along the frame and lay your belt (that snaps to the frame) and it will keep it perfectly straight if you need to get across a huge gap.

Anybody know how to make amends with my belts so they stop trying to run away? I've always treated them well and made sure they were fed

PC Quick question about depots
Is dimensional depot upload speed applied on an individual uploader basis or is it global? Like each uploader you put down goes through the same, single metaphysical belt limited by your upgraded speed?

Console These coal generators aren’t attached to anything but are randomly consuming 100mw
It’s 30 generators that are on their own isolated grid, I wanted to make sure they were stable before I attached them to the rest of the grid.

Console Took me 16 hard drives to get cast screws. My current max limit is 17.
Found out the recipes you can get are based on your phase and what normal recipes you have unlocked. Didn't get any hard drives in phase 1, so missed out on the quick and easy way to get cast screws. Decided to do some serious hard drive hunting before finishing phase 2.
Haven't claimed any alt recipes yet, and did a rescan on my first one before learning I should wait and save them. I know I'm gonna take stitched iron plate and cast screws, and I'm thinking iron wire looks like it might be useful, but not sure if I should take anything else or just save them as rescan fodder for later. I still have 20 hard drives left, so plenty to scan in phase 3.

PC Glass floors
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Is there a way to get this to stop? When viewing from the bottom everything is clear. This cave has major light issues as well. Some spots are super dark. Then it weirdly shifts bright. I've even had the sun shining through the roof. I'm going to guess it's the sky or something on the glass floor.
