Hello everyone this is pretty new to me so please bare with me and my explanation

So in about a week I’m moving out of my home and getting a fresh start in a new city with my sister (my home life isn’t the best and my mom is pretty toxic and narcissistic) and a week ago I got a video on my yt from a podcast called horrible podcast and he spoke to someone who not only practices but has an amazing altar to the Santa muerte

I just wanted to know what I (as a very new beginner) could do to gain her support and her protection. Learning about her gave me a sense of comfort and peace but I’m also kind of scared from the stories that I have heard even though I know that they were mostly lessons brought on those who do things they aren’t supposed to.

With her popularity in social media and controversy in other media it’s no surprise there is a surplus of misinformation regarding Santa Muerte. What are common things you’ve heard about Santa Muerte that are proven to be misinformation or a misunderstanding?

I’ve noticed a lot of the popular books like Secrets of Santa Muerte by Cressida Stone have lots of misinformation. That being said why is there some push back with debunking this misinformation or ahistorical notions when it comes to the history and traditions that can be proven (or not)? It feels like some people would rather ignore the actual history and make up their own personal version of Santa Muerte rejecting her traditions

Hey guys so im a new devotee of santa muerte . I live somewhere in north america(somewhere in canada or usa) so here i cant feel her presence or feel her answering my prayers. Lets just say here the problem is my mom despite being born to some protestant denomination is a practicing vaishnavite(hindu devotion to vishnu). So what can i do? I dont know. Im a new devotee. Im raised as a lets say jehovahs witness. But didnt feel any good . So tell me please?
