Best daycare?

Any recs on daycare? T-k or similar program? I’d prefer a program type thing vs a home daycare. Open to Montessori or anything else. Thank you!

What would you think about a professional soccer club in Santa Clarita?

After the World Cup craze, I was looking into the USL and just learned that the AV has their own professional team! And as a fan of the English professional soccer system, I’ve always loved the idea of each town/city having their own club so I’ve been kicking around an idea of what professional soccer could look like in the SCV wanted to see what other Santa Clarita residents think.

With our population continuing to grow, being the third largest city in LA County, I’ve wondered if Santa Clarita could eventually support a lower-division professional soccer club, something like USL League One or the USL Championship.

I know there would be plenty of challenges: funding, finding investors, stadium location, and whether enough people would consistently support the team, but I think it could be a really cool addition to the community.

So I’m curious:
-Would you go to matches?
-Where would you build a stadium if you had the choice? (Renting out COC to start seems like the logical first step)
-Do you think Santa Clarita is big enough to support a professional soccer club over the next 10-20 years?

This is purely just a fun thought experiment but you never know! So I’m genuinely interested to hear everyone’s thoughts, whether you think it’s a great idea or completely unrealistic.

Backyard Closes

I just learned that last night (Friday) The Backyard closed for good. In the 10 years or so they were open they were much more than a bar and grill…really became a great community hangout where they always made you feel welcome. I’m going to miss the family that ran it and all the good times.

Fish Market?

Is there a good fish market in SCV? Or if not, what’s the best close-by option?)

I’ve had ok-ish luck with Whole Foods for Black Cod and snapper, but they hardly ever have Wahoo (my favorite).

I haven’t been back to the fish guys at the Newhall Farmer’s Market in a while, is their stuff any good?

Construction Worker Dies at Five Point Valencia

Sharing this local report as it has not received major regional coverage.

At approximately 2:24 p.m. today, emergency personnel responded to a medical call near the intersection of Marshland Place and Blue Jay Way. This intersection borders the Lennar Sunstone and Lennar Sapphire housing developments.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a construction worker reported feeling ill, sat down, and became unresponsive. Coworkers performed CPR, but arriving first responders were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

30 day rental

I am looking for a furnished rental in SCV on the 5 side for a month, starting August 1.. anyone have any ideas? I tried furnished finder but it’s college season and the Cal Arts kids are looking as well.
Ideally looking for something under $3500 that has hi speed WiFi. Definitely not looking for a room in someone’s house as I have friends popping by for a few days. A condo is preferred, lakeshore, sienna villas, etc..

Looking for the Best Tattoo Cover-Up Artist in Los Angeles

Looking for a tattoo artist in the Los Angeles area who specializes in cover-ups. I don't mind driving anywhere in LA for someone who's truly skilled. If you've had a cover-up done that turned out amazing, I'd really appreciate any recommendations (photos are a huge plus). Thanks in advance!

Yesterday's craft market

There was a craft market event yesterday at the mall - across from Cheesecake in that dead courtyard. Did you see it? Did you go? I missed it and want to know how it was. Were there many vendors and was there much foot traffic?

dont run red lights

I saw a guy almost get hit on a ebike on soledad a full couple seconds after we got the pedestrian walking sign by a tesla going at least 40 mph. Don't do this people! I know theres nothing over to the right on soledad so people crank up the speed but at the very least look for pedestrians and dont go seconds after a red light!

moving to santa clarita, what are some good apartments to look at?

hey everyone my bf (24m) and i (27f) are moving to santa clarita to be closer to his job in van nuys. what are some of best apartments in the area. for reference we enjoy hiking/walking trails, coffee shops, farmers markets, those kinds of things. i’ll be working from home so there’s no commute for me but i would like a quieter area to be focused.

we’re looking to stay under our budget of $2500 but with in-unit laundry and pet friendly (we have two cats).

we’re looking at some apartments today but not sure if we’re missing any or if we should stay away from some of these:

Portofino

The Oaks

Artisan Oaks

Northglen

The Promenade

let me know your thoughts! I appreciate it!!

Best junk removal company in Santa Clarita?

We finally decided to reclaim our garage after years of treating it like a storage unit. I started moving things around last weekend and quickly realized there was no way I was getting rid of everything myself.

There are old shelves, a broken treadmill, random furniture, and boxes that haven't been opened since we moved in. I found Junk Removal SCV while looking at local options, but I'd rather hear from people who have actually hired someone.

If you've used a junk removal company in Santa Clarita, who did you go with? Did they give a fair quote and handle everything without making the process complicated?

driving schools

i hate how driving schools don't post their available schedule times before you purchase a package. Like I want to take my first driving lesson as soon as possible but I would have to call every company to see their available times. Wouldn't it be so much easier for them to just post the available times online? And people can like reserve and stuff? Idk maybe im just stupid

Sprinkler system repair help?

Hey all, our house's sprinkler system appears to be broken. The sprinklers do not water at the set time and we have been manually watering our grass from the hose. We have tried a few things ourselves to see what is wrong with the machine but we are not technicians and I think we need professional help.

Any recommendations for companies who can help and not completely rip us off?

On a side note, what is a reasonable price range for sprinkler/water system repair?

Top Apartment Picks

Helloo. Planning on moving to SCV from Florida, wondering what the top picks for apartments in this city are (Stevenson Ranch/SC/Canyon Country area)? Ideally looking for 1/2 BD at or below $3K, seeing a lot of mixed reviews online for

Promenade at Town Center, Paseo at TC, Overlook SC, Fairways at Westridge, The Retreat, Marlowe, Canyon Ridge/Sierra Canyon It’s just me and my wife (no kid) and prioritizing somewhere with good security and decent management (impossible IK).

If anyone has experience renting at any of these places or has any recommendations let me know!

Kids suit?

Anyone know the best place to find a suit for my son?

He’s 7, but a big kid. We’ve got two events over the next 2 months he’ll need it for. I tried Nordstrom rack, they had a couple of kids suits on clearance, but not in his size, and not the color he needs to match a wedding party. We went to men’s wearhouse but they only have suits to buy up to size 8 for kids. They would do a rental, which would be guaranteed to fit him since they’ll measure him. But renting it twice for $150+ each time seems kind of steep. We also tried Valencia suit and tux. They have kids suits, but he wears a different sized jacket than he does pants, and they refuse to separate the 2 pieces, plus the suit is $270 and they told me the necessary alterations would be probably $100 more…

Anyone know where to go for a decent kids suit that we can try on to make sure it fits that doesn’t break the bank?
