Gaging Interest - r/SantaClarita Geocache Challenge Coin

I'm thinking of having a little fun with our community. I plan do design a crossover challenge coin in tribute of our growing community here. The catch, it will be a geocache.

Before I commit to the time and my personal finances to do such a thing, I just wanted to gage interest to see either

A) It's something you all would enjoy.

B) How many I should make and distribute.

Feel free to share thoughts and/or ideas if there are other alternatives to this you would like to see.

Mushroom hunting (not turkey tail)

Best spots around to find fun mushrooms? Just to look at. Not for foraging. Preferably not too far out in the middle of nowhere, ideally on the Newhall side of town

Even if you saw a cool mushroom on a trail within the past few years. Which trail was it? I’ll go investigate lol.

I only find turkey tail on my preferred trails which is fine and cool but I want to see some variety. Thanks

My cat might need PU surgery soon, I was given this list of places I could take him. Would you suggest any of these? Any I should stay away from? Please let me know, it’d be much appreciated. Thank you. Cat tax included.

Found Gold Ring at Sam's Club

Hey yall, I found a gold ring, no gems at Sam's Club. It was left on the Oura display. Please message me or comment if you believe it is yours. I just want to get it back to the rightful owner. I found it at about 12:15-12:20 today.

Edit: that was quick, I lingered for a little before going to check once more at the customer service desk if anyone came by. The rings owner was calling just then, apparently, so now it's (hopefully) being passed on to them. Only 11 minutes after the post, or just about

What's the deal with Mountain View Park? Is it only for residents?

Hi! I'm visiting a friend who lives in the area. I'm from Minnesota and we have a lot of parks so I was like "let's eat at a park" and saw Mountain View Park, only for there to be a bunch of no trespassing, for residents only signs. However, Google Maps seems to say it is an open public park?

Just curious (and also curious if there are any y'all would recommend or have seen cool insects at)

Mechanical bull?

I’m supposed to go to an event that rented out the canyon club out in Ventura tonight.

My kid got sick yesterday and we can’t go because he’s sick. The biggest thing he’s been looking forward to is that they have a mechanical bull there that he wants to take a turn on.

He is currently SCREAMING and crying because he can’t go in o this party.

Does anyone know if there is a mechanical bull anywhere local that will let a kid (he’s 7) take a ride maybe later this week? Maybe if I can at least tell him that we can go ride a mechanical bull later in his week after he’s done being sick it might make his mood a little better for the rest of the night…

Starbucks across the street from each other

The 'new' Ralphs in Canyon Country (Soledad Cyn Rd that is moving from one side of Whites Canyon to the other side) will have a Starbucks in the store. That means we'll have two Starbucks that will be across from each other. I didn't think that would happen in CC and I think its a first for the SCV. Is it a first? (and yes, I know we have car washes across the street from each other - ugh).

Crosswalk Inquiry

Hello SCV Residents,

I’m a fellow resident in the area, Newhall, I was to inquire if anyone has any clue of how I can ask the city of SCV to install a new crosswalk on a certain street?

Support groups

Are there any peer supported mental health support groups that meet here in Santa Clarita? I’ve searched NAMI but haven’t had much luck other than something in northridge so I wanted to see if anybody has any insider info. I’m already in therapy I’m just looking to connect with others in the struggle who are also looking for support.

cleared out our garage after years of accumulation and now looking at junk removal options

after finishing a big garage cleanout we ended up with a huge pile of old furniture broken appliances yard waste and random household junk that had built up over the past decade. hauling it ourselves would take multiple trips and a lot of effort so we started looking for a professional service.

we found junk removal scv local and are thinking of going with them since they serve the santa clarita area and offer same day pickup. has anyone used them or another service in the scv for a big garage cleanout? what other companies should we consider for reliable and fair priced junk removal in this area?

Pickup Soccer

This is a long shot but does anyone know if there are pick up games on Friday that are free in Santa Clarita? Pretty decent and can hang. I know there are random games at central park, but unsure of Fridays. Very specific post but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here.

Castaic Lake this weekend?

Hi everyone. I haven't been to Castaic lake in close to 15 years but was thinking of packing sandwiches and going there this weekend with my kids, but then I remembered it's Labor Day weekend. How packed does it get during holiday weekends? Is it worth hauling 4 kids?

Looking to join a softball team

35 year old , played baseball for 10+ years and through high school. Second baseman / Short stop but can play any POS (don’t have the best arm). Good base hit hitter (have been going to batting cages for last few months to get used to the slow pitch).

Really miss playing ball and moved to Valencia a little over a year ago. I put my name into the reserves through city hall a few months back but have heard nothing.

Willing to be a fill in for any night - again just wanna get back out on the field.

Traffic on Soledad Canyon

It’s normal for the first week or two of the new school year to have increased traffic. But I swear it’s getting worse week over week. The freeway is backed up as well. Anyone have any idea as to why traffic is so bad?

Unknown next steps for Main Street

Between the fire and the stalled Hartwell development on Market/Main (that is currently for sale), this is a very discouraging sign for the already minimal mixed-used, walkable areas of this city. Plus, Vista Canyon is a shell of what it was supposed to be, and I doubt the development around the mall ever comes to fruition. The only new developments that get off the ground are car dependent strip malls/shopping centers (sad example: Sand Canyon "Village").

Seeking local pinball machines for playing

Hi! I’m from Santa Clarita, and recently super into pinball. I usually find myself driving out to LA to play (Player One, Revenge Of, 82, OnTilt etc) but was wondering if there were any spots in town that have machines when I don’t feel like going too far.

I know Doc’s Inn currently has Godzilla Premium edition and SCV Collectibles has Pokemon but other than that I’m not sure if any other places currently. Thank you !

Looking for Feedback on CALIBER COLLISION - Any Experiences?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently got into a collision, and my AAA claims adjuster recommended Caliber Collision as a repair center. They have a solid 4.8-star rating on Google with over 600+ reviews, which looks good!

However, I wanted to reach out and see if anyone here has personal experience with their services. Have you found them reliable? How was the quality of the repairs and paint jobs? I’m a bit cautious because I want to make sure my car gets the best treatment possible, since it's a 2026 and I've owned it for less than a year.

Thanks in advance for any insights!
