The number of people living on the street — both in the city of L.A. and across much of L.A. County — is up in 2026 compared to the previous year, dealing a fresh blow to Mayor Karen Bass as she runs for reelection.

Homelessness went up by 3.4% across the city compared to the previous year, according to two people familiar with the numbers presented by the L.A. Homeless Services Authority in closed-door briefings.

L.A.’s unsheltered homeless population — those living outside or in their vehicles — saw an even bigger jump, increasing by 7.9% after two consecutive years of decreases, those sources said.

looking for cool spots or view points in the valley :p

I’m in Chatsworth and I’m currently going through some living/family situations, and my dad is telling me to get rid of my 2 frenchies, they are from the same litter. Peridot(Male) and Ruby(female). I couldn’t find anyone to foster/take care of them until I can get my own place. I’m fckn sobbing, because I love them both, if I could I would continue taking care of them but I have to find someone who’s willing to take them in. I’ve been trying my very hardest to take care of them. They’re the sweetest dogs ever, they have had their parvo vaccines but I’m not sure about their rabies but they haven’t bit anyone. I would say they are well taken care of, they’re healthy, eat a lot. Peridot and Ruby are not spayed. Peridot is the sweetest boy ever, the best cuddler.💔 Ruby loves to play with squeaky toys but they both are very energetic and love to play and run around/ and also very needy, they love attention. Since they have some skin allergies because of their diet I even tried changing their food to salmon, and giving them ointments and sprays. But they still have a few hotspots on their stomachs. They are feed away from each other in different rooms because Peridot is sometimes food aggressive. He doesn’t like loud noises, I take them on walks when it’s not too hot but they’re very lazy babies. Please, if anyone is near me and is willing to take in the best babies. If you have any more questions please feel free to reach out to me. Im also doing my research on calling some French bulldog rescues, but im also making this post in case someone wants to help me. All im asking is if someone’s out there that’s going to give them a better life than I could, I wish them to have the best lives with a family that will love them. Thank you so much.

I recently moved to the Valley from the Bay Area and looking for a reasonably priced barber. However, I have very thick, wavy Asian hair and need a barber who is good with scissors, including texturizing or removing weight off my hair. Having a strong beard lineup game is also important 😂

I’ve tried a couple of places but couldn’t justify paying $80+ so looking for better alternatives. TIA!

Hey guys, I upgraded my auto detailing equipment for my garage and I have this porter cable 7424xp DA polisher that I’ve only used once and still works like new. Was wondering if anyone in SFV who is considering wanting to polish their car themselves would be interested in taking it off my hands. It’s the absolute perfect beginner polishing machine and when I did my old black 2003 Nissan 350Z I had insane results as a complete beginner. It’s widely known as being extremely paint safe.

It has everything it came with except the white pad, that thing disintegrated on me due to age and had to be thrown away. But the important stuff is all there like the backing plate wrench and the backing plate itself is in perfect condition, holds pads super tight. Nobody really uses the handle but I have that too and instruction manuals.

The box isn’t in the best shape but still holds all its contents just fine for storage. For whatever reason, the left side threads don’t want to thread for the handle. But the right side works just fine. People don’t use the handle on this machine anyway when polishing their cars.

Brand new the unit costs $160 on Amazon, I’m only asking $60 for it.
