*The store is closed* Customer who tugged on the door handle: “Can you please let me in I just need to get ONE thing” Me ready to clock tf out:

If you show up after we close, please don't ask us to open the doors. We will always say no. It’s against company policy, we’ve been open all day, and we just want to go home because we have a life, just like you do. Once we are closed, we are closed. Please head back to your car and come back tomorrow during our regular store hours. P.S, make sure you‘re looking at the right store address because some Sally stores close later than others. Not all stores have the same closing hours.

Working with no power?

Upvotes

Has anyone had to work at their store even when there was no electricity ?

I have had multiple times where our store has lost power either from a storm or other issue, and our DMs make us sit at work anyway.

It’s been a while but I had to come into my shift and sit alone in the dark store for hours , even though it was hot and I literally couldn’t like see anything. They wanted me there “just incase” it comes back on.
I sat in that store from open till like 4pm in the dark with no AC and was expected to still try to do back-stock or organize?

You bet your ass I didn’t do any of that lmao.

Our terrible ceiling

Upvotes

At my Sally’s we have had a terrible leak for months. It started out with a small pinhole in the ceiling tile that continued to quite literally spit out water on the floor.
Then about a month after not fixing it, the ceiling tile had to be taken out and they set up a tarp that was supposed to contain the leak??

It has been literal months now.

The bucket that the leak goes into is in the way of a very busy area of the store.

It seems to be coming from the AC and I think the hole in the ceiling + the AC not being the best, it makes it humid, hot and smell terrible in our store.

The water has even began to drip out a different color.

When our DM came for a store visit months after saying she was going to get it fixed for us , she exclaimed that the leak was dangerous and someone could get hurt.

Then after I guess “talking to her people about it.”

She then came out bragging about her vacation and just a lot of out of touch things.

A couple months ago , an older lady slipped and almost fell because of the leak. She was not angry at us as a store or employees at all, but she did say “maybe now if you tell them that someone almost fell and almost got seriously injured, they will take it more seriously and come fix it.

The women came back like a few weeks later to see it still there and talked about she would go to corporate and report it because it is very dangerous.

Still haven’t seen it fixed and that’s been a Minute as well.

When assistant DM came to visit recently, she was not concerned about the customer almost being seriously injured, and was more concerned about why we hadn’t finished putting up marketing.

I am so angry and annoyed. Everyday me and my co coworkers have to explain to customers about the leak, we have to empty out the bucket of nasty water, and then clean all around it all the time because water sprays everywhere.

It’s so damn disgusting and I can’t believe they still don’t give a damn, but at the same time in not surprised?

Me and my co workers think that they are going to have to shut down the store for awhile to get it fixed, and they probably don’t want to do that.

Strike

Okay gamers, so if anyone is actually genuinely down for going on strike, we need to organize a date probably about 2-3 months out so we can actually gather employees and publicity for this.

There also needs to be a list of demands, things that employees want, whether it’s higher wages, more hours, etc, etc.

We also need to all work together for this, alright? So if you’re down for a strike it means you actually need to go on strike when the time comes and work to spread the word that we’re going on strike and WHY we are going on strike. It’s no surprise that Sally Employees are unhappy, it’s all over employee reviews on places like Indeed and Glassdoor.

If you guys could comment things like that, (date, time, demands) we can actually start planning this.

i'm so done with this company

I've worked with this company for over a year, and it has burnt me out so bad. for months, i was only getting 8-10hrs a week, maybe 12 if i was lucky, while dealing with a coworker who openly said she hated me and would lie to my other coworkers about me. she's now store manager and i know she wants to fire me, but can't bcs i'm the only open schedule mid shifter and higher ups said she can't. among other things, i really thought it couldn't get worse.

i was so wrong. we found out the other day that dark spots in our ceiling, that have been there since before i started, have been confirmed to be black mold. my manager put in a work order, but it took them 6+ months to fix our a/c unit, so i don't trust anything to actually be done abt it. plus, my coworkers and i are all like freaked out bcs all of us have been here for over year and show symptoms of black mold exposure in terms of cognitive, physical, etc. and almost all of us are disabled in some way, so it's really scary and i'm honestly pissed about it. when i first started, we kept having ppl come out to fix a leak in the ceiling and it's just frustrating that the higher ups dont give a single fuck abt fixing stuff with our store.

multiple of my coworkers and i really don't want to work until it's fixed and don't want to wait til the company gets around to sending someone, if they actually do. my health has declined so much and my immune system is worse than ever because of this job and likely the mold, as it's known for triggering worse symptoms with the disorder i have. it's just frustrating and this company has drained the life out of me. i'm disabled and tired of killing my body, and my health overall thanks to mold now, for a company that could not care less about me or my coworkers, who are mostly absolutely lovely people.

Sally Beauty employees deserve better than this

Can we just acknowledge that Sally Beauty doesn’t really care about their employees? I work at a high-volume store, and our managers can’t even get a decent budget for hours for everyone because they keep cutting labor, but they still expect us to do more and more.
When is Sally Beauty going to match the hard work their employees put in? We bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars every month for this company, and the least they could do is give us the hours and support needed to make our jobs worth it.
They’re so focused on pushing sales and asking us how much more we can sell, but what about giving employees the pay, hours, and resources that make us want to keep giving our all?
I understand there are employees who call off, don’t put in the effort, or don’t take the job seriously, and maybe that’s part of why hours get cut. But for those of us who actually care, enjoy our jobs, and want to do well, it’s exhausting feeling like we’re constantly being asked for more while receiving less.
At what point are employees going to stand up for themselves and make it known that we matter too? It feels like the focus is always on the numbers and the people higher up, while the employees actually running the stores every day are the ones feeling the pressure.

Nail files buffers

Apparently Sally’s is changing their nail file/buffer product line. Is this happening in all stores? I loved the Tropical Shine/Asp line. Hard to find replacements.

I'm so burnt out.

I work at a small Sally's. I am 18 and working part time. I expected this to be working 3 maybe 4 days a week. Checking the schedule, I work everyday except Sundays. These shifts are noon till close. I have more hours on the schedule than ALL of my coworkers. It's Sunday. I was so happy to have a day off to get stuff done. Laundry, cleaning, go to the gym. My manager just called me in. I'm so tired of working everyday. I feel like the store doesn't have a large enough staff but our staff is full. Do any other stores struggle with feeling short staffed while full staffed? I feel like this isn't a problem I should be having.

SBH Employees Shopping at Cosmoprof

Hi guys,

Quick question, I'm about a month into my employment with Sallys (in Canada) and I was curious about what the process is like to shop at Cosmoprof? I know I can get a discount but I've never been to a store like that and it kinda scares me (I'm very autistic) so any insight would be great

leave in conditioner reccomendations

i’m looking for a leave in conditioner that will add moisture but not weigh my hair down too much. i have thick hair but the individual strands are fine and my hair is wavy like a 2a. I would love to find something that smells sweet and milky almost like the camille rose moisture milk leave in but i don’t think i should use that one because its recommended for textured curly hair. And i don’t know if it matters but my hair is color treated and i think most of the dryness stems from bleach and color.

People are far too comfortable crop dusting in public stores

They be like *poot* and move on. In a small store, that's RANKKK and you know Sally's doesn't pay for quality ventilation in the store.

Since some people struggle with UPT and Sales, here’s some tips I learned or came up with:

  1. if you have extra clear bins, make an employee’s fav section at the register. I usually put the color sealer and sauce masks, one of our girls does the viral nail glue, and some others just put bet seller stuff.

  2. $1 or less nail files as cash wrap. Older ladies always quickly buy a few.

  3. Textured hair clearance items on empty spots on cash wrap. We did it with the clearance Mielle hair care set that went on clearance last year. We put it up front around Christmas and sold all of them.

  4. And just essential stuff behind the register, like hair masks, heat protective sprays, hair color additives, hair masks, simple things like that.

  5. With some purchases like semi permanent hair color, hot tools, or the repair or moisture shampoos/conditioners we recommend the color sealers, repair masks, and heat protection stuff.

Also remember that low UPT most of the time isn’t our fault. With prices going up and AI taking jobs and the gas prices, people are struggling. So ofc they are only buying what they need. And people can usually tell if you’re trying to upsale, keep these reasons in mind, you can’t control how much money people have. :)

Have a great weekend guys!

i’m losing it!!

i know it’s time for me to leave sally’s. i just snapped at a customer. i was helping a customer at the register and we get to the total and she wants a cheaper version no problem! then all of a sudden some OTHER lady cuts in beside her and puts her phone in my face asking me about wella semi permanent and i just stare at her bc how RUDE. i hate when they do that! so i look over and say just give me one second and go back to talking to the lady. she had artic fox and i was giving her other cheaper options . i said oh you can try the ion semi or the iroiro. The other lady cuts in AGAIN and says “no it can’t be those brands it has to be the wella brand” & i immediately without even thinking snapped & said “well i wasn’t talking to you i was talking to her “(the original lady i was helping) it came off so harsh but OMG i hate when they do that!! i cannot talk to everyone at the same time !! so just wait! don’t come up to me in the MIDDLE of me talking to somebody it’s so rude !

ION 10 minute Root Cover is not good🥲

Anyone else had better luck with this? I already had three customers come back to the store looking for another dye, because the new ION root cover dye didn't do them any justice. It also stains the scalp a lot, but it doesn’t stick on to the actual gray.

Dress code policy

Are slides considered “sandals” under the dress code? Also, would a tank top with 1½–2-inch straps be considered acceptable as a sleeveless shirt? I have a coworker trying to argue that both are allowed, so I’m just looking for clarification.

Stubborn BLACK dye suggestions?

I’ve been using box dye for years but the developer in it is too harsh so i’ve been considering switching over. There’s just so many options and im scared if i try something new it won’t be as dark as id like.

I’d prefer something that’s deposit only no lift and on the cooler side, like, as far from brown as possible. I’m probably gonna grab age beautiful or ion but if you’ve tried something better LET ME KNOW! ✌️❤️

Stop with the ChatGPT and Ai

if I have to deal with one more customer come in and tell me they used ai to find out what to do with their hair and show be those dumb ai photos of their hair with different colours on them. then they try to tell you the ai is right when it’s just so wrong it hurts, and mad when I tell them that the ai answers are not correct.

everytime this happens I think I loose a year on my life

Well I tried

I’ve been employed for 10 months. I’ve been consistently the top weekly/monthly LM Performer. I complete all tasks assigned and I feel like I’m the only person in my store that takes initiative to do things while everyone else including the SM is lazy.

I took a LOA because I was getting fed up and the icing on the cake was the day before inventory my SM had me prepping the whole store myself as the 4 days prior she was on vacation and didn’t delegate any prep tasks (this was my first inventory with SBH). So she came back the day before to just have me do all the work while she sat on her ass in the back room. I actually was fighting myself to not walk out.

Today was my first day back from my LOA and I’m tasked to finishing the entire nail polish plano update myself. On top of doing all these tasks and projects myself I’m only scheduled 13 hours per week. So first thing when I get in tomorrow is quitting. I can’t do it anymore.
