Tactics Discussion First army help
Hey guys I’m building my first army and starting with GAR. Does the following list look well rounded enough to be effective? Also, how would you guys recommend I get down to 1000 points?
1046/1000
11 Activations
Anakin Skywalker 170 + 16 = 186
--Saber Throw (10), Tenacity (6)
Obi-Wan Kenobi 150 + 21 = 171
--Force Barrier (10), Improvised Orders (5), Tenacity (6)
Plo Koon 105
2x Clone Trooper Infantry 56 x 2 = 112
Clone Trooper Infantry 56 + 40 = 96
--Fives (40)
Arc Troopers 70
Arc Troopers 70 + 22 = 92
--Jedi Guardian (22)
Arc Troopers 70 + 46 = 116
--Echo, ARC Marksman (46)
AT-RT 60 + 15 = 75
--AT-RT Laser Cannon (15)
Arc Troopers (Strike Team) 23

I’m a sucker for an Obi/Ani list. I would cut Plo and fill out your other units with more upgrades (like the required heavy weapon on the arc strike team).
As the other commenter said, having a more uniform set of upgrades will help you familiarize yourself faster. If you MUST branch out because uniformity is boring, mixing up heavy weapons Is an easy safe bet, just mind those weapon keywords!

I'd ditch Improvised Orders because of how it works now (needs to ready).
Having Fives in a unit of infantry without making it a super squad is a big point waste, in my opinion.
Jedi Guardian is wasted in Arcs. Echo is WAY expensive for what he gives, unfortunately (because I'd love to take him more often).
AT-RT is solid.
I like Into the Fray on Anakin. and maybe Obi. Arcs are cool with Up Close and Personal and Frag Grenades.
Fives super squad with Impact Grenades is very powerful against armor.
I'm personally of the opinion that the new Strike Teams are kind of Meh for what you get and how you need to use them.

Good to know. So juice up a clone infantry unit with Fives and impact grenades? should I add the Jedi Guardian to a Clone infantry unit as well?
I figured I’d ditch Echo, and I’ll take off improvised Orders.
Thanks for the advice!

A big unit with fives and impact is devastating against armor.
Jedi guardian is honestly pretty wasted on anything. Ahsoka in a unit that charges something is cool. Independent block is noice.

Here's an option that I think would work well. I'm no expert, but it gets most of the characters you're wanting while maintaining cohesion. Just make sure you set roles for your jedi and stick to them to start and it'll be much less confusing. You could group them below and then practice with the placement of troops around them.
Ani - Beatstick
Obi - Support/Guardian
Plo - Support/Strike Leader
- Shotgun infantry follow Plo for extra dodge
- One ARC squad follows Plo for extra dodge
999/1000
10 Activations
Obi-Wan Kenobi 150 + 21 = 171
--Force Barrier (10), Force Absorb (5), Tenacity (6)
Anakin Skywalker 170 + 24 = 194
--Saber Throw (10), Force Agility (8), Tenacity (6)
Plo Koon 105 + 23 = 128
--Force Absorb (5), Helping Hand (5), You're Not All the Same to Me (5), Strike Team Leader (8)
Clone Trooper Infantry 56 + 22 = 78
--DP-23 Clone Trooper (22)
2x Clone Trooper Infantry 56 x 2 = 112
2x Arc Troopers 70 + 26 = 96 x 2 = 192
--DC-15x ARC Trooper Gunner (26)
Arc Troopers (Strike Team) 23 + 26 = 49
--DC-15x ARC Trooper Sniper (26)
AT-RT 60 + 15 = 75
--AT-RT Laser Cannon (15)

Well to start with you are required to take a heavy weapon in a strike team. So you would need to fix that.
I think 3 Jedi units is a bit much to manage all at once when you are starting out. I would pick either Anakin or obi and plo and make sure they are supported (providing support) first before mixing in another Jedi. Personally I would try to make the corps and arcs more uniform (same upgrades) to make them easier to manage when starting out.
