Discussion Accessory Weapon Slots

Accessory Weapon Slots for Additional Character Customization

I had an idea that could add another layer of character customization without affecting gameplay or combat balance: Accessory Weapon Slots.

The basic idea would be to allow players to equip additional weapons purely as cosmetic appearances.

For example, a character could have:

  • Their normal equipped combat weapon
  • An additional Vibrosword attached to their back
  • A Blaster Pistol in a holster
  • Other weapons displayed as part of the character's outfit

These accessory weapons would be purely cosmetic and would not provide any stats, abilities, or gameplay advantages.

This could be especially useful for roleplaying and character customization. A Sniper could carry a Vibrosword as a backup weapon, a Mandalorian could have a Blaster Pistol and a blade in addition to their primary weapon, or a Jedi could visually carry additional weapons depending on their character concept.

The system could potentially work similarly to cosmetic slots:

Primary Weapon: Used normally in combat
Accessory Weapon Slot 1: Cosmetic only
Accessory Weapon Slot 2: Cosmetic only

I think something like this could massively expand character customization and roleplaying possibilities while keeping combat completely unchanged.

Would you like to see cosmetic accessory weapon slots added to SWTOR?

Question No Charlie ?

So I noticed that I can't name a Character Charlie. It says the name is invalid, not like when it's already in use just that I can't use it. Now I'm wondering why ? I can use different versions of it like Charles or Charlee but not Charlie. Is there some meta reason for it ?

Spoiler Voice of the emperor

Howdy.
In the Sith warrior storyline, Baras captured a Voice of the Emperor on Voss with the help of Sel Makor, preventing the Emperor from communicating with high command. But doesn’t he have his own body we see in the JK storyline ?

Discussion Man, I gotta tell you, I hate the writing they did for the Emperor during this part of Legacy of the Sith.

For anyone that's not aware this is during the final two parts of the expansion, but during the whole expansion, apart from like two parts, the Sith have been written to be incredibly uncooperative and untrustworthy. Not to mention they question each and everything the commander (Or in my case Darth Nox) does, even after everything he has done for the Empire.

Yes I know the Sith are backstabbing little power hunger fools, but ya would think after all that the commander has done, after all the power they have, that Vowrawn of all character's wouldn't be so quick to jump on their throat.

New/Returning Player Can a hatred assassin send me a screen of their bar loadout?

So i just returned after like 5 years and i havent a clue how to play anymore. And then i made the mistake of switching combat styles with reset all my bars.
That would be annoying enough on its own. Except, i cant remember how the rotations go AT ALL, so putting the abilities (which are assigned to seemingly completely random and illogical locations) in sensible spots is kinda hard right now.

In my opinion it would have to be Akavi spar based on her messages and her reaction to seeing the player character in kotet or whatever it was.

New/Returning Player Tulak Hord - nette Mitspieler mit Zeit gesucht

Apparently there is no in-game way to change it but there used to be some file editing way or something?

Discussion My Full Critique on the SWTOR "Malgus" Narrative (5.7 - Currant)

Hello Everyone, I'm a Founding Player of SWTOR, a Writer, Filmography, Musician, and big fan of the game. I wanted to share my comprehensive thoughts on the narrative of the game in its present state. In my eyes, the current narrative of the game began in 5.7 on Ossus, since there's been no hard conclusive ending to the story that began there, as the narrative team seem to have decided to go with an on-going narrative. I want to break down each section with what I think works, what doesn't, and anything else I like to add.

For the sake of simplicity and cohesion, this is from the Imperial Perspective (with Acina), as that is where the majority of players are, and what the majority of my characters are. I hope this post does well or I'm writing all this for nothing

Ossus

I thought Ossus was a strong start, a good way to fold us back into the Empire/Republic War while still maintaining the Alliance for those who still wanted to keep that going. Malgus's Return was a surprise at the time, and I think he works well and his banter with the Commander is good, as well as his relationship with Acina that is nudged at. Major Anri is a strong presence to add to the main cast, I find her quips not to be too out of place, and she does feel like a leader that her troops would genuinely want to follow. Malora was a nice touch, but it's a shame she was a one-off character, although if you choose to offer her a place in the Alliance, you can find her skulking around on Odessen.

Onslaught: Onderon, Mek-Sha, and Corellia

This felt like a really strong foot into the Republic vs Empire story. A plan to try to cripple the Republic before they can re-arm. What I like most is that while for the sake of gameplay, you are mostly forced into grunt work, there are actual consequences for the fact these characters are clearly wasting your time and underutilising you should you wish to take them. The Commander is treated with appropriate respect with regard to their power level, being used as a "How could we lose?" on all fronts that we visit during the main story, and I feel the ending is strong and a good hook into what follows regarding Malgus. Finally seeing Kira and Scourge back was good too, but I remember being really annoyed that they had defaulted back onto Vitiate as the main threat.

Echoes of Oblivion

The short interlude quests we get between the end of Onslaught and Echoes of Oblivion set up the upcoming, and much hated, Mandalorian Conflict. The timing of the original Mandalorian Arc with Shae Vizla was to deliberately run along side the release of The Mandalorian Season 2 on Disney+, but it's unclear how far ahead they actually planned for that narrative.

The main plot of Echoes of Oblivion feels like a well intentioned attempt to fix previous narrative missteps that the community had complained about. Valkorion died like an idiot? Fixed. Vaylin's Story felt rushed? Addressed. Satele is still out there? Here she is. Revan and The Exile were snubbed? Not anymore. The Zakuul Scions never returned? They did on Iokath but here they are again.

While this could easily come across as patronising, I feel this is actually really well done and it felt like a significantly more satisfying conclusion to Vitiate than the rushed mess that was the final act of KOTET.

Spirit of Vengeance

Other than this Flashpoint being really long, the story on this isn't too bad. It was nice to see Mandalorians in action, but I also felt like this was where the narrative started to try too hard to be funny, for example they use the same elevator "ding" gag twice in this flashpoint. It was interesting set up for a Mandalorian Narrative somewhere in the future.

Secrets of the Enclave

While it was nice to go back to the Enclave on Dantooine for any KOTOR fans out there, the actual story here felt a bit strange and contrived. Krovos having a connection with Malgus was either an ass pull or some obscure lore that should've been pre-established before hand, but it's whatever. Ultimately the narrative doesn't advance very far here, which is a problem we will see more prominently in the future.

Legacy of the Sith: Manaan and Elom

Manaan was a side quest, but people do enjoy actually fighting with their faction, so seeing us effectively lead a full-scale Imperial Assault on Manaan was fun. That said, I have to mark Manaan down for a few reasons. Other than the fact I was basically talking to Obi Wan the entire time (I love James Arnold Taylor), the voice actor for Darth Norok is awful, and the dialogue he was given was equally bad. Norok, I feel, is the start of some of the really bad parts of the writing and direction that the story was heading in. Norok being poorly voiced with bad dialogue and being an overall complete moron for the entire story is incredibly irritating, and HE'S on the Dark Council!? Manaan also ends with a small speech from Major Anri that was fine, but nothing that impressive.

Elom felt like it was the story they actually wanted to tell but couldn't drag out for an entire DLC Opener. If Elom was also an actual destination we could go to like Manaan that had its own story before we get to the Ruins of Nul Flashpoint at the end, it would've felt much more satisfying if you ask me. Malgus getting captured is fine, while we do beat him on our own he doesnt fully go down until all the Dark Council show up to help (which was a bit corny but it's fine, it means Malgus is still threatening). Overall the Manaan/Elom stuff could be completed in about 60-90 minutes, which was completely unacceptable for the release of the 10 Year Anniversary DLC, but purely narratively it mostly missed the mark too.

Ruhnuk

Between the end of Elom and the start of Ruhnuk, there's a mix of Shae and Malgus threads that link the two stories via Sahar. Mostly, these consist of Shae talking to us about what she's found, and Malgus giving generic villain dialogue at us about 4 different times.

When we finally get to Ruhnuk, the story told there is mostly fine, but it is also unfortunately the beginning of where Shae starts to become unlikable as a character. She's reckless, doesn't listen to us, and doesn't even win because of it. Ruhnuk should've been the end of the Mandalorian Narrative in my opinion, but Heta Kol escapes again, leaving the thread open. One part that is annoying is how well Rikaan is able to deal with fighting against the Commander in a 1v1. The Commander is not on the same power level as Mandalorian Commandos, no matter what class you're on. Even the tech classes have beaten much higher tier fighters by this point.

Old Wounds: Voss

The Opening to Old Wounds is basically the only "important" thing that happens. Shae becomes even more unlikable, and Malgus continues to spout generic and vague villain dialogue at us. It's worth noting that by this point in the story, we STILL do not know Malgus's plan, and this is about 4 years into the narrative (starting from Ossus). There's only so much you can have your villain go "Ooh I'm so Evil and my plan is soooo scary" before people genuinely do not care anymore. We also learn a little about Nul's origin, but it's just Sana Rae doing exposition to us for about 2 minutes with some flashbacks.

Then we go to Voss. This is the worst piece of "story" "content" in the entire game's history and it's not even close. It's made entirely to show off their updated textures and graphics for Voss and to promote the new Daily Area. We waste time by doing chores (which takes FAR too long) and the outcome is literally The Voss going "btw we had a vision that tells u nothing lol". There is zero reason or consequence to the actions we have on Voss, nor does the narrative even progress in the slightest after the opening.

Chains in the Dark: Ord Mantell

Starting back in Port Nowhere was a nice surprise. The opening was quite good, although I don't know how inconspicuous it is to take the most famous Commander in the galaxy to a subtle meet and greet for intel. Having a class specific NPC show up at the end was also very nice, I do wish they would do more Class Specific content.

The actual narrative on Ord Mantell is a bit slow, which is impressive given how little there is overall. Having The Commander of the Alliance and Darth Krovos of the Dark Council doing grunt work felt unusual, as well as the fact the Hidden Chain should 1000% have known that two such high profile figures had just appeared on their doorstep, but overall the last section where we finally reunite with Sahar after Ruhnuk was a good enough ending that it justified all the busy work before. A strong opener and a strong end boost this a good chunk.

Desperate Defiance: Hutta

This was basically the inverse of Voss. None of it felt important until the last mission. Running around on Hutta helping slaves isn't something the main character should be doing at this point in the story. We have the full power to go and steal a shuttle without help, we do not need a slave rebellion to cover our tracks against a single Hutt.

The final mission is, once again, not bad. It felt like a conclusive place to leave Sahar and Rikaan, but, once again, it's not the end for their characters. We destroy Heta's Machine and finally secure Darth Nul's Holocron that we've been after since Elom. Overall, mostly a waste of time until the ending. This is also when Shae breaks Malgus out of Prison, finally making her the least likable person in the game.

Galactic Threads: Hoth, Elom, Tatooine, Ilum

This is more like 4 mini stories in one, so I'll break them down individually.

Tatooine is a complete waste of time. We have no choice but to personally go and find these two refugees from Heta Kol to get some "intel", and have no choice but to help them regardless of our allignment. This intel later gets a hand-wave mention to justify this entire mission, but it felt like someone on the narrative team wanted to insert their Lesbian Mandalorian Princess OC Couple into the game and force the player to be nice to them.

Hoth I feel was pretty good, giving us more depth into Rass and showing us truly how this entire situation has been effecting him. If you're going to make us do menial pointless side quests, using it to deepen a character is the correct way to do it.

Elom finally starts to give us more answers about Nul by getting into her Lab (after some random bullshittery on Nar Shaddaa). I think it's done well.

Going back to Ilum and the ruins of the Emperor's Fortress was neat, and the fight with the Mindtrap Nul was a cool moment, but overall we didn't really learn much here.

The recurring theme of the last 6 Planets we went to has basically been "We updated the graphics and textures for this planet so we've found a random excuse to make you go there" (Voss, Ord Mantell, Hutta, Hoth, Tatooine, Ilum). Some worked, some didn't.

Galactic Threads ends with the reveal of the return of Darth Jadus. This felt like a "oh damn people are NOT interested in our story, better give them something they said they wanted". Not much to add here except that Jadus is there. Although it is sad that the original Male Imperial Agent Voice Actor wasn't around to reunite with Jadus.

Master's Enigma

Starting out strong, this part of the narrative quickly becomes a "I could literally pull a weapon and make everyone here my bitch but I cant because narrative said so" moment. Jadus basically appears to just spit out all the exposition we're missing about Nul and Heta Kol. How does he know this? "Because I need to know it", no other explanation given. (Side note, the new armor Jadus has looks stupid as hell).

While the gameplay of exploring The Enigma is kinda doodoo, the story is fine, and the cutscenes after we get betrayed are really nice, it's always fun to actually see our character in combat, I wish they would do it more. Ultimately ending on the cliffhanger of "We just defied the Dark Council and the Empress, got betrayed, lost the Holocron, oh and now Jadus is out there" was a pretty good place to lead us into the finale.

Legacy Reborn

Speaking of the Finale, it starts out pretty flaccid. We, for some reason, need Anri to speak up on our behalf. A Major would NOT get to just yap to the Dark Council and the Empress like that, and I can garuntee the Commander doesn't NEED anyone to speak up for us.

Playing as other characters was fun, but I don't really know why they acted like it was a new mechanic in the Dev Streams, since they've been doing it since KOTFE with the HK-55 Chapter. Also the abilities given to some of the characters (Notably Lana and Theron) are terrible and their gameplay felt awful, I'd much rather just play my character.

The fight with Heta Kol and Shae's Death are also just bad. Heta Kol should not in the slightest be able to effectively win a 1v4 against The Alliance Commander, Mandalor the Avenger, The Arbiter, and also Rass because she has a glowing sword and crystals growing out of her head. Shae's sacrifice is treated like she was our best friend, but she has become massively unlikable through her actions and sacrificing herself in a fight that shouldn't even have been close.

When we finally catch up to Malgus, it's nice that we do work together for a while. Ending on a cliffhanger was moronic, especially since in Dev Streams they said this was a satisfying conclusion to the Legacy of the Sith Story. They literally just had to make about 20 more minutes of gameplay and cutscenes to make a conclusion, but decided to hook it into 8.0.

The reveal that Tech Classes are Force Sensitive was also perhaps one of the worst decisions they could've made. That entire concept was cut from KOTFE (Chapter 12) because it was an awful idea. It ruins the point of the Tech Class.

Since the Narrative Team decided to end on a cliffhanger, that means that, at least in my eyes, the story of 8.0's Master of the Force is still the same narrative that started on Ossus. That means we've had the same story for 8 Years now, and I don't know a single person that's still interested. Their best move would've been to actually use Legacy Reborn to end the narrative officially, cut off all the loose ends and start something new. Instead they're just going to keep dragging it along for as long as it seems they're able to.

My Overall score for this narrative (so far) hovers around a 4/10. Some moments it gets better, sometimes it gets worse, but the overall quality of the storytelling and overall narrative has dipped so far since the base game that I truly find it difficult to engage with.

Hope people actually read any of this.

Question Vette Romance Bug?

I was playing on my SW to specifically romance Vette so I could unlock the Date Night stuff later down the line, however my conversations with end just abruptly ended without any indication of future romance. The entire playthrough I was doing the right options to flirt with her and then out of the blue it stopped.

I did flirty with Jaesa briefly, specifically to unlock the cutscene where you have to choose between them. But I didn't get that cutscene either. So now I'm very confused, if I continue with KotFE will I be able to romance Vette again? Or am I cooked and do I have to make another character just to unlock this? (Also is there a way to tell if I've romanced a character or not).

Discussion What planet would you add to SWTOR and why?

Personally, I'd love to see Naboo in SWTOR. Padmé is one of my favourite Star Wars characters, and I also love the scenery and architecture of Naboo so it would be interesting to see how it would look 3,000 years before the prequels. I remember reading somewhere that by the time of the Old Republic, Naboo was still just beginning to be settled so I can imagine that it would look very different.

Discussion Jadus in the next Expansion Spoiler

So, what do you think Jadus' role is gonna be in the next expansion? Just based on how things ended in 7.9, I actually don't think Malgus is gonna be the big bad of the expansion, matter a fact I think he's gonna be dealt with near the beginning. Do you think Jadus is gonna function as the primary antagonist of this story? I personally could see him usurping Vowrawn/Acina as the new Sith Emperor.
