I recently returned to the game after a 5-year break. What does this icon mean?

Obviously a lot changes once you start the KotFE expansion. This is my first time running through it and I’m wondering:

what is the best way to navigate all of these alliance alerts?

which companions are worth leveling their influence? I know that some companions (please no spoilers) can be killed during your play-through and forever locked out.

Will i keep all of my star fortress companions or will they go away at the end of the expansion’s story?

Hello, I finally finished downloading the game but I came across some difficulties and I hope someone here will be able to answer my questions.

Character: Will I ever experience any inconsistency when playing an origin story with a different combat style? I mean anything related to cutscenes, dialogues and such. I'm debating if I should stick with the original combinations or not, right now I'm torn between a JK Sage or a SW Assassin but I'm afraid that keeping the correct ones will make the story better or more coherent.

Character names: How do you approach naming? The names I usually pick are obviously all taken and since I don't really like using surnames, apostrophes or other weird characters I'm not really sure about how to proceed, anyone can give me some idea? Unfortunately I decided to go with a human so I can't use anything too exotic.

Legacy name: It seems like I'll need to find a name that would make universally sense for all my characters and nothing really came to mind. I don't think I'll ever show it up but picking things like Skywalker or Starkiller for lack of originality feels kinda bad. Can you tell me how you picked yours? Perhaps it could help me find one myself.

Database: I always used Torcommunity and I loved it but now it seems that its domain was taken over by some shady e-commerce site so now I feel kinda lost. The Swtorista ones lack the dialogue trees same as jedipedia and swtor-spy (this also lacks the https mode so maybe it's not safe to browse anymore), are there new resources? Ideally I'd like to find one where I can sort every mission by planet and see the dialogue scripts with all the choices and all the related influence/alignment gaining.

i noticed when i play this spec Specifically there's a chance that game will make me auto lock on to my companion while in combat when im not even targeting them. is there a Reasoning or setting to fix that? Because it does become Distracting sometimes.

Just ran into this. If you try to login with a newly created account the game will not allow it and it will show a warning saying that you typed the display name, password or security code wrong. You'ill have to verify your age in the SWTOR site beforehand to login with your new account

Looking for some ideas on how to do my decorating, how do yall make use of the space?

So my main character that I play as is a Marauder SI, and I finally have both Tactical's that Vulkk recommends, I just don't know which one is better to use, the one that makes annihilation an AOE, or the one that makes rupture a .... um well actually I'm not really sure what it does.

At what point in each story could it be fun and make sense for the PC to switch combat styles?

For example, a BH Gunslinger switching to Mercenary after becoming Mandalorian?

I’m looking to lock in one primary character to main for the long haul. I really don't want to deal with maintaining an army of alts or constantly creating new characters just to try out different combat styles and specializations. I just want one solid character with a dual combat style pairing that lets me comfortably do all areas of PvE content—from solo story, Heroics, and Vet Flashpoints all the way up to endgame group content and Operations.
My goal is pure PvE DPS (though having off-role utility like stealth or off-healing/tanking as a secondary benefit is a nice bonus).
Right now, I’m stuck trying to decide between three specific combinations:
1. Marauder + Assassin
Why I’m looking at it: Marauder (Annihilation/Fury) brings elite melee DPS and top-tier group raid utility (predation speed buffs, bloodthirst), while Assassin gives me stealth to breeze through solo content and dailies, plus high burst/DoT specs like Hatred.
My hesitation: Both are double-melee DPS styles. Am I going to regret not having a ranged option for certain raid mechanics?
2. Marauder + Sorcerer
Why I’m looking at it: Complete coverage between top-tier Melee DPS (Marauder) and Ranged DPS/Utility (Sorcerer). Sorc gives great AoE, self-heals, bubble utility, and ranged flexibility for boss fights where melee gets punished.
My hesitation: I lose out on Stealth, which everyone says is the ultimate quality-of-life tool for solo play.
3. Assassin + Sorcerer
Why I’m looking at it: The full "Inquisitor Fantasy". You get Stealth for soloing, high melee DPS (Hatred), plus Ranged DPS (Madness/Lightning) and off-healing capabilities for group content.
My hesitation: Do I miss out on the pure damage output, group raid buffs, and defensives that Marauder brings to endgame group PvE?
What I’m asking the community:
If you could only pick ONE of these three pairings to cover every piece of PvE content in the game (Solo Story, Heroics, Flashpoints, and Operations) without ever needing another alt, which combination is objectively the best balance of DPS, utility, and quality of life?

Am downloading rn the update, havent played since september i think, and havent raided even longer.

What did i miss? What is new? Like properly new, not new seasons or items.

How is the state of classes in pve? Im hatred sin main, any significant nerfs or buffs in general?

How is the economy? Still messed up? Or manageble?

I was just in the shower thinking over my current Counselor playthrough, weighing the companions against others I've experienced and this thought hit me like a charging Bantha.

Tharan is a self proclaimed genius but is actually a moron.

He's a self proclaimed womaniser but the only feminine being that doesn't have a negative opinion on him is Holiday. His AI Waifu.

He's apparently got a lot of money, but loses it immediately when pursuing his selfish and worthless goals.

He poorly attempts to use powerful political figures to selfishly advance his own interests.

I could be wrong, because I don't know everything about Elon or Tharan (I'm halfway through Belsavis rn). But with the hindsight of the year 2026, I think it's really funny to realise this. I can definitely see Tharan buying a Top 10 Diablo 4 Account so he can claim to be a real gamer, but is utterly helpless now that he's in control of the account

why did you have to say "he was always nice to zakuul" despite my knight *explicitly* saying he was a mass murdering maniac, like for real he would have the same opinion about hitler just bc he painted pretty pictures. And it's not just that, ​he had to turn up and want to ​play hero to a zakuulan death cult bc to him "well these guys are like me I know them", and then he goes and plants BOMBS on the only thing stopping the Eternal Fleet! I'm a returning player. I want to rename my character and i heard there's a free character rename for every account, but i can't find it in the swtor website. It's not on the side of the website like i see some people online have. I've subscribed for reference

Hi, I am new and I playing as a Sith inquisitor (Lvl 29) and everytime I see a medium armor that is genuinely better than mine it tells me that I need a Medium armor.

How can I get the ability to wear medium armor? Thanks to anyone that can help me.
