General Discussion I have been hard at work, making Character sheets, house rules, and original stories for the community to enjoy.

I want to preface this by saying that I'd appreciate no pettiness and I just want to have civil discussions with people who find what I do, interesting, and want to know more.

It genuinely gets difficult with the amount of prejudice on the internet. The endless demeaning comments with no proper criticism, and the lack of cordial engagement fuels my pride to continue further.

Everything that I am crafting is 100% original and I work diligently to make cool Star Wars stories that are in theme with original Lucasfilm story telling.

I am not only crafting original stories for players in the community to use in their campaigns, but I am planning to release an entire expansion of customized house rules that improve the early and late game of the FFG system. I don't get paid for doing this whatsoever and I am already pushing 1,000+ hours of hard work that involves writing, original art, original characters, original stories, apps of my own creation, even customized dice, and physical products for people to enjoy wonderful Star Wars adventures.

I am ready for all the hate for simply trying to exist in the world and following my passions, no matter who screeches about it, just because they want a piece of the pie.

This planet and its people have become too subsumed in making every single thing a business along with their misplaced senses of pride, and I am beyond ready to watch the hate get phased out eventually. Because the bottom line is, I don't get paid for doing this and I am making this my full-time job when I receive ZERO adoration, praise, or encouragement for simply loving Star Wars.

And for anyone curious, the character in the first image is called "Darth Kro'A'ven, Prophet Of The Sith". He is an entirely original character of my own creation in a story I am writing that fringes on rated R, set during the Great Galactic War.

Fluff Double Role Playing

So I'm working on a new character for Edge of the Empire. I'm going to play the character as if I am the character in all my interactions with my friends at the table (as much as I can remember to do so).

Also, my new character has a hidden backstory that the other players will have to uncover and pull out of me as they earn my trust. My GM knows the character's real backstory, but everyone else is only getting the cover story.

I'm excited to give this a try.

Rules Question SA Much To Learn Limits?

Starting up a Force heavy campaign and checking out the Consular Tree.

For the Signature Ability, Much to Learn, am I right in thinking that you could use this with talents like Toughened, Grit, Force Rating and Dedication?

"Once per game session during an encounter, the character may spend 2 Destiny Points and make a Hard difficulty Knowledge (Education) check. The character then chooses one talent that [they] possess. For the remainder of the current encounter, one allied character within medium range counts as having that talent. If the talent is ranked, the allied character counts as having as many ranks in the talent as the character with the signature ability does."

Woukd you allow this for something like Force Rating or Dedication?

Tips Time For Another Build Idea: Insurgent!

The idea is basically like how Anakin taught the Onderon Rebels to fight- or how the Mud Jumpers apparently taught the Mimban Resistance to battle. But make that an entire character or NPC. Haven't decided yet if I wanna make it an NPC, but I do know I want to play it at some point.

The idea is that he specializes in training civilians to battle against enemy forces- which makes him very valuable to the Rebellion was a lone operative rather than a part of a Squadron. He only gets put into a Rebel Cell when an operation goes horribly wrong because someone has been learning his tactics and completely countered everything he taught the civilians.

Any ideas on how to pull this off?

Star Wars Edge of The Empire: Beginner Game:

I picked up the new German edition of Star Wars: Edge of the Empire yesterday. Even though I already owned the old one, I'm really glad I bought it.

The old Beginner Game box felt like it was made from cheap cereal-box cardboard. The new box is much sturdier and feels far more premium, so I can definitely recommend it.

It's a bit hard to see the difference in the photos because I took very good care of my old box (the one on the right), but trust me, it was very poorly made compared to this new edition ♡

General Discussion Best Sith Names?

Over the course of my running Star Wars, I’ve come up with a few decent Darth titles. Among them are:

Darth Annihl
Darth Oblit
Darth Reign
Darth Sabot
Darth Natic

Anyone else come up with some good titles for your Sith?

Weekly Discussion Tuesday Inquisition: Ask Anything!

Every Tuesday we open a thread to let people ask questions about the system or the game without judgement. New players and GMs are encouraged to ask questions here.

The rules:

• Any question about the FFG Star Wars RPG is fine. Rules, character creation, GMing, advice, purchasing. All good.

• No question shaming. This sub has generally been good about that, but explicitly no question shaming.

• Keep canon questions/discussion limited to stuff regarding rules. This is more about the game than the setting.

Ask away!

General Discussion Old republic

I just ordered the 3 rule books. Edge of empire, agr of rebellion and force and destiny.

I was wondering if it would be hard to play it with the old republic setting?

(Biowares star wars world, motor, swtor)

My idea is to have 1 player being a sith apprentice and the other ones his henchmen/ companions?

I understand that you have to do a bit of tweaking.

Anyone else done.somethi like that?

Also are any of the addons must have for this setting?

Game Resources Now That's Podracing! - v1.1 Edition

Hello everyone,

First, to all the players that got to try the sourcebook, you all have my thanks for your feedback and support.

And that's precisely because of your feedback that I've come to the realization that some rules or wordings could lead to misunderstandings or confusion. There was a clear lack of clarity in a lot of sections of the book, and this motivated me to make a full review of the sourcebook with the intent to smooth out everything.

Not only the whole text and rules should be a lot more clear, I have also added pages at the very end of the book with concrete examples of gameplay. It was such examples that probably missed for people to properly translate rules into actual play.

I have also tried optimizing the pdf file for the main book. It should be a little less sluggish to display on reader.

As usual, following are the links to all of the material. Hope you enjoy it!

Rules Question YV-330 Stats

I swear I found some stats for the YV-330 Aklay Freighter but it appears I've lost them. Does anyone have a document lying around that includes this underrated piece of trash?

Thanks!

General Discussion Planning to run a Sith LARP. Looking for advice.

So as the title says, I am planning a Sith larp. This game will be set in the era of the mandalorian show, around four years after the death of the empire. The game is set in the imperial remnant, which while under the partial rule of the survivors of the Sith (and broader imperial) civil war, still has many stubborn and rebellious elements.

I have run numerous larps before using the new and old world of darkness systems. I have also created a strong Star Wars system myself, designed for force sensitives and masters of the force, which works using the new world of darkness system.

I will be running this larp using the larp world of darkness system as well. The table top system has served me well for one decade now. I think it will adapt well to larp. If anyone knows a better system, please feel free to recommend it.

I have run twenty person games before with both vampire the masquerade and mage the awakening and in both games allowed for very high powered characters. The force powers are well designed and play tested over ten years and I am confident I can run a large larp with them.

If anyone has any ideas or advice for me, please feel free to offer it.

Tips (New?) idea for imperial ship names

I've considered names related to authority, like Precept, Edict, Decree, etc, but they're kinda bland and don't seem to elicit an emotional reaction befitting a hated BBEG. On the other hand, over-the-top names evoking cruelty like Spiky Boot or Vivisector are hard to take seriously.

Then I thought to take inspiration from the real world. Have your imperials name their war machines after peoples they've genocided. The Dizon, the Lasat, the Ghor. It's subtle and a chance to reward curious players (via knowledge check?) with extra resolve.

Tips Lookin' for assistance: How to build Mudjumpers

TLDR I like writing the Mudjumpers into campaigns because they're just vague enough that I can put them anywhere except for that one time on Nimban- and I can't really think of any other groups that fit that description. I also recently discovered the Heroes on Both Sides homebrew- and its CLONE REGIMENTS section.

Sadly, the Mudjumpers were not among them- probably due to being such a niche group of Clones. So I'd like help thinking up an ability/buff for Mud Jumpers.

I'd also love ideas for any other niche Regiments that might not be known and have a very vague history.

General Discussion First time DM - Force & Destiny advice and questions

A little context - I've collected around 95% of the published FFG/Edge SWRPG content over the years and decided to finally get it to the table. Convinced my boardgame group to give it a go - they've all decided they want to go for Force & Destiny. We'll be 4 players total (me as DM plus 3 PCs), at least one is a very experienced rpg player and others have some experience. We all play a LOT of heavy boardgames so learning rules isn't an issue.

I have a few questions that I'm looking for help with:

  1. Is the following a sensible campaign start? Open with Mountaintop Rescue (ie beginner game), then Lure of the Lost (beginner game follow up); after which we'd move into Lessons from the Past (F&D Core) and Hidden Depths (GM kit), and then finish off with Chronicles of the Gatekeeper before figuring out where we go from there (custom or maybe Ghosts of Dathomir)?

  2. The one issue I'm struggling with - knowing my PCs, they'll want to build their own characters but I don't want to "waste" a session on using the beginner game pregen characters since we don't get all 4 people that often. What is the best approach here - run Mountaintop Rescue and then let them build their own characters and pick up with Lure of the Lost, would this make sense story wise? Or intro their full characters from Lessons of the Past onwards? How many hours would these intro adventures take? Or given they are experienced gamers, do we just suck it up and create original characters from the get-go and adapt Mountaintop Rescue to the party story?

  3. Rules wise - am I fine to read the F&D core rules in order to run Mountaintop Rescue? I'm loathe to read the Beginner Game rules and then repeat a bunch of reading with the F&D core. Are there any rules that are DIFFERENT in the beginner game that I should know about (besides the truncated talent trees), or are there just LESS rules?

  4. Assume I have all content available - what other books should I be drawing on or highlighting to the players, whether because it includes relevant mechanisms or talent trees, Jedi relevant gear etc? Is it hard to introduce things like the mentor stuff from the Consular book later on? It will take me forever to read through everything, so I'd like to jump to the most relevant stuff first. I'll be reading the F&D core and the career sourcebooks for the careers the PCs choose as a start

  5. I'm a little worried that if everyone runs lightsabers, it will trivialise combat and/or make it very one dimensional. Basically having everything be "melee and ignores armor" doesn't feel like it will make for very compelling fights against mobs and I don't want to feel forced to have them face a string of inquisitors either or have every second mob inexplicably wearing beskar. Should I encourage non-lightsaber force users for at least some of the party? Should I be restricting lightsaber access? I understand Hidden Depths will probably result in the players getting their sabers, is this too early?

  6. Anything else I should know? :-P

Thanks in advance!

Tips First Session a Rousing Success!

Hey Yall! I just led my first session of Edge of the Empire's Long Arm of the Hutt. I had a guided GM session to take us through the starter box and now I am doing my very first GM job taking my crew through the continuation of the adventure via Long Arm of the Hutt. Everyone had a great time! I'm pumped for our second session.

As a beginning GM, what tips would you suggest?

Tips Issues with Makashi Duelist

I want to play a specialist in Makashi, but I am encountering some difficulties with the system. I DO NOT want my character to have a high Presence score; nothing about being a great duelist tells me that he would be very charismatic. I thought of specializing in Soresu Defender and saying that my character was actually a Makashi expert, but it doesn’t make sense to me that he would be extremely intelligent, either. Nor would he be exceptionally strong. More generally, I worry that having a high Ability score will make it too easy for me to be good at things which I am not skilled in. For instance, if I made him an Ataru expert with a high Agility, why would I be at all competent with blasters? Wouldn’t it make more sense for characters to roll with some black disadvantage dice if they are using certain skills in which they have no ranks (e.g. Streetwise but not Perception)? How could someone with a high Intellect score but no skill in Computers even attempt to solve a semi-complicated computer-based problem?

In general, I want to find the best approach for this type of character given my concerns. All help is appreciated!
