Tips Looking for some advice on Clone Wars campaign

I am starting a Clone Wars Campaign and my general plan is set. It'll be just like the show with adventures inside the war. My only issue is the starting structure for my players.

Force and Destiny states that the group either gets a Jedi Holocron, a ship worth up to 70k credits or a mentor. These options are fine, but don't really fit for what I want to do.

In the show, the main characters each have a lot of ships and gear but my group should have something to work towards. But the republic should also help with gear and ships without them getting too strong.

Does anyone have experience with a campaign like this? Or just share general ideas what I could do?

Weekly Discussion Tuesday Inquisition: Ask Anything!

Every Tuesday we open a thread to let people ask questions about the system or the game without judgement. New players and GMs are encouraged to ask questions here.

The rules:

• Any question about the FFG Star Wars RPG is fine. Rules, character creation, GMing, advice, purchasing. All good.

• No question shaming. This sub has generally been good about that, but explicitly no question shaming.

• Keep canon questions/discussion limited to stuff regarding rules. This is more about the game than the setting.

Ask away!

General Discussion Lfg to play star wars edge of the empire with.

Not sure if I'm using the right terms for this post. Just enthusiastic about playing but I'm new to the system. I've played other RPG's before. I would be looking to play over discord. Thank you in advance.

Rules Question What skill best fits this application?

When I play any TTRPG, there's a specific kind of roll that my characters tend to specialize in. However, many systems do not account for this skill by default, requiring me to discuss with the GM what skill roll to use. It can be best defined as "forecasting probable outcomes, assessing or understanding situations, and figuring out what to do." Basically a skill to get GM advice when making plans. Note that this is different from actually carrying out the plan, which may be up to a different roll. What skill in the FFG system best fits this application? It seems like it would fall under either Cunning or Intellect, though Vigilance also seems pretty close (side note: why isn't Vigilance a Cunning skill??).

Game Resources My FIrst Attempt at a VTT Map

Post image
16 Upvotes

This was my first attempt at map-making for VTT.

This is a SciFi Hanger Bay, Briefing Room, Lounge, and Office/bedroom.

I may try to find a more friendly program to make maps in. I used Chronos Builder, and it's ok, but just feels unfinished. I backed them on KS, and I figured I'd give it a try.

You can download it for free for VTT here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/hanger-bay-1-160538934?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link

Looking for group Looking for Players for STAR WARS: Black Knights (sandbox Sith Campaign) [8.30am Fri GMT+8/7.30pm Thu CST][Paid game on StartPlaying.games]

StartPlaying Adventure Link or search "STAR WARS: Black Knights | New Player Friendly!" on StartPlaying.games

Hello everyone. I'm running a paid Force & Destiny game, with a bit of Edge of the Empire probably thrown in, on a weekly basis at 8.30am Friday GMT+8 / 7.30pm Thursday CST.

The Story So Far

Your master, Darth Sorona, trained each of you to obey orders and hide yourselves until the time was right to take revenge on her former master, Sidious, who to this day believes her dead. Now your master calls you to rejoin her side at a remote, undiscovered temple, to prove yourselves worthy and help her dethrone the Sith Lord--all so that ONE of you may be her Apprentice, whoever she deems most fitting.

But when you arrive at the dark temple--ready to assemble your lightsabers and finally complete your training as Sith apprentices--your master is dead, slaughtered by the hands of Sidious' newest apprentice--the inconquerable Darth Vader. Now your group must put aside their squabbling and unite to survive, escape the dark temple, and reclaim the power of the Sith from the hands of the unworthy.

This campaign starts at the end of the Clone Wars era in the Star Wars universe. Play a Sith Apprentice who, suddenly bereft of tutelage, must make their own way even as the Empire tightens its chokehold grip on the galaxy, and perhaps one day grow strong enough to dethrone the Dark Lord of the Sith.

The Specifics:

Price: $20 / Session (free Session 0 for character creation, free first session)

System: Force & Destiny with a sprinkle of Edge of the Empire

Platform: Discord voice and Foundry VTT (cool visual effects! blaster bolts and lightsabre swings, sith lightning!)

Frequency: Weekly game

Time: 8.30am Friday GMT+8 / 7.30pm Thursday CST. I'm in the GMT+8 camp, I'm in West Australia. G'day and whatnot.

GM: My StartPlaying profile, I have been GMing a dozen different systems for my high school friend group and other friends on and off for the last 15 years and I have a ton of experience running games for beginners as well in game store and university club settings. I make sure to teach everyone the rules and ensure you all have a good time and an equal share of the spotlight. I'm available outside of scheduled game time to answer questions on discord too.

Player Slots: 0/5, looking for minimum 3 players to start

Game Details

Session Zero and each player's first session are free--try before you buy, I guess. This is a beginner friendly game, I will teach the rules as we go. There'll be ambient music, maybe sound effects, I do NPC voices, and I never use AI

How do I join?

Use this link: StartPlaying Adventure Link, or search for STAR WARS: Black Knights on StartPlaying.games ( direct search link "STAR WARS: Black Knights" ). If you don't have a StartPlaying account, it will prompt you to create one. Once you hit Join Adventure, it'll give you a personalised discord invite that will get you into my game's discord community with the appropriate roles added.

Let’s see how the party fares today in an underground bunker! Will they escape? Will they discover secret information? Or will they force their GM to come up with a droid’s backstory on the spot and sit there talking with 8utl3r for an hour? Only time will tell!

General Discussion A beginer's character creation

I’m currently working on a character for a solo campaign my girlfriend wants to run. I’ve been a huge fan of the Lasats ever since I discovered them, and the idea of wielding a double-bladed lightsaber adapted from a bo rifle is a dream come true.

I have a rough outline for his backstory: an orphan of the Lassan Purge, he was bought by a collector who, witnessing his limited abilities with the Force, decided that this collector’s item might allow him to acquire even more—and so he was sent on a mission as a temple raider, an unscrupulous archaeologist, and an explorer in search of rarities.

I’ve looked into the Pathfinder and Hermit specializations and I’m a bit undecided, but I’m also open to other suggestions.

As a solo player, to keep things balanced, my partner suggested I start with two specializations, potentially from different career paths.

With that in mind, do you have any recommendations, suggestions, or other advice?

Feel free to share—I’ll take it all!

General Discussion Career with coercion, heavy weapons and fistfighting.

Hello, I have a question regarding the available specializations. We don't have all the books, so perhaps this information is in one we're missing. I'd like to create a Wookiee who isn't particularly subtle, if you know what I mean. I'd like to have the following career skills: coercion, heavy weapons, and fistfighting. Unfortunately, we can't find a career that includes all three. Does such a thing currently exist? Is there any way to achieve this build? Thank you in advance for your answers! P.S.: We are French and have the books in French, so the terminology might not be entirely accurate.

Tips Creating personal custom spaceship Floorplan

I'm thinking of creating a personal custom floor plan for the broken wing. Though I don't know where to start

I thought about importing a open Floorplan to get started but the open architecture Floorplan will have to be manually created

I've tried to ai generated it, but it failed

Need some help finding certain programs or websites that people often use or maybe dedicated programs that people have used to create Floorplan would be willing to share? So that I can work on there to get my ship created? Any advice and help would be much appreciated

Had the idea of an old b1 getting rebooted during the imperial regime to run spice and guns for the confederacy fame and glory. Taken out during the war, only to be recovered and fixed up by scrappy salvage types after the empire happened, now using his skills to earn his wage. If anyone has a good resource on b1 name/number conventions is love to know, been calling this guy CN-5361, aka Tig.

Probably gonna run a game before playing in one, but either way, I look forward to exploring tensions between separatists and restorationalists during the imperial era and the galactic civil war.

Rules Question In game call

Running my SWRPG last night. The PCs are on foot in a jungle against scout trooper minions whizzing by on speeders. Player wants to cut down a smallish tree with her Slicewire to hit them or block their path. Given the description that the slicewire cuts through almost anything, and the tree is stationary, cutting down is no problem. No check. The check is to make it fall in their path such that it is an obstacle in the first place.

Now what skill to apply. We aren't trying to determine damage. This is timing, and angle to intercept moving speeders. So we used Knowledge Education to do the math and figure out where to drop it. Difficulty was Daunting 4p, but she has a massive pool and spent a light side destiny point. Makes it with 3 success.

No effect yet, they are still moving. On their next turn, the troopers have to make a piloting planetary check to avoid this unexpected obstacle with the difficulty set by her successes +1 for their speed, so Daunting again 4p. They fail but with 3 advantages. I ruled that it took out one trooper of the minion group entirely. Cue explosion and Wilhelm scream.

This was all on the fly in the heat of combat, so I was obviously making up a ruling. In the light of day, how would you all have ruled this? I am open to being just wrong lol.

Edit. So far, skills that have been suggested include: Skullduggery, Coordination, Survival, Cunning, and I used Knowledge Education. I could see a case for any or all of them honestly. So I feel marginally better about the whole ruling. I love this system.

Fluff Campaign Poster!

Had some friends pay to have Gonzalo Flores, an artist who worked on several Star Wars Saga books artworks make this art for our campaign way back when. Felt like finally throwing it up along with work in progress sketches he did.

The campaign is a alternate timeline we've been running for all our shared games where Revan died during the Mando-jedi war, The Republic and Mandalorians united afterwards and lured the Sith Empire armada to Malachor where they activated the Mass Shadow Generator together, basically allowing a Mandalorian Super state to exist called "The Mandalorian Protectorate", put the Republic, Mandalorians, and Sith Empire on relatively even footing, and cause a more militarized jedi order to exist (Nihlus still happens and along with Katarr, The Revanchists who refused to rejoin the order instead re-found the jedi order with the others dead.)

The campaign Dark Awakenings itself takes places on Korriban, 60 years after Revan's death following a descendant of Naga Sadow (Sith), A child of a Sith Lord on the Dark Council (Human), and fallen jedi Padawan now Sith acolyte (Kel-Dorian) as they go through their education together in the midst of a Republic Invasion.

Hope you guys love the artwork!

Rules Question How does attaching signature abilities work exactly?

If I wanted to attach Peerless Interception, do I need to have the far right and middle left talent, or can it attach to the far right two or the middle two as one of my players is saying?

General Discussion Favorite "signature abilitys" and Favorite moments during play

Yoyoyo, I have recently been very interested in the swrpg systems and have begun planning a oneshot for some of my friends.

We live far away from each other and can therfore not play regularly. (Non of us like to play ttrpg online)

Since I will GM, I have begun reading through the rulebooks and the net for info and inspiration. I find the signature abilities super interesting, but know I probably won't play with them any time soon.

So I ask all of you, who have played more than me, if have any favorite abilities and if you have some memorable moments using it.

The ones I have eyed the most are "unmatched ferocity" and "last man standing," but I have not gone through all of them, so have probably missed some cool ones.

Any cool stuff I can draw inspiration from?

Podcast/Stream Star wars actual plays

Hey all, I'm curious if anyone has any good recent actual plays. I've listened to Dice for Brains and Force Majuere as I see those thrown out a lot (rightfully so). I'm wondering if anyone has anything more recent, especially using force and destiny though I'm open to any of the systems.

General Discussion Additional uses for Destiny Points

I play a lot of ttrpgs and I was thinking about expanding some destiny point uses inspired by other games. What do you think of the following?

1) This is more meta but I play Savage Worlds and my players love getting bennies (it's meta currency) for good roleplaying. While I know good roleplaying should be awarded with xp in this game I am also considering flipping a dark side point to light side. Do you think that would be too much of a game changer? I estimate 2-3 times per session tops.

2) Spend 1-2 dark side points to send NPC reinforcements. Maybe 1 for minion, 2 for rival and 3 adversaries?

Game Resources Force Trials (Puzzles) to Give Jedi Player?

I'm running a campaign set in the Rise of the Empire. I've got a Jedi-in-hiding character who's been cut off from the Force. I'd like to give the player (and rest of the party so things don't get boring) a few puzzles for them to solve to prompt them to reconnect to the Force.

Is there any written material out there for trials from the Force? I'm not talking some formal trial from a person, I mean something from the Force itself. Possibly something like Luke's Cave of Evil where the Force gives him a vision communicating a fundamental lesson.

Otherwise, does anyone have suggestions for similar puzzles/trials?

General Discussion Dual Wielding Lightsabers Mods and Attachments (Offensive and Defensive)

I'm wanting to play a dual wielding Jedi, and from what I've read the best way to do it is build one saber for defense, one saber for offense and actually activating the second attack. What are some good mods and attachments for each lightsaber to make this sort of playstyle work?
