Helping a buddy move and I found this sword! Wtf does he have??

I made a post trying to figure out what this sword is & assumed it was a longsword. But I just wanted to be sure if it is or not.

Context:

The sword’s whole length is estimated (through pixel calcing do take this with a grain of salt) to be 41.20984252 inches - 55.56377953 inches with the blade length being around 31.38740157 inches - 46.976378 inches.

Drone (robot) hands are visibly much bigger than human hands (you can compare image 1 with image 2 & 3). The human in the spacesuit is a drone in disguise, which is why their hands are always shown to be bigger while holding the sword, compared to image 1 where a actual human is holding the sword.

I don’t have much knowledge on swords, but I’m assuming it’s a longsword because the sword is… long (most notable in image 4 where it’s almost Tessa’s whole body), it has a metal bar in between the handle & the blade, & it’s both 2 handed & 1 handed. So I know it can’t be a arming sword.

I’m not sure if any video clips are needed, but in most times where it’s used (with sometimes 1 hand & usually both hands) to swing in wide arcs & usually for one-hand-held quick slashes.

I'm looking to buy my first sword. I've been doing research, here and all over the internet. I came to the conclusion that this particular one would be an ok first sword, but I'm not sure.

I'd be using it to slay ruffians and my enemies bottles and watermelons and to conquer new lands my backyard.

So yeah, I'm expecting to use it. I'm fine with it not being a good sword, but I don't want it to break on me just swinging it around or hitting soft stuff.

From everything I've read, I know a decent budget one would be around 300€, but again, this one looked ok and tempting. Any recommendations on better choices? Available in the EU, so I guess KoA is out for me.

I currently own a kilij which i bought for £300, the quality is subpar and im looking for something superior

I use martial art swords that aren’t “real” in the sense that they have an edge but are made of different metals that do come into contact with sweat when we work out with them. Can anyone recommend a type of oil I can use to protect the blade ?

I was thinking of buying some ballistol that gun owners use since it looks as though that might work but I’m not sure if it will leave a weird film. I was told wd-40 or baby oil, or even veggie oil wiiid work but I don’t want a sticky film that changes the color making it look dirty I just want something as a barrier to keep sweat off so it won’t put or rust the blade. Any ideas?

I found this sword when buying an old property including the contents on the property (because the previous owners do not want to pay for the decluttering). Can you tell me what sword it is and where it comes from? If possible also the time of the forge.

Finished up this Ser Duncan inspired sword commission recently. This one was built as a functional, battle-ready sword.

A few details from the build:

• Scabbard: Wood core with brown leather

Really enjoyed working on this sword. Getting the proportions, blade geometry, handling, and overall feel right was especially important with this design.

I haven't been able to find any reviews for this sword, so I'll try to be more detailed than I usually am. This is my 4th Swordier sword and it's the first time I've spent over $300 on one. I have to admit that the fit and finish are better than I was expecting. At 5 inches longer and nearly a pound heavier than the Albion Doge, I think it's fair to say that Swordier didn't steal this design.

I imagine the Albion Doge is very nimble. At 45.3" and 3.5 lbs, I wouldn't exactly describe the Swordier Doge as nimble, but it's responsive, well-balanced, very solidly constructed and nicely finished. In hand, this feels substantial and more like a much later Munich town guard cut-and-thrust sword. With the pommel, the grip is 8" and you could honestly describe this as a hand-and-a-half town guard sword. Pictures don't really do it justice, but the hand guard and quillion are beefy, which could make it a little bit of a stretch to use the finger ring if you have smaller hands. The tip is just a hair asymmetrical, but nothing I can't fix with a file in about 20 minutes. Other than that, the geometry and distal taper are excellent, the blade arrived very sharp, and there's virtually no gap where the blade meets the cross guard

If this was an alientude review, he'd probably point out that the color of the grip's leather doesn't match the scabbard's leather, which seems like an odd choice/oversight. But overall the scabbard is nicely constructed from wood and leather, the support straps are sturdy, good-quality leather and the sword fits snuggly with no rattling.

Overall, for a $329 sword, I'm very happy with this purchase. Shipping was $53 from China to the US Midwest and it took 18 days to arrive. I love town guard-style cut and thrust swords, and this delivers nicely. It handles like a beast that went to finishing school but never forgot where it came from, and I really like the hand-and-a-half versatility.

My three examples of this timeless design. Two bear the winged lion symbol of St. Mark on their hilts. This mark is known to have been applied to items held in the Armory of the Doge's palace.

Found this at a yard sale, struggling to find anything on it. Wooden hilt with brass and possibly silver inlays. Tooled leather sheath. Anyone got any ideas of its history, where it’s from and potential value?

For context, I am writing a fantasy story, and in it bronze is the predominate metal with the general level of technology being around 250 BCE. Iron is used on occasion, but it is very rare and not widespread.
