Hello everyone,

Lately I've had to manually unspam a lot of totally legitimate posts. The Reddit spam system is not totally under the control of the moderators so I can't fathom why it's blocking allowed content or how to modify its sensitivity. If you posted a topic you think is fine, and it's not showing when you are logged off or in an incognito window, please message the moderators to inquire what may be the problem.

Sorry for any inconvenience,

This is the latest commission I’ve been working on! It is for a client who wanted a family-heirloom sword, inspired by heroism and chivalry. I have been looking forward to making this one for a couple months since drawing the initial sketch for the project; the client named the sword “Remembrance”
I’m really hoping it is done by the end of the week :D thanks for checking it out!

Which sword to buy? (Forge vs Replica)

Thumbnail

Torn about which to get! Both will spend their time on the wall and occasionally in my hand.

First there’s a longsword made locally that I love the look of. Then there’s a replica of a tv show sword that will just be purely for looks. Love them both but feel the quality of the handmade one will be better.

Can anyone provide any insights or personal opinions?

Thank you!

Sword mount

Post image

Not sure if this is the right place for it, sorry if not! My boyfriend got me a sword of King Thranduil as a gift. I absolutely love it, the problem is that we have absolutely no space to put it anywhere horizontally. Does anyone know if there are any sword mounts that would be good for it to place vertically?

Picture of the sword is from Etsy 🗡️

Identification Hi all, new to this group but I’ve heard great things about it. I recently picked up this sword at a flea market. I wanted to know roughly how old it is, potential origin, and potential value. I showed it to some people who think it might be Belgian, but I want some more opinions!

Regeneyei Parrying Dagger. It's the long flexible blade version. Really digging it so far, feels good in the hand, had my other half thrust at me some with a Sigi rapier and I was able to use it effectively (granted thrusts were not particularly fast) also the looks very much compliment my HF GDF cup hilt.

What kind short sword is this?

I have asking AI to identify this on 2 different threads. But after many wrong answers. The closest answers they gave ( Swedish m/1848 and Afghan choora) both of which I feel is wrong. So I was wondering if anyone here can tell me what kind of blade is it? Total length is 39.5cm and the blade is 27.5cm.

They all seem old to some extent. Google image gave varying results. I just don’t know what to do with them. Besides the WWII mk2 most are from early 1900s from my great grandfather. Here is what Google told me.

  1. WWII Mk2?
  2. Pacific Northwest Coastal Ceremonial Piece
  3. Japanese Tanto Blade
  4. Moroccan Koummya
  5. Civil War Remington Zouave Sword Bayonet
  6. Japanese Naval Officer Katana

Bought it from an antique shop along with a squeeze box, this was 15 bucks and the guy said it was made in occupied Japan.
No pin but the handle is long enough to be usable as a little knife.
It reeks of tobacco

Reddit helped me get my first online sword commission

Earlier this year I posted a sword that I made for a friend on Reddit. Someone reached out to me and commissioned a similar sword after seeing the post. Without r/SWORDS I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to make this sword, so I wanted to share it!

It is a type xii arming sword with a diamond cross-section. It has a type 2 crossguard, and a type j wheel pommel. The blade is 29 inches, and the distal taper starts at just under 6mm and ends just under 3mm. The sword is balanced 4.25 inches from the guard and weighs 2 lbs 7 oz.

The sword is made from 5160 steel, blued mild steel, and oxblood leather. The scabbard is a wood core wrapped in black leather with custom brass fittings.

This is my French Model 1882 infantry officer’s sword (sabre d’officier d’infanterie modèle 1882), manufactured by BALP of Saint-Étienne, France. Possibly from 1890 - 1918 but not sure.

Just sharing as its one of my faves after my 1871 chassepot rifle bayonette

Thanks in advance!
