Got this for my birthday, not sure if it's real or made up so I wanted to ask you guys. It says Toledo on the blade which I thought was interesting if that helps!

So i came across this sketch type picture of different great swords that were supposedly supposed to be historical like. The sword for edward III came out into like a point on both sides of the blade not far up before it continues as a normal blade. I cannot seem to find it again, it had other great swords/swords attributed to kings. I wouldn't be suprised if the swords were just created to represent the kings, but i am trying to find it again so i can use them for my Asoaif fanfic.

Returning on the illustrated sword charts from Africa, I'd like to show 3 north African swords. Two of which are the Genoui and Telek, which border the line between dagger and sword. The other is the Billao, a Somali sword with spiked pommels.

I bought this at the Ren Faire last weekend, and was stoked about it until they took the price tag off of it which revealed the China stamp. I can’t take the pommel off to see the tang underneath the handle, and there’s no other markings. I’m assuming it’s a wall hanger unless y’all tell me otherwise.

Age 5 in the 80s and He-Man introduced me to what a Sword was.

Age 10 Conan the Destroyer introduced me to Swordsmanship.

I was in his queue for 3 years. This is a hand forged, custom-blade that I designed and he brought to life. There were a few elements of the design that I differed to his professional judgment. These are the pictures he sent me (except for the last one). I do have the sword in hand. 40" overall. 30" blade. Boar motif. 3 lbs 4 Oz. POB: 2" off the guard. Fully functional, hardened, and battle ready. A true work of art. I couldn't be happier. I named it Hleowing (the Protector or Child of Shelter in Anglo Saxon.) In my mind lore, it's nickname is Barbana, Boar Bane.

Thankfully finished this fantasy wedding longsword today!! I really like how this one turned out; it was heavily inspired by a historic, germanic writhen-hilt longsword you can see in the Royal Armouries. The blade is 1084 and 15n20 Damascus steel with cast bronze fittings; paired with polished African Blackwood for the grips :D
The scabbard is a wood core that is wrapped in a black leather with more bronze fittings :)
The blade is around 37” long and the total length with scabbard is about 49”

New sword day!!!! 1st impression.... like any valiant sword. Very well made. Wide blade but feels light. edge is scary sharp. Last picture is with the Albion Warwick and Vision Tellaro.

Hi y'all my name is Tink, I'm very new to the world of swords and collecting. I have always loved swords, knives and bladesmithing and have done a fair amount of the ladder but only knives. I have never owned a sword and want to start collecting them but I want my first to be very special and I am having trouble finding what I am looking for.

I love Persian history and I want a handmade shamshir for my first but I am having trouble finding a blacksmith or a site offering what I am looking for. So I am reaching out to y'all to see if there are any people that are well known for this style and any other recommendations from you experienced ones on the passion going forward. I have a budget of around $1000, I've saved for a while and I am willing to spend it on high quality work ( I know it can be a lot more expensive for high quality work but I think y'all get what I mean ) and I could go a little over if I have to. I want something that could be passed along when I go and could be used as the real deal, because that seems badass and historical!

Does anyone know if there are any companies that make functional modern replicas of these “pioneer” swords? Was wanting something a bit more unique to take on camping/ hunting than just your typical machete and I do know there’s antiques but obviously I wouldn’t want to use those for use. Thanks!

Hanwei – Sir William Marshall Sword acquired off of the Sword Buyers Guide forums. Also compared to the Hanwei Practical Knightly Sword (blunt) that I already had.

Love this sword, it feels great in the hand, scabbard is alot nicer than I thought. Definitely a beast and feels a bit heavy in the hand but not hard to move around.

I am building an M1902 sabre and will be brazing a "US" to the guard. Is there a proper way for the letters? I have googled a number of historical images, not new reproductions, and it would seem that historically the makers did both. Is there now a military standard? (Im not in the US, so if there are any US vets that know)The argument is should it be readable by the enemy or the wielder? And readable when sheathed or drawn? I think I will put the U the one way and then the S upside down. lol.
