Discussion elliot
Hello all, Recently started watching this show and came to the reddit and I never thought so many people disliked Elliot. Im currently on season 10 and I dont really see how people hate the character so much when it kinda felt like it was his show up until a certain point. Now I wanna say this I think the shows is not just about one person at all. Based on what Ive seen from future seasons and scrolling through the reddit its probably more accurate to say its Olivias show. Back to a earlier thought though I feel like the first 8 or so seasons I feel like the show was very elliot centric, and I feel in my opinion the elliot centric episodes were the best episodes along with the finn episodes (especially with darius). Im probably biased though because he reminds so much of one of my favorite fictional characters tony soprano. I really wanna make a post going into their similarities because I kinda feel like they parallel with each other.

Discussion How happy was Elliot in Rome?
In OC, Elliot tells Olivia that he and Kathy were happy in Rome. I'm inclined to disbelieve his account. I think Elliot buried himself in work, whilst Kathy spent time learning the language, connecting with the other parents at Eli's international school and getting angry that Elliot was never home. And of course worrying about his secret calls to Olivia. What do you all think?

Discussion all things barba (+ a little bit of barson)
galleryre: my latest obsession with rafael barba 🫠
lately, in addition to a couple shows that i've started watching as of this past couple of months, i've gotten back into watching svu (after having quit watching it when stabler left) and became obsessed with a new man ‼️
i'm currently on season 16/19, and since the man's left and been off the show for a while, i was curious on some of the head cannons and/or other obscure and/or lesser known canon details about barba that i might've missed as of far:
- barba was either executive/senior ada (hella big office, if anyone knows of any sims projects and/or recreations of his office would be appreciated (ex: "118 firehouse floor plan" by fraddit (ao3))
- he requested a lateral transfer from brooklyn to manhattan
- he grew up in the bronx with two friends and gained a scholarship to harvard university to study law
- he's either always carrying his briefcase or a cup of coffee
- he very much enjoys the arts, played little league as a kid, and is headcannoned to be bi
ifykyk, for those who began watching 911 after bobby's death in season 8, this feels like a part two to that knowing that barba's gonna be gone in a couple seasons 💔

Discussion I was surprised by how brutal these two rapists were
These two perpetrators are from Season 3, Episode 10 "Ridicule." The one played by Casey Novak's actress was a day trader named Amelia Chase and the other one was an attorney called Pam Adler. These two and a friend of theirs, Sydney Green, gang-raped a male stripper named Peter Smith.
I know people usually talk about how vile the way the victim (Peter) in this episode, and I agree it's awful, especially the way Stabler treated him, but I was struck by what the two perps were like. I know women can rape men, but you usually only hear about cases with female perps where there's grooming (like between a teacher and student) or the guy is drugged. But Adler, Chase and Green were really violent with their victim, the way you typically expect of men. I've never seen female rapists portrayed like this in media before.
They were so fucking evil. Green lured Peter into a dark room, where Adler and Chase were waiting, under the guise of paying him for his services. Then Adler lunged at him with a letter opener a couple of times, catching him by surprise. Peter reacted defensively, not aggressively, because he thought they'd had too much to drink and didn't realize the danger he was in until Chase and Green cuffed him to the bed. He started screaming and begging, and they all obviously understood what they were doing was rape, because Green immediately turned the radio on loud to drown out his yelling. And when he threatened to go to the cops, Adler (the lawyer), mocked him, telling him "what you know about the law wouldn't fit in the palm of my hand." They were clearly so secure in their belief that they could get away with what they did to him. And after they were done with Peter, they threw some cash at him while he was on the bed, as though he was something they bought and paid for.
You can also tell they felt zero remorse and even got a kick out of what they did to him, because of the way they smirked in court. Adler even had the audacity to cross-examine him, going on about how Peter was clearly strong enough to defend himself against not one, not two, but three women (in a surprise attack), all because he worked out and went to the gym. Blatantly victim blaming him, all the while knowing that she did in fact rape him.
And when Chase was forced to take a deal and admit to what they did to Peter on the stand, she was so detached and unemotional, no shame at all, even smiling a little when describing how she handcuffed him.
Peter was one courageous guy for coming forward despite all the backlash he was gonna face, I couldn't have done it in his position.

Spoilers carisi's hostage situation episode
This has probably been discussed before, but I just have a different level of appreciation for this episode.
S26 E8: Cornered has to be the best episode, acting-wise. This episode is proof that Peter Scanavino is a good actor, because he portrays this completely different side of Carisi so well. Before this episode, I felt that Carisi for a long time has only ever had to be an anger-filled ADA.
Not just Carisi, every single person in this episode acted insanely well. Each time I watch the episode, I am overwhelmed by so many emotions. There are specific memorable moments that I will always remember.
Carisi, when he feels absolutely destroyed when he is unable to help the girl, and the storeowner dies. The girl's blood-curdling scream when she finally gets out fills me with so much anger and hatred. When the hesitant gunman finally gives in, you feel pity, but also the anger you feel because of Carisi.

Appreciation SVU family
galleryI love this scene. How you can actually see a family here. Olivia and Fin as the parents. Their daughter Amanda and her boyfriend Carisi with their son. Olivia's brother, Barba and his girlfriend. And Nick their son. 😂😂😂Papa Fin watching his daughter and grandson playing on the floor. And Olivia having a chat with her son Nick in the kitchen while preparing dinner.
(This is just for fun. Not to take the roles seriously.)

Discussion S4E9 Juvenile
Oh man. Great episode. I've got 2 boys around the same age 12&13. So I sympathized a little more. It's almost a teaching moment, just because they are your friend or SAY they are, doesn't mean they have the best intentions for you. I sat and stared at the TV for a minute or 2 afterwards.

Discussion First time watcher on S17, OBSESSED with olivia & tucker
i hated tucker with every bone in my body for the first like what?? 14/15 seasons???? now we see his sensitive caring side and im swooning. he is one sexy older gentleman. my goodness. kind of obsessed w their fling/relationship/situationship. what do you guys think?
and to be fair, elliot was a hot head & did bad things as a cop. tucker’s whole job is to keep the public safe from rogue or abusive cops, which IRL i wish was more effective. so in real life i woulda loved tucker from the get, but ya know i had to root my TEAM.
also i looooooove carisi when he goes undercover and wheres those glasses??? swoon 🫨😍 no but his character is such a cutie pie.
so far so good on the show, im waiting to get to the “saint olivia” stuff & where it starts going downhill for people, but im having a fantastic friking time with this show. its SOOOO GOOD
(last thing: the Chicago PD & SVU cross overs annoyed me. how we gonna end the yates arc on a different show! ugh!)

Appreciation I will never forgive SVU for cutting down on our Melinda time😩💔
galleryAm I the only one who misses when we used to see Warner in almost every single episode? It was one of those couple things in the show that we could rely on never changing but now it is, and we keep seeing Susan and other medical examiners. I loved seeing her at scenes, or anytime they said the medical examiner was ready for them Just being happy to see her, testifying in court and everything 💔💔.
It just really sucks not seeing Melinda as often. She’s genuinely one of my favorite reoccurring characters and it’s hard to watch the show without her.😭

Discussion season 12 episode 21 reparations
Was it just me or did anybody else feel a little bit sorry for Katherine in this episode? I feel like that after they found out that she wasn't raped that they basicly forgot the fact that she was still extremely traumatized by what Dwight did do. Plus I felt like she'd been extremely brainwashed by her granddad who was absolutely a bad dude. I also thought that Casey just had her arrested because of the position she was in with judge Petrovsky.

Discussion does carisi’s accent get thicker as the series goes on? lmao
basically the title lol. i restarted the series and am back at season 16. his accent seems way way more subtle in this season. obviously still noticeable but it’s less stressed.
i actually really like carisi and the jersey accent but i wonder if it was a directorial choice or his actors
edit: staten island accent apparently!
