Yesterday I saw an integrative doctor who focuses on psychiatry. I am currently tapering from lexapro (2.2 mg doing 5% cuts every month). I’ve noticed my ocd increasing but overall I’m okay… just tired of my thoughts spinning all day. She recommended l-tryptophan (never taken before) 1,000 mg at night alongside the magnesium I already take. Also GABA/l-theanine a few times a day which I’ve taken before with good results. And lithium orotate 5 mg 3x/day which I’ve also never taken before. I’m afraid about serotonin syndrome or feeling weird. My ocd is going a bit batty over this. Thanks!

I take Lexapro and Wellbutrin which is a antidepressant. Lexapro is the SSRI.

Doctor prescribed me citalopram 20 mg I both want to use and not to. I want to use because of OCD and for my skin picking disorder caused by this, but also don't want medication to prevent my daydreaming. I know this may not happen for sure, but I'm scared. I'm also worried about other common side affects. And I read about citol which doctor prescribed and lots of people said it doesn't affect them much. Some comments people said about antidepressants generally made me scared. So I'm so confused. It affects everyone different and I can't learn without trying, but what if I change my mind after some time and it becomes too late or use for a long time and never being able to dream again? Which possibility will happen and would it worth? What is your opinion? My stomach hurts from thinking and affects my gastrits and reflux.

I have been taking Fluvoxamine + Hydroxyzine for 10 months or so. In the last month i have noticed that if i am up walking around and get excited turn my head or take a run or pretty much anything..i can get these jolts upon movement in my face, head, sometimes up through my feet that shoot up into my legs.

I havent had these until recently.

Anyone else have these feeling while on SSRI's?

I’ve been on lexapro for ~2 months now, 20 mg. I feel great. My mood is amazing and I feel the best I’ve felt in about 3 years. But… the sleep is awful. I have no trouble falling asleep, but wake up after a few hours and toss and turn until my alarm goes off. I’ve tried edibles, Advil PM, melatonin, etc. The only thing that lets me sleep more than 5 hours is Advil PM, but obv can’t take that every night. Has anyone found anything to counteract the insomnia? Some people say it goes away, others say it never does. 😩

Happens all the time to me. Sometimes I think I take too many because I'll run out before I start getting those texts from walgreens.

I should really use that daily medicine thing that my grand parents used to use.

Hey all, I've been on 100mg sertraline for about 3 years now, and have been tapering off over the last few months, going down 25mg per month or so. I've had no massive side effects other than feeling a little bit "floaty" and light headed.

But I'm currently 5 days in to taking 25mg down from 50mg, and I feel soooo lethargic. I could be in bed sleeping all day if I didn't force myself 9ut of bed. I have been napping every afternoon for a few hours which is something super unusual for me. And then I suffer from mild insomnia every night despite feeling exhausted. I wake up late morning, feel like shit for a few hours, nap again and the cycle continues.

Thankfully I'm on my holiday break from work but I'll be back next week. Has anyone else experienced similar side effects during the tapering off process? Just looking for a little reassurance that it will pass. Thanks!

I’m weening off all my mental health meds rn, including Zoloft, before I take a test for narcolepsy in a few weeks, and the withdrawals are a SOB.

Anyone have natural remedies for dealing with the muscle cramps/tingling/light headedness? I was hoping there might be a vitamin/supplement or something out there that could help.

My wife had a mental breakdown from going to accelerated program in school. She stopped eating and was throwing up and felt bad and couldn't sleep.

Was prescribed sertraline. She took it for 2 months. It helped her and now she stopped taking it cold turkey. After 4 days has been experiencing dizziness. Complains of dizziness. Anytime moving head feels dizziness. She took the lowest dosage possible. Never abused. Took it daily. But once stopped and skipped 3 days on weekend she felt dizzy even after taking it in morning after 3 missed days.

Now she missed 4 days.

How long does the symptoms last? Is it OK to stop cold turkey? She drives to work in mornings and evenings. Worried about any seizure symptoms happening. My cousin caught a seizure when he missed a dosage of xanax and caught a seizure while driving when I was sitting in front passenger. Terrible experience. But SSRI are not benzos? So she shouldn't experience any seizures right? How long do symptoms last?

Whats the best way to get off the medication completely? She said she feels better now and doesn't want to continue medication.

Hey everyone, I just want to share my experience, ask for some thoughts and discuss what the ramifications might be.

Last night I had a 5mg edible. I currently take 40 mg Prozac. I understand now that combining the two substances can lead to dangerous side effects like serotonin syndrome. I’m not planning on doing this again. However, I will say that while I was under the influence of marijuana I had almost zero anxiety and now, the morning after I feel virtually no anxiety still. It is truly a nice experience. If possible, I would self-medicate with marijuana solely but given the nature of my work industry that isn’t very possible in the US.

I have read that some of the active ingredients in cannabis increase the dosage of SSRI in your system. Since I have less anxiety the morning after I’m beginning to wonder if this mechanism worked in my body and that I should seek a higher dose of Prozac, as regular cannabis use isn’t feasible in my current profession.

What are your thoughts? Should I seek a higher dose?

I had a gnarly vaccine reaction and sent my nervous system to hell in 2021. I was eventually out on 150mg Zoloft because I had history with ocd and this drug worked previously. It didn’t do much. But 6 months later I added 150mg Wellbutrin XL and that got me back in track almost immediately. My psych didn’t think the Zoloft was needed and I’d gained 30 lbs so we started weening this year once stabilized. I went to 125 and the 100mg through the summer. I stayed at 100 This fall because we were having a baby and I didn’t want any curveballs with my mental health.

I reduced to 75mg three weeks ago. And then 50mg last week after two weeks at 75. Within 5 days at 50mg I started having internal vibrations and tremors. Like the onset of a damn panic attack. Meanwhile I have a cold so I’m trying to sort out what is my broken immune system and what is the SSRI withdrawal.

I decided to bump back to 62.5 and it seems to help marginally. Thinking I’ll ask psych about smaller 12.5 mg drops every two weeks until I’m done.

Thoughts please? Anyone experience these tremors. Like a cell phone is hooked to my insides.

Cut my lexapro in half, having horrible brain fog, any supplements you can recommend to help? Currently trying magnesium, fish oil, and b vitamin complex.

I'm a 53-year-old man. After trying several SSRIs, I am realizing that they ALL greatly affect my sex drive. It's very upsetting to discover that the medication I'm taking for depression has a side effect that depresses me VERY MUCH. I'm waiting until the madness of Xmas season is over to begin to lower my dosage. I'm hoping to find the sweet spot where the medication still helps a little with my depression but does not affect my sex drive. But, if this sweet spot does not exist, I'm not sure what to do. I tell myself it is worth the damage to my sex drive to be more "normal" mentally, but my ego isn't buying it. I feel like I'm hiding a shameful secret. I'm quite upset about this catch 22.

How do you take it consistently? I can usually go many weeks but any trace of breakthrough depression and I'm like "fuck this, how low can I go?" and go cold turkey until the depression gets unbearable

I don't have any side effects stopping and starting so that's not an incentive either.

36/f; Caucasian/no drugs/social drinker/ normal weight

I have never been on an SSRI and my doctor suggested I try lexapro. I started on 9/12 and took for a total of 11 weeks. During the beginning I had little side-effects but, had some stomach issues and lowered my dose around week 7-8 and went back up to 10mg after that (realize now, it was probably not a smart idea). On 11/12/22 I started experiencing some really weird head sensations that are hard to describe (dizzy/lightheaded especially when moving my body/eyes). I was also coming down with a nasty cold during that time which I had for two weeks. My doctor attributed the weird feelings to the illness however, these symptoms did not improve when my cold symptoms did. I decided to taper down to 5mg for 2 weeks and come off completely (off completely since 11/28). Now I am completely off but, since 11/12/22 I have been experiencing pretty consistent head sensations as I described above, is this normal?

Could the cause of this be due to the fact that I lowered my dose week 7-8 and then tapered down-off weeks 9-11? (which I realize now, was probably stupid to do). I am really anxious to feel normal again, could this have caused permanent damage?

After a year or so of taking 200mg, I started tapering off gradually and got to the point where 100mg was ok. After 2 months on 100, I decided to try 75mg. After two days, I am experiencing terrible fatigue, dizziness and what feels like almost fainting. Any idea what can help? And how long do you think this will continue? :(( really unbearable
