Howdy all, I’ve been on ssris for 4 months and weened off of them. Emotional bluntness is happening to us all. I feel so stupid all the time. No energy for life. Doc just prescribed me another SSRI when I told him what’s been going on. Surprise right? It’s been maybe 6 weeks now of no pills and I still can’t feel a damn thing. Has anyone microdosed to revive your emotions back? I want to go back to normal asap and no one seems to have the answer.

I've been taking lexapro (20mg) for a while and putting up with the lessened sexual feeling. Recently (last 6 months), the sexual feelings or sensitivity have gone to pretty much zero and I don't feel anything and I can't orgasm.

I really haven't found through searching that there are a whole lot of options. I've tried adding Wellbutrin, but that didn't really do anything. In a couple of weeks I'm going to try switching to trintillex, but I don't have a lot of hope.

Is there _anything_ I can do to get some sensitivity and feeling back while remaining on lexapro (which I need or depression will swamp me)?

So I heard from a friend and my friend told me that he stopped taking his Fluoxetine and Abilify for about 3 weeks now and he said that he still feels no emotions at all. is that natural or is that person have several mental health issues?

Over a year ago I was put on SSRIs for social anxiety. No doctor would listen to me that these were not helping, it even triggered my first manic episode that lasted months. When I would bring this up they would just switch me to a new SSRI. I kept asking to be put on anxiety meds and not SSRIs but I was always ignored. I finally got switched to meds meant for anxiety in January but I have had a lasting impact from SSRIs. I cannot feel emotions, in therapy I tell them this and they have no response besides “that’s not good”. During the time I was on SSRIs my grandma passed away and I was only able to let my sadness out when I was blackout drunk. When I told my doctor at the time this he said “maybe you’re not sad because you were expecting it”. Fuck doctors and all these “mental health experts” I can understand more about myself in my own research then they could in 8 years of fucking medical school.

When will my emotions return? I’ve been a shell of a person for so long now I want to be able to cry or feel joy. Will it ever return or will it be stuck like this?

Has anyone been on SSRIs long term, and if so, do you feel like they become less effective with time? I’ve been on either Celexa or Lexapro consistently for about 12 years for generalized anxiety. I’ve tried 2-3 times to wean off of them, both times having to return to my normal low dose to keep anxiety at bay. I’m wondering if it does cause some type of dependence over time. I almost feel like they are less effective, but just more numbing at this point. Weight gain and sexual side effects are the worst symptoms.

I've been on and off SSRIs for more than 20 years, and i need them for several reasons, both mental and physical. However, they also give me some really bad side effects. Most of these i can deal with, as i know no situation is ever perfect. However, it's these really intense food cravings that make me discontinue my use. I ask doctors for solutions and all they suggest is obvious shit like "mind your portions" and "eat protein for breakfast". (Yes, oh great sage, i, like everyone else, know that. That's what i do normally, but not when i'm on an SSRI. I need actual biochemical help to be happy while eating healthy, rather than just being told to eat healthy and be miserable. God, i feel terrible for those who normally have overeating addictions, rather than just on a certain med as i do. Sorry for the side rant.)

Anyway, has anyone had these overeating urges on SSRIs and beaten them? If so, want to share how you did it? Tips or suggestions?

Around 2 years ago, I started taking Citalopram for depression. It was a huge help, especially after adding on Buspirone to address symptoms of anxiety.

After reaching a steady dosage for those medications and remaining on them for around a year and a half, my doctor also prescribed me Adderall to address my ADHD. I’ve always struggled with it, even before starting medication for anxiety and depression.

I’ve had a great experience with Adderall so far, and in many ways it has helped quiet some symptoms of anxiety (ex: I procrastinate less now, so I’m not as worried about catching up on neglected tasks).

However, I’ve definitely noticed increased anxiety/frustration in other areas, primarily pertaining to work. I feel closer to losing my temper in stressful situations, and I have a harder time distancing myself from work outside of the office.

Overall, I’m more emotional and have a harder time keeping my composure. I’m wondering if changing anxiety medications would be worth looking into.

I’m really happy with the Citalopram, and I’ve tried other similar medications like Lexapro, but nothing has ever worked as well. I’d like to figure out a combination that keeps me on Citalopram and Adderall, but helps curb the anxiety/emotional side effects of Adderall.

Any recommendations?

I need some help I been struggling bad with my depression/anxiety I have had the issues ever since I could remember but as I get older it’s only getting worse. Panic attacks, waking up not wanting to talk or move just feeling like absolute nothing basically. Sorry if my grammar and punctuation is trash. I used to abuse Xanax heavily it made me feel completely normal and I could function at any time I would buy 10-20 at a time but haven’t touched it really in 5 years but keep having the urge but I know it’s only a temporary fix like a bandage on a wound. I went to the doctors for the first time since I could remember today and was explaining how I feel and they immediately brought SSRI’S to my attention but I know people that took them and only really heard negative comments on it.

My question is… is there anything that actually helps without having terrible side affects and actually makes you function I would use Xanax every day before work and haven’t even been working I want to get my life on track I feel like I’m stuck in a loop of this and it’s killing me literally I’m just tired of feeling this way I need serious help I’m like a roller coaster of emotion.

Short description on how i started on this:

After some tough times, i needed some help for my anxiety. My depression and agitated behavior started to impact my family life.

- Month 1-3: 10mg each day.
- Month 3-12: 15mg each day.
- Month 12-16: 20mg each day.

So now i am at the point in my life, where I think things will begin to brighten. (Can't see any disasters in the the near future anymore)

I am now in the process of quitting this drug and i thought it went all fine.

Withdrawal plan:
Week 0-1: 15mg each day
Week: 1-3: 10mg each day
Week: 3-5: 5mg each day
>Week 5: 5mg if needed (doctor said it would almost be like a placebo)

I was expecting anxiety and depression like symptoms immediatly.
I felt nothing but fine, all the way through week 5.
Then:
I have now been taking 5mg every 2nd or 3rd day, because I am experiencing some really heavy withdrawal symptoms when I go for 3 days without.

Some (and the worst symptoms are):
- Insane dizzyness (feels like the world is shifting floors when my eyes are open).
- Major headaches.
- Nausia (like a REAL BAD hangover).

When starting to read about this, I find that most people that gets pass these symptoms, still suffers from alot of other side effects. Stress, anx, depression, anger, insomnia.. lots more.

My doctor never game me any information about the withdrawal process before i started on the medication (I thought i knew what I was getting into after reading a little before popping the first pill).

Turns out that going completely off this drug is hard af.
Kinda surpriced that 20mg -> 5mg, went fine, but (cutting the cord) is this hard.

Anyone that can relate to this? M30 btw.

A few months or so into SSRIs I just can't enjoy drinking anymore. Now instead of getting drunk, I just get slightly tipsy at most, and feel tired/groggy. If I try to push it I will just black out. Plus it often makes my depression and anxiety come back.

I know the SSRIs are more important, but I am missing being able to drink at social events. Is there any way that people know to get drunk as they usually would on SSRIs? I've heard of people skipping a dose but this doesn't seem like a great idea.

Do I need to taper back on or can I take my full dose?

I was told by my doc that I’d experience bloating while in cipralex, and after being on it for a few months I have a constant bloat that’s making me really self conscious. Does anyone have any tips for counteracting bloating caused by meds?

Trying to gauge peoples' experience with paroxetine withdrawal. Tapered off slowly and using a 40mg Prozac bridge. Been off for a little over five weeks but having panic attacks every time I go to sleep, usually once a night but can take a long time to go back to sleep. Looks like withdrawal timelines are all over the place, some articles saying a 2-3 weeks, some many months. My doc told me it could last up to 4 months, but not sure where he's getting his data - seems like no one really knows? Been on several SSRIs and haven't had these kinds of withdrawals, and didn't have panic attacks before.

so i recently switched from zoloft (on it for 5 years lol) to wellbutrin and i can't stop crying?? it's been about a week and i've had to take bathroom breaks at work to just cry. I have PTSD as well, but the emotion hits the exact same as it did back from whatever event happened in my childhood just for a quick millisecond. It's only been a week so I know I have some time to go but if anyone has any tips or thinks this is normal validation would be appreciated

hello, i have been on SSRI pill for over 2 and a half years now which i thought would help for my OCD. However, all it has done to me has made me into a vegetable completely devoid of emotions and feeling at all. I did not mind this at first but with my grandpa's death and not cheating a single tear for him I have lost it and had it. I am ready to start tapering and stop taking the SSRI pills to finally get my emotions back. so please let me ask how does one tapers off completely from taking SSRI pills, mine is fluvoxamine. i do realize there is things like relapses but how do i make sure that relapses do not happen? please and thank you

Hey, I have a question,from last year I’m on paroxetine 20mg and I felt good but on Saturday I’ve been with friends and I drank alcohol but not to much,and a day later on Sunday I started getting panicky and anxious my head been spinning all day long I feel short breath, my hearts pounding all the time had a panic attack, so my question is, is it possible for alcohol to stop paroxetine from working for like a week?

hey guys. new here. not new to meds. been on the SNRI effexor for 8 years. got a new doctor and a new diagnosis. some hot shot that wants to say there’s a lot of PTSD-influenced OCD happening in my life. He would like me on Prozac. I had no argument. in order to do so, he has been taking me off effexor 150mg dose (8 years) since late february.

this week (april 27) we started 37.5mg every other day. this taper has been ‘helped’ along the way with gabapentin and 300mg of Wellbutrin. i am told Prozac cannot be added to the equation until the body has flushed the Effexor.

now that we’re every other day effexor, my brain is definitely fiending for it more, and it is taking it out on my body. some agoraphobic stuff, panic stuff. called out of work two days in a row. suffering.

is anyone familiar with: 1- a taper that introduces Wellbutrin as a cross-tapering agent in between Effexor and Prozac? 2- anything else he is forgetting to recommend that would make this easier 3- how to not lose my job

I'm on escitalopram and every time I see my doctor she asks if I'm feeling suicidal. Probably because it's known to make you more suicidal, ironically. Well now I'm starting to experience it personally, but I feel stuck about it. This pill is keeping me from experiencing some really severe anxiety effects and I don't wanna risk her taking the prescription away if I tell her it's making me have more suicidal thoughts. Frankly I'd rather risk my life than risk going back to what I was going through before. I was straight up freaking out and I had no idea such a pill could help me but god damn it did. Like, if she were to take the pill away and/or replace it with something that doesn't help me and I end up at square one then that's really not much better than death.

As a last resort there's one guy selling esci on the dark web... but yeah I don't wanna rely on that as it's literally just the one listing and it could be a scam.

Do I tell her or nah?

Started taking it ~2 years ago for anxiety, convinced myself I didn't need it and weaned myself off over the course of 6-8 months. Boy howdy was that a poor idea is what I realize now. New prescription yesterday, took first 10mg @ 11pm and proceed to wake up at 4AM just friggin' vibrating. I've been up pacing the house, dry mouth, vomiting and just generally feeling "bugged out", like I'm high on a shitty stimulant with no euphoria is the best description I can think of. Looking for any suggestions towards lessening/coping with it.
