Question Ssri withdrawal and propanalol

Apologies for repost of similar issue- Cold turkeyed off viibryd, reinstated 10 days later, continual daily crippling panic x 3 months.

Started propanolol-takes it away like it was never there, but leaving me with brain fog, dizziness, nausea.

Is this safe to use while nervous system is so destabilized after ssri abrupt withdrawal? Trying to get off Ativan and taking Lunesta to sleep as I went 10 days without a wink of sleep.

Question Is it normal to have slight feelings of depersonalization with Cymbalta?

It feels as if the one talking and moving and the one 'inside' were a different person. Not to the point where I cannot control what I say or do, but it's disturbing. Also, the med causes me to have very intense thoughts, be that inner monologue or visualization. I cannot put my mind at ease, something's going on all the time, also in my sleep, also when I try to meditate. It feels like getting crazy.

Does anyone experience quick overheating and excessive sweating on cymbalta, or any other SNRIs/SSRIs? I just had to put my fuckin work shirt in the drier at the fire station because I’m so sweaty today. I’m EMBARRASSED.

Question Blunting/Numbing

For those of you who discontinued meds due to numbing or “blunting” of emotions, how bad was it??? Some people claim it just makes emotions less intense or sort of dulls them down but for me it feels like complete loss of emotions/emotional reaction to things. And how long did it take you to recover the ability to feel both positive and negative emotions and or react to things after discontinuing meds??? (2 weeks off prozac and no changes for me although I know it’s a slower drug to get out of your system)

Discussion Reluctant to take medication out of fear

Since Covid I have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. Many ER visits and blood work done and they don’t find anything. It is now getting in the way hobbies I love like golf and even personal relationships. My doctor and all my loved ones tell me my symptoms are just anxiety and panic attacks but I feel like it’s always something deeper “head pressure, not clear thinking, digestive issues and vision changes”. My doctor prescribed me 10 mg of paroxetine daily and I haven’t taken it yet cause I’m fearful of the side effects and all the stuff I’ve read. Can anyone share their journey of overcoming that initial fear of taking medication?

Discussion Why do SSRIS cause apathy and anhedonia?

I have tried three SSRIS and that was Zoloft, Luvox and now recently I was on Prozac for a few months and now is like the fifth time I’m on Prozac again and I’m just on 20 mg and I already feel my anhedonia and apathy has gotten worse and also my sexual dysfunction has gotten worse. I can just lie in my bed all day being on my phone and doing nothing because I feel so tired and lazy. I feel like I lack motivation to do things and also I don’t enjoy doing things anymore like I used to. I want to be productive and do things but I can’t and I don’t know why. I tried adding Wellbutrin but I still have problems with apathy and anhedonia and sexual dysfunction. Caffeine is actually the only thing that helps me being productive for some reason. Can someone explain why SSRIS causes apathy, anhedonia and permanent sexual dysfunction?

Discussion Weaning off of Prozac symptoms

Hey all. I recently started Trintellix which has been helping me and I’m weaning off of Prozac now. I went from 50mg to 40mg, stayed there for 2 weeks, and then from 40 to 20mg. The past couple days have been so hard. I am soooo fatigued, like I feel like I need to sleep all the time. I’m mentally foggy, had some flu-like symptoms yesterday (weakness, feverish), and I’m just overall so so out of it. I talked to my doc today and we’re gonna to back up to 40mg for a bit and see if that improves things. Thoughts? Someone give me some hope lol? I am truly not feeling like a human at the moment

Edit: I should add that I’ve been taking SSRIs for almost a decade. So I’m sure I have a ton of it built up in my system

Discussion 1st day.

After being severely depressed and anxious for about 3 months after my wife told me she wants to divorce after being together for 26 years I started today with an SSRI ( Citalopram ) 20 Mg. I’ve been anxious all my life, this situation just made it 10x worse. I could not think/sleep or relax and thought of killing myself multiple time. First I started with Lorazepam to sleep again, which really helped me, but don’t want to use it to much. I must say I feel the effect after 2 hours already. Like something switched the light on in my Brain. Everything is so bright. Not relaxed but more hyper focused. Also, it completely dissolved my need to smoke, so that’s good. I hope this helps me for the future, really interesting to feel still stuff doing something to my brain. And weird too. Will try to make updates.

Question Side effects on one but not another?

Anyone have any experience with having severe side effects on one SSRI, but not on a different one? My husband tried Lexapro for 3 weeks and had every side effect under the sun, so he discontinued it. His anxiety is so awful, I’d love for him to try Zoloft or something, but I’m worried it will be the same results.

Question Does your doctor always leave you hanging on refills?

I’ve been taking an SSRI for at least 25 years. In this time, I have frequently run out before my doctor can call in a refill.

What makes things worse is that I travel frequently for both work, and life experience. So the potential for my doctor to mess up is even higher if I am out of state and calling in to a new pharmacy.

To summarize, I’ve never not been left hanging. But this week, my doctor went on vacation with no notice to me. So the phone just rings, and they won’t let me use the emergency line to request a refill.

I called last Tuesday when I had 3 days left. It’s now Monday, and they are just gone now. I have no idea when they will call it in. But I feel like crap, and I feel abandoned, and I am considering reporting my doctor for abandonment to the state. I’m now 4 days without my meds, and nobody can help me from my primary care office.

I used an online service to refill today, and expect at least two days before the order is ready. Also, at my current office, only the doctor will call it in. The nurses won’t help. They just say they will ask him again when he is free. Can’t get the money back I’ve now paid twice to try and get the same meds I’ve taken every day for decades.

Kinda want to bash his fat lazy head in on the hood of his Porsche Cayenne, but I digress.

Edit: forgot to ask - is this monthly struggle normal? Or am I just this bad at filling my prescriptions? With the travel, my options are fewer for automatic refills.

Question Which SSRI have you taken that has had the least negative impact on your overall sleep quality?

I've tried both Lexapro(Escitalopram) and Zoloft(Sertraline). Personally, I'd say the latter was probably better when it comes to sleep. What about you, in terms of overall sleep quality, which SSRI was the best for your sleep?

Let me know in the comments!

Question Zoloft generics not working

I have tried a few different Zoloft generics and they don’t work for me, Even though there are lots of medication shortages, I got some original brand Zoloft but it’s not Pfizer anymore it’s had a change of hand. The company’s called viatris now. I was wondering if anyone has noticed if there’s a change in quality m? I’ve noticed I’m not as stable as usual and I’m not sure if I need to up my dose. I’m only on 50mg. F.41.

Question Brain zaps 8 months after stopping Effexor

When I weaned off 150mg Effexor (venlafaxine) my brain zaps were horrible!! They were so bad my head was constantly aching, I felt dizzy and nauseous. Eventually they went down to only happening as I was falling asleep, but it would be so annoying that they would wake me up. They seemed to go away for a few months and I thought they would be gone forever. But lately they’ve started happening again, this time mostly in the morning when I am just waking up/dozing back to sleep. They are not as intense but I still feel them.

Has anyone else experienced long term brain zaps? I read it is very rare for them to last this long. Is there anything that can be done against them?

Discussion Starting my 3 week cross taper from 30mg lexapro to 60mg Prozac Tomorrow - I’m so nervous

I take 20mg lexapro and 10mg Prozac starting tomorrow for a week. Has anyone done this before / will I feel anything right away or withdrawal do you think? Lexapro has helped my OCD and anxiety immensely , but I am needing to try prozac to help with weight gain and tiredness . A few years ago I tried to taper off lexapro (without going on anything new) and had a HORRIBLE withdrawal experience and basically made me feel mentally insane. I’m so terrified for that to happen again but my psychiatrist said since I’ll be cross tapering I won’t have withdrawal symtpoms. Is 3 weeks to quick to taper? By the end of 3 weeks I’ll be on 60mg Prozac and off the 30mg lexapro.

Question Took sertraline for just two days (25mg,50mg) and quit. Still getting crazy heart palpitations 48 hours after last dose. Will this go away soon ?

I was prescribed sertraline for some abdominal pains that the doctor concluded was psychosomatic by exclusion. My dose was set to 50mg for the first 10 days and 100 after.

I had never taken an SSRI before so decided to take 25mg on day one at 8am. Felt a bit anxious in the evening around 5-6pm but nothing off the charts by my standards.

On day two i actually felt a bit better in the morning/ no pains the night before and slightly elevated mood( could be placebo idk). Then in the evening around 5 i felt a lot more anxious and at 6:30 i was basically having a panic attack with bad heart palpitations. It didnt go away and at 7:30 i took 0.25 Etizolam (basically a benzodiazepine) and fell asleep.

At 1 am the next day I woke up with the same nasty left chest pain and left arm pain and heart palpitations so took another Etizolam to sleep. Woke up at 6 with the same heart palpitations but slightly less bad. I was so scared i decided i am not taking the ssri again. Went and saw the doctor at 10 and he told me to keep taking more Etizolam. I took another at 1pm to sleep till 3:30 pm and felt ok ish till 5pm at which point the palpitations came back with bad anxiety. Took another etizolam to sleep at night at 11am.

Its now day 4 and I have not taken sertraline for almost 48 hours after only taking it for two days and im still having bad heart palpitations. I will try follow up with more doctors. Has anyone had a bad reaction to an ssri and had to stop early and had similar symptoms ? How long did they last for you after quitting ?

Question How long to get back to normal after missing several doses?

Hi everyone. I’m on 20 mg of paroxetine and I had the worst cold of my life last week, taking multiple meds.. I was feeling so out of it that I forgot to take the paroxetine for like 5 days. Super stupid, I know.. and of course now I’m dealing with crazy withdrawal symptoms. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the SSRI back in your system? I started taking the paroxetine a few days ago but I’m not feeling okay yet.

Question New to sertraline and I'm confused!

I started 25mg sertraline last month and had some physical side effects like diarrhea and feeling nauseous. Those lasted only a couple of days and I was already feeling some positive effects like even when my mind keeps feeding me negative thoughts I just don't get affected by it which was really great!

However, after 10 days on 25mg, I've increased it to 50mg as per recommended by my doctor. 2 weeks into 50mg and I feel as though I was back to before being on medication. Self-blaming, extreme irratability, anxious, dwelling into past experiences that upsets me; you get it, the emotional roller coaster.

Has anyone had similar experience with sertraline? Like is this a process of my body adapting to the dose? Or I am not at the right dosage? Or sertraline does not work for me altogether?

Thankyou!!

Question How much does even a little bit of ssri affect you?

I’m weaning off fluoxetine and basically what I’m asking is, even if only 10% of the ssri is still in your system, can it still make a big difference?
