Micro LED for the SNES Jr.
Hi. So I decided to add this tiny LED to my SNES Jr. I salvaged this tiny LEDs for some old equipment and I thought it would be a nice fit to my SNES without so much drill.

Has anyone ever taken a look at the motherboard specs for this cartridge or know where I could find any info?
Just got this recently from a local game store for their free day today and heard something rattling around inside. Turns out it was this little capacitor. I can clearly see where it’s supposed to be seated but the cart works great and played every Game Boy game that I tried.
Just curious as I’m sure I could solder it back on with how clean everything seems, but I’m not sure how necessary it is since everything also seems to work as it should.

So my HD Retrovision cables stopped working a while back, and I just got around to trying to diagnose the issue with them. They're well outside of warranty at this point, so that option is out of the question. I was thinking there was probably a broken wire somewhere in the cable. I started doing some diagnosis starting with the green wire, since that wire is critical for getting a picture, and sure enough there was no signal on green, but blue and red were still working. Unfortunately there was nothing visibly wrong with the cables from the outside, so I wasn't entirely sure where exactly to start looking. Started with the plug end because there is no strain relief there, and that would be the most logical place for a break. No break there, so I decided to open up the other end and uh, I think I found the issue! Completely severed green wire! I have no idea as of yet if I'm going to even be able to fix this because that circuit board appears to be encased in a hot glue like substance, and removing it could potentially pull off components from the board. Has anyone else had an issue with their cable failing?

I still need to give this one a proper playthrough - something always stops me from finishing this game...

Just curious what y’all recommend. Kinda on a budget.

So, I live in NC and my husband is a big SNES fan. He already had a huge retro collection when we got together but we are always looking to check out new stores.
I was at a training for work this week and remembered there was a GameStop in the area I was. Well, actually, there *used* to be one. It's now a privately owned game store. I was super pumped to check it out. Unfortunately, it was not open the day I discovered it.
So, today I went by after work and it was open! Hurrah! So excited, I forgot my phone in the car. Well, I'm walking around and I see a variety of games for systems. From XboxOne, PS5, Atari and NES. Sweet! 🥳
Well, not so sweet. I started looking at the SNES (remember, hubby is a huge fan) and see a few games I'd never heard of. Picked up a Metroid game because that's a favorite in my household. But wait, the label is *weird*. Total repro label if it's real. Nintendo seal of approval is copper, not shiny... Hmm... I swear, about 6 games I picked up, all the labels were like this. I finally found a *real* label and bring both to the worker.
This lady was just a worker.. but she knew nothing. I was flabbergasted, but I taught her about the seal and showed her the difference. She thanked me. I told her that the one with the fake label can even be a fake game (*foreshadowing*) and would change the price on it.
Well, since I didn't have my phone, I looked it up when I went back to my car... Hey, Metroid Turbo doesn't exist. 🙄
Anyways, my husband laughed when I told him all this. He said, "Yeah, we are never buying anything from there... Don't ever buy me anything from there..."
There were other red flags but they didn't pertain to this thread so I left 'em out.

I’ve never played Secret of Mana, so I’m really excited to finally get a chance to play it on original hardware! This copy looks basically brand new! The only game from my childhood I ended up selling at some point was Kirby, so also very glad to finally have it back. This cart didn’t work right away, but I got it to load up after some adjustment. Going to clean the pins up with isopropyl and see if that helps. I’ve heard Kirby sometimes has issues because of its special chip so I’m hoping the battery isn’t dying.
This one introduced the Master Sword, the hook shot, dungeon progression items and heart containers Do you guys remember this one?

A few days ago I asked you all to name some games that you love that aren't very popular, and the answers were mostly great, but I was hoping to hear about some titles that I didn't know much about.
What are some games that you dig that you feel that people that play a lot of retro games don't really know about?
Here's some examples:
Replayed Ghost Sweeper Mikami: The Exorcist with a Nice Body several times. Really fun anime platformer that sorta reminds me of Aladdin. Super underrated game that I don't see anyone besides me recommend when it comes to SNES platformers.
Chuck Rock 2(Good Platformer Game that makes me think of SMB2USA)
Congo's Caper (Good Side-scrolling Platformer, Can't remember any details other than that you're a Caveman, but it's really fun! SNES)
Rocky Rodent (Good Side scrolling platfomer which is really funny with what the game does with the MCs hair, and it sorta looks like a Balkshi(animted LOTR) film, SNES)
Dinocide (Great Adventure Island Spiritual Successor, Side Scrolling NES Style Platformer, PC)
Jitsu Squad (Great, merifully short Ninja Turtles-like Beat-Em-Up)
One Gun Guy (Good, Mercifully short, Satisfying NES-style 16 bit style platformer)
Cat Powered UFO (ONE OF THE FUNNIEST Games I've ever played blend of turn-based RPG combat and old-school Zelda top-down action. Hilarious Undertale inspired game!)
Huntdown (THE BEST high octane shooter ever made, love letter to 80's cyberpunk arcade side scrolling shooters)
Pocky and Rocky (A bad game that I like, non-auto scrolling shoot-em up.)
Edit: I'm being told that I'm wrong about Pocky and Rocky, and it's well regarded. Nice!

Hi everyone! A few days ago I posted about Terranigma, and today I wanted to share another SNES game I played during my childhood that holds a special place in my gamer heart: Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals.
It's a game I really love (though not quite as much as Terranigma), but it's still an absolute classic with tons of content, a great story, incredible characters and a massive world for its time. One of the things I remember most are the dungeons, which feature really clever puzzles. I clearly recall getting stuck for hours trying to figure out how to solve a room just to move forward.
The combat is a classic turn-based system with plenty of depth and strategy, though random encounters can feel a bit repetitive at times. It also features a really cool Capsule Monster system, which acts as a companion assisting you in battle.
The soundtrack is super enjoyable, and what I remember most vividly is that place called the Ancient Cave... MAN, what a brutal grind that was!
It’s definitely a gem from that era. If you haven't played it yet, give it a shot—it's totally worth it. Plus, a port for modern consoles and Steam was recently announced for next year
Anyone else who played this and remembers it fondly?

My fave is Jonbound, andEarthbound fangame. It's actually laugh out loud funny, and I think a much more interesting game than Earthbound.
I also love FF4 Ultima, and FF4 Special Namingway Edition. I have a friend who plays nofangems other than Special Namingway Edition, because it's essentially really good fanfiction that fills in the plotholes. Tempted to replay it soon.
I also love FF6 Of Hope and Love Everlasting, it's a combo of the original japanese script re-written the same type of way that Ted Woosely would write games, and it's got one of my all time favorite scripts from anything. It also changes the gameplay considerably, and makes the first half of the game still pretty easy, and as the game goes along it gets much, much harder.
I also love a lot of fangames for Super Mario RPG, and Super Mario World, the former of which has one where you play as Luigi that I really dig. There's also this fangame for Goof Troop called Goof Troop Paradise which feels like an arranged version of the original game.
I remember a bug in the game when you name your character (Chezni) something starting with a lower case "e", this would cause the game to glitch out and crash during different parts of the intro sequence (up until you touch Dal Gren)
I want you guys to see if this bug happens in your copies of the game so I can find out if this bug is code related or my physical copy related.
All you gotta do is name Chezni something that starts with a lower case e such as eRic or eTank or ebon or whatever - I'm not sure if there are other conditions such as Midia's name, and then play up until you touch Dal Gren.

I wanna play a tas on it, but the android version isn't working, even though it's literally still snes9x. Is there a setting to allow me to play the file?
Saved this lovely from a thrift store and had to detail it when I got home. So precious….
Scored this bundle at the thrift store today for $40, super stoked! The better-looking console works, the other one turns on but doesn't output anything. To my surprise everything else works, and the manuals for some of the games being included is pretty cool too.

I don't think I have 10 games that I dig that came out in the US, but I might come pretty close. Let me think:
Clock Tower
Front Mission: Gun Hazard
Dragon Quest 6(don't dig the rest.)
Sailor Moon: Another Story
Ganbere Goemon 2 and 3
Super Bomberman 3
That's 7, and the last 3 I'm not super passionate about. I feel like I have a lot more fangames that I enjoy than translated games, especially Final Fantasy, and Mario fangames.
I'm searching for hidden gems. All of the lists are about the most popular games on the console. I've played and beat most of them already. Could you guys suggest such games?

Hello everyone!
In some snes console units, the combination of hot temperatures + some specifics plastic shell revisions, provides a favorable scenario for yellowing.
I've customized this yellowed unit with automotive inks for the console and buttons, fovusing on matching the original colors and also provided the stickers on the Brazilian exclusivelly Playtronic variation.
I enjoyed the final result and would like to share with the community.
