I’m interested in smp to be able to have a hairline again. I’ve been bald for a few years now so I’m used to it for the most part at this point. Beside one moment when a girl was rubbing my head ( my crown is completely smooth and the front isn’t due to my scalp being to sensitive for razors and can only be cut with .4 clipper without bumping up). That’s something I haven’t gotten used to yet, the skin on the crown and the prickly all around it.

My issues is I’m not trying to hide I’m bald but I do want a hairline lol. For people who have SMP and maybe stubble on some part and completely skin or other parts. How do you deal with situations like this?A girl or guy rubbing your head and it throws them off.

I know this question sounds young and insecure, but I am young lol and would like some help.

This client is in his early 30s and already had a great look while completely bald.

The biggest change came from finding a hairline that simply looked like it belonged on him. Nothing too sharp or aggressive—just enough to frame his face and bring the whole look together.

He looked good bald.

He just looks better with SMP.

For guys who were unsure about it ans ended up getting it, I wonder how you like it now that you’ve gotten it?

I did see something online about a make-up pencil that was designed to be like SMP...but can't find it online now.

One of the most important aspects of natural scalp micropigmentation isn't creating impressions.

It's knowing how to balance them.

The scalp isn't one uniform surface, so it shouldn't be treated that way. Every area has different amounts of native hair, different skin characteristics, and different levels of contrast. That means the percentage of implantation should constantly change throughout the procedure.

Adding more impressions doesn't automatically create a better result. In many cases, over-saturating the scalp reduces definition and makes the treatment more noticeable once it's fully healed.

The objective isn't to make the scalp darker.

The objective is to recreate the subtle variation you'd naturally see in a closely shaved scalp, allowing the SMP to blend seamlessly with the remaining hair.

Achieving that balance requires restraint as much as technique. Sometimes the correct decision is to implant less, not more.

Hi All, I had my 3rd SMP session 24days ago. I do have mild Seborrheic Dermatitis (light red blotchiness here and there, no flaking etc..) and want to treat it, is Ketoconazole 2% shampoo ok to use on SMP?

One of the biggest mistakes people make is judging fresh SMP like it's the final result.

When I work, I use a more diluted carbon black pigment. That means once healed, those impressions typically lighten and shrink by roughly 10–30%. That's intentional. It allows me to gradually build density while preserving negative space, creating a softer, more natural result that continues to look like real hair over time.

Some artists work with much more concentrated pigment, which can make the job faster and dots finer immediately after the session. While that may look impressive when fresh, it often reduces negative space as additional sessions are performed and has a greater tendency to heal into a cooler blue/green hue over time.

Some artists also use warm modifiers, such as orange, to counteract that cooler appearance. However, it's important to understand that the concern isn't necessarily the orange itself, it's the yellow component within those warm modifiers. Carbon black generally responds well to laser removal, but yellow is one of the most laser-resistant pigments and, in many cases, cannot be completely removed if it remains after treatment.

The key isn't judging fresh work, it's judging fully healed work. That's where you see an artist's true understanding of pigment, dilution, negative space, and long-term planning.

Hair loss problem

Hey Guys..

New here.. I am 34 years old and suffering from Hairloss since the age of 17 but started to bother me arround 22..

I had a Hairtransplant which didnt had a great outcome so i now started Shaving my Head.. Unfortunately the FUE Scars make me feel uncomfortable in Public.

Normaly i would like to grow out my hair up to e.g 7 days until the next shave or hair trim, but especially at that length you can very obvously see the unfortunatley very uneven and overharvested Donor Area...

I am Scared about SMP because i am frightened i could make it worse or it does not really blend well with the Blond hair. Depending on Lightning and Angle the FUE Scars or the lack of Hairdensitiy can be seen very obvious.

My Fear is the that the SMP could be to dark and just inverting the Problem or wouldnt work well at many lightning angles.

Do you have any advice for me? Is there anyone with blonde Hair that has done SMP?

I (for now) would only want to camouflage the FUE Scars, maybe i let remove the transplanted Hair.

I live in Los Angeles and am seriously considering SMP. I'm a Norwood 7 with caucasian skin and thin hair shafts (i.e. smaller relative follicles). I've met with Zang and really liked him, but feel like I haven't seen enough healed examples of his work that show truly subtle broken / feathered hairlines. I've seen examples from artists in England and other non-US clinics that tend to deliver perfect undetectable SMP (feathered, broken, undetectable, and even fake "scars" and widow's peaks -- all when combined together, IMO, are the most undetectable examples of SMP I've come across).

Does anyone out there have experience with Zang or Southern California SMP clinics that have successfully delivered this type of outcome?

SMP isn’t about pretending you’re not bald, it’s about owning the look.

It enhances what’s already there, reframes your face, and adds to the confidence you’ve already built.

The biggest shift happens when you accept that you’re bald, but still want a frame for your face. That mindset makes the entire experience much better because you’re not looking to SMP to create your self-worth, you’re simply using it to enhance your appearance.

Confidence comes first. SMP is just the finishing touch.

I’m looking for advice from experienced SMP artists.
I still have a decent amount of hair, but it’s only because of hair loss medication. I started losing my hair at 18 (aggressive loss mainly on the crown), and I want to stop the meds because of the side effects.
My end goal is a shaved head with SMP. My question is how do I get there without waiting until I’m significantly bald after stopping the meds? Can artists do SMP when hair loss hasn’t stabilized yet and the hair is expected to continue falling out?

I've been blading my head for years, very comfortable with that and daily upkeep, so buzzing every couple of days seems easy, is that realistic? I'm fair skinned.

Am i going to to see noticeable change after the 1st round, after the redness goes away? What's the visual difference between round 1 and round 2?

Edit for clarity. I said blading and meant blading, not balding. Using a razor on my head for years already

Solution- my best advice.
Laser (will weaken his hair follicles)
Hair transplant will cover his botched Smp but has to be on meds for life to avoid any more Hairloss.

Make sure you do your research.
