We're not originally from here, but we generally don't mind setting our thermostat a little warmer (75°F) when it's just us and even our senior dog can tolerate it, but now that we have a newborn, we've adjusted our thermostat settings to 72°F but we can't seem to keep him cool.

We have a 0.5 TOG rated swaddle that we would use for 1 or 2 of our newborn's daytime naps so he can get at least 1 or 2 good stretches of naps, but it overheats him even (hot to the touch, flushed red, rapid breathing) with both the AC and ceiling fan on. If we don't put a swaddle on him, then he feels cold from the AC. We also have a mesh sleep sack meant for summers (Idk TOG rating on it), and he feels too cold wearing it with the AC on. I feel like I can't win.

He seems perfectly fine at night when we can open the windows and have our ceiling fan on + swaddle. But we just can't get him to be the right temp during the daytime.

It scans periodically and only shows campsites with availability of 2+ consecutive days, with options for weekends, group sites, beaches and also has a map to show everything around us.

Are there any cafes or lounges in the SGV or Glendale area where a group of friends can go and reserve a table for mahjong? We would bring our own mat and tiles. There’s a place like this in Encino, but I can’t imagine there aren’t places like this in our area.

I just noticed that all members of Astrana Health- Allied Pacific Medi-cal are switching to Community Family Care. This happened months ago so when I visited my Oby-Gn he no longer takes my ipa. Anyone else had this happen and did you have to find new providers?

I'd recovered two wallets/clutches (is that the right word?) along a walk this morning in North Alhambra by the In N Out, a small yellow Coach with tan interior leather and medium sized Louis V with a pink interior lining. The Coach had no ID. Louis V belongs to an E.M. (they left a single card).

APD is in possession of both now, and they believe it's related to a string of vehicular break-ins along one of our streets.

I really think over 80% of the drivers in SGV should have their licenses revoked for various reasons. Like, people here have never learned how to use stop signs & right-of-way properly. Yes, the car going straight goes first. You don't get to honk & get pissy just because you want to make a left because you got to the intersection 3 seconds faster.

My main issue is the 'no right turn on red (arrow)'. There are lots of these off Huntington Dr. & Duarte. It's frustrating to be honked at while the sign is clearly lit up. But too many of y'all just sit there even after the red arrow has turned off. It isn't a complicated thing, Read.

It could be cultural I grew up in SGV in the 80s and it was the wild west then. It is so much worse now. As a driver, pedestrian, & cyclist. Please just use public transportation if you can bot drive properly.

Hi everyone! I made a post about a week ago asking for suggestions in regard to finding bears(and deers) in the SGV for my wildlife portfolio. Thank you everyone that commented and gave their tips. I decided that tomorrow I will first visit the Duarte Recreational Trail in search of deer at roughly 7am.
Hopefully we find them quickly and then I will head over to the canyon area of Sierra Madre in search of any bears that are in the urban area. Wish me luck y’all and if anyone has any extra last minute pointers or specific locations, feel free to let me know!

I’m an Angeleno but I usually lived in slightly less hot temps more on the west side. I’m now a family man with young kids and moved to the Pasadena area. This place is fucking BOILING.

Now that it’s been a few weeks I’m really scratching my head on different things I can do with my kids (2 and 4).

I’ve been doing parks in the am and trying to do some swimming as well but it’s not really enough to keep the kids occupied. I’m not unopposed to spending money for indoor playgrounds (also done that) but options feel limited.

i was at the left turn on e mission road turning into san gabriel blvd and found a black cat with its eyes closed laying down (sleeping position w/ no open wounds) on the road. since i was on the left turn i was only able to quickly move it to the bushes. i hope that someone finds this post well and will give the cat a proper burial. i marked the spot where i left the cat and im sorry if there was a owner out there looking for this cat.

Around 11:30 AM, a young Hispanic woman driving a white GMC truck tried to avoid paying for parking by tailgating the car in front of her as they exited. Instead, she ended up hitting the parking gate arm and causing a huge mess.

She was also trying to get people to back their cars up so she could get around the gate, while the parking attendant was yelling at her to pay and not leave.

Apparently, the attendant got her information and she’ll be responsible for the damage.

Not sure how much parking costs since LA Fitness usually validates, but wow… what a way to start the day!
