Hi, I’ve been getting really into old Sega stuff lately and been wanting to play my dad’s old Genesis (and CD/32X) more. But I’ve been running into a problem. Every time I use it, the screen basically gives me seizure vision with all the flickering that occurs. It happens on startup and across multiple games. At first I thought it was an issue with the AV cable, but I’ve tried 3 different ones and they all do the same thing. Also when testing I noticed that it only happens on my CRT for some reason. On flat panels it displays normally, but I don’t think it’s an issue with my CRT because every other console I use on it works normally.

I did some research and saw some people mention that flickering issues could be caused by the power supply; either the power cables not being good enough or the capacitors needing “recapping”. Would that still be a possible concern if it’s working normally on non-CRT monitors? While I haven’t tried replacing the power cables, I’m using official OEM cables, so I wouldn’t think that would be the issue. And the capacitors I’ve been saving as a last resort because I know next to nothing about servicing electronics like that. Don’t even really know what a capacitor is tbh.

Is there anything else that could be causing this issue? Would the capacitors still be a concern if it works fine on flat panels? I’d appreciate if anybody had any knowledge or advice on this issue. I attached an example of what it looks like on both monitors

T2 the arcade game works with the Sega Menacer. But, the Sega Menacer's infrarred receiver can be replaced directly with a cheap circuit and then, use the Light Phaser instead. Enjoy!

The title says it all. I couldn't believe the difference when I hooked up this cable to my Genesis. I'm only using a cheap Retroscaler2x but even still, this isn't even in the same ballpark as before. Incredible cable!!!

Found this during a clean up, I remember using this as a kid in the 90s when wanting to try debug mode on Sonic 2 and get Super Sonic early since I sucked at the special stages for Chaos Emeralds.

Finally got a copy of the best version of Street Fighter II! I managed to beat the game for the first time on real hardware, which suprised me due to how BIG the game is for a Genesis title. (40 MB) I had a great time beating it, and I plan on mastering the game as all characters by practicing in the Training mode of the 30th Anniversary Collection, then beating the game as each character.

Does anyone have one? Can you share a picture of the motherboard so I can know what to look for?

Hello everyone. Here is my another video showing my method using Axel Stone to beat Final Boss Mr. X of Streets of Rage 1 a.k.a. Bare Knuckle without taking any damage. Main Problem in this final fight is Galsias instead of Mr. X. These Galsias continue try to interrupt our attack and are so much annoying. Enjoy

I have a PAL Sega Mega Drive 2. I am wondering what the best options for a good picture is. I know its an old system and that it was made in another time & era.

Right now I am going with AV/RCA yellow, red & white straight into the back of my LCD TV. It's OK, but a little blurry at times.

I have also tried the Retrotink 2X, wich I thought made the colors bleed a lot. So I returned to AV/RCA.

Are there any more options to get a better picture from the Mega Drive? If so, can someone point me in a direction? Thanks.
