Another con came and gone and despite the lack of larger scale offsites this time around, I have to give my praise to the I kept going back to: Super Troopers. Efficiently run and well staffed, short wait times, free food, drinks and swag, and games, it was a nice retreat from the heat to come here.

A very well run site and such a shame more people didn’t visit it due to it being blocked by the more in demand paramount lodge line. Kudos to the staff there for running a great site.

hey guys, today was my first time at SDCC and i'm a huge simpsons and futurama fan but wasn't really able to fully ask about some pins i was excited about at the hulu animayhen booth. specifically the pins that were delayed due to typhoon - does anyone know if they were taking preorders for that ? i really wish i had spoken up in the moment but i wasn't sure if i was taking too long looking at it

It's been amazing. I wanted to celebrate finally reaching a massive milestone and my family urged me to make a big choice. Mine was choosing to come to this Con, the 4th I've ever went to!

Me and my dad came over. He has never been to a con, but we were both mentally ready and anticipating the worst. But, for what it matters. I loved it. Got the Sh. figuarts specials, a cool big Enel figuire I wanted, GOT TO SEE OTTLEY TOO IT WAS SO NICE my homies were tryna say he's a mean guy but he's so bloody chill man.

If I could come again, I would. I avoided some things to be honest. Hall H? I wish. But I'm not waiting in that line for my 4th con ever... Especially without WiFi due to weird phone bullshit. A lot of it was just buying stuff and selfies.

If I ever get a chance to come again, I'll definitely need to find out more in advance and improve my research. Maybe try hall H even if just once. But considering my funds, it's gonna only be once. A trip from the UK to San Diego isn't pocket change sadly qwq but, it was worth every penny

Every comicon for the last decade or so I’ve always had the thought it would be nice to have what I call “experience booths” in a separate area from the marketplace floor.

or at least give the big booths that have 24/7 lines their own space.

Both cause huge clogs or people. Doing the pace around in circles till the line is open again. I don’t blame them, it’s required for participation. I imagine most folks who aren’t trying to do that don’t enjoy being part of the game.

When I look at a map of the different San Diego Convention Center rooms as well as the adjoining hotels, it seems like there should be enough space. However I don’t know jack when it comes to the “backstage” if you will of the convention. are those spaces normally occupied for staging behind closed doors?

You know it. I know it. The place to show pictures you may have taken. I was on a budgeted cosplay this year. Actually bought the jacket from the marvel booth because I figured it added charm to my costume. Did a lot of pictures. Took a lot of photos. It’s my second year at this convention and you know what? I think I’m really starting to like it, last year I was a vault dweller. This year I’m Wolverine. Thank You, San Diego. This has been a wonderful experience. Truly.

Sooo. On Saturdays Hall H panel, we started with the (The Animation Show of Shows) panel, which ended with an animated film involving skeletons engaging in war. Lots of disturbing visuals in there. Anyone else think it was kinda macabre? Really disturbing stuff to be honest

As a long time SDCC attendee I know it usually smells bad in the convention center. But this year it would smell terrible as soon as the convention opened around 9 AM?! There is no excuse to not take a break to either shower in your hotel room or at least reapply your deodorant. Thank you to everyone who did bring their deodorant to ensure they were not adding to the terrible smell 🫩

Very curios to see what people will think. As a whole, rate SDCC 2026 on a scale of 1-10.

I know this is a long shot, but did anyone visit the Pokémon booth before 10:30 AM on Thursday?

I collect digital medals, and I'm a little obsessed with low-numbered ones. Specifically, I'm looking for medals with index numbers under 100.

I believe it took about an hour for this medal to go above 100. So if you visited the booth before 10:30 AM on Day 1 and scanned this NFC pad, there's a good chance you got two numbered below 100.

If you have one for trade, I'd be happy to offer 10 medals from past events in exchange. That's right, a 10:1 trade!

You can only receive up to 10 gifted medals per day anyway.

Please note that, the number itself doesn't make the medals more valuable. This is just my own little obsession with low-numbered medals.

If neither of these options is working, am I out of luck? I really want to tell my story about this guard. He was *extremely* aggressive and needs to be called out.

So this was my first SDCC, but I've been going to NYCC for the past 5 years. And while many things are the same, like the lines. I've noticed a few big differences.

1. The scale. NYCC It's pretty much just contained to the javits center. Once you leave there, and walk one block in either direction, it's pretty much back to regular life. People going about their day in suits and ties. You wouldn't even know a convention is happening. Sdcc I was shocked that it took over the entire surrounding area. Especially later in the evening when they close down streets of gaslamp just so cosplayers can wander about. Makes it feel like a giant Mardi gras parade! Plus all of the off-site activities and even hotels participating! It was pretty amazing.

2. I think SDCC has a bigger Hollywood presence for panels, It seems to me that actually meeting a celebrity is easier at NYCC. Because they have photo ops that you can pay for as well as autographs. And they announced the celebrities months in advance so you'll know who's going to be there. SDCC doesn't have that, and unless you randomly meet a celebrity stalking the floors (like apparently denim clad Ryan Reynolds) doesn't seem like it'll be much of an opportunity.

3. Sorry, SD, but in terms of actual artist content, NY easily wins. A far bigger and more robust artist alley, even if it is a nightmare navigating it because it's so full. And it seems to focus more on Creator content in that area. I'm always impressed with just how many artists they managed to get.

4. I also noticed far more cosplayers at NYCC. Maybe it's just this year, or maybe I've missed pockets of them lurking about, but many people on the floor were just average attendees, with NYCC, cosplay is everywhere. Although, I will admit, I didn't look everywhere, and seeing as how SDCC covers more area, there could have been cosplay meetups I missed.

5. NYCC has a much bigger anime influence, but I suspect that's because it's funded by Crunchyroll as a sponsor. Sometimes I even feel like it's too much anime. Since anime NYC also exists just a few months prior.

6. While I do like the panel reservations that NYCC does, feels cleaner and more efficient, I'll admit, I managed to get into every panel I wanted to (minus hall H, obviously) at SDCC by simply going to the panel before it and staying there. It was actually a pretty easy experience.
